Surprising NSVs

I was never HUGE. Yes, I'm only 5' 3" and I weighed over 150, but I was still not someone you'd take a second look at -- for better or worse. But I DID have cankles. Even when I weighed 119. There was no hint of an achilles tendon at the base of my calves. No hollows on either side of that mythical tendon. Dresses were my nemesis.

Fast forward to today, add a LOT of supervised, intense exercise, and VOILA! For the first time in my adult life, I have ankles! Really! -- Even when I have on shortie socks, you can tell that there's an achilles tendon in there -- the hollows prove it! I just can't get over it. I contemplated lipo on my ankles for about 20 years, but now I don't need that. I actually have decent legs. Holy crap!!

And then there's trying on clothes. Used to be that I only shopped when I absolutely needed something. Like I had a function to attend and had to wear something "nice". At those times, I was forced to choose between the lesser of all evils. I bought whatever didn't look the worst. It was all bad, but something was always less horrific than the rest.

Now? -- I get to choose which thing looks BEST. Because they all fit, and they all look pretty decent. So I get to pick the thing that looks GOOD. I get to wear the dress (!) that suits me! I get to feel pretty in my clothes!

I know this is all horribly superficial and doesn't begin to address how healthy I am now that I don't eat more than I need to (mostly) and do exercise more than I need to (mostly). But these are the things that I believe will keep me from backsliding.

Hopefully someone will read this just when they need to and say, "Hey! I want that! -- This work is worth it!"

Best of luck to all of you. You can do it!!

Great nsv's! I think the best nsv with my weight loss and commitment to a healthy lifestyle is always knowing those clothes in my closet fit! That is my biggest nsv since adopting my new lifestyle and maintaining my weight!

Fantastic job! It's really awesome to have that feeling. I love shopping now too and being able to feel good about what I'm buying. Loved my blood work numbers from my yearly physical too!

Great NSVs! I will always have cankles from the broken ankle, but I am really looking forward to feeling good and looking good in my clothes. I think it's the superficial stuff that keeps us going because it's not so abstract.
