Oh, just kidding.
But since I have your attention, I was ruminating about how seriously we take this weight-loss/fitness-attainment journey, how little slack we allow ourselves, and how little we trust ourselves to figure it out without the help of 5,000 "experts".
I realize that I've only been at this MFP thing for two months. But I'm not new to the fitness chase and I'm serious as hell and have been reading every word written and every opinion spouted. Slowly, slowly, SLOWLY I am developing my own inner monitor of what will and won't work for ME. For MY body. Based solely on what I'VE experienced. I am even open to *gasp* trying my own ideas out to see how they fit (I know -- it's a scary thought) and have stopped worrying that I'll screw up everything I've worked for by, say, exercising for 30 minutes less or 60 minutes more, or doing more weight training or eating less fat or more calories. I'm actually trying things out because I think they'll be beneficial to my particular body, not because of someone else's suggestions.
So, bottom line? -- All you newbies can look forward to an amazing amount of insight into the inner workings of your very own fitness machine. It's pretty awesome. Meanwhile, read everything, try what makes sense for you, and pay attention to how it all feels. And, if you can cut yourself the slack, don't take it so seriously that it ceases to be interesting.
This is your life. Love it.
