Back a 3rd.. and hopefully final time!
Hi! Started MFP my freshman year of college (4 long years ago!) and have been doing it off and on since then. My most successful time, I logged in just about every day for almost 5 months and lost 15 pounds. I began Crossfit in January, and although I loved it, I had to freeze my account last month due to financial…

Super Small NSV! Boosted My Confidence in Myself!
Today I hit the gym to finish up week 5 of C25K (the 20 minute run!). An old friend was in the area and texted me to meet up. I met her outside of the gym and she asked me to go to lunch at the Cheesecake Factory with her and another friend. Even though this is one of my closest friends, my old self would have kept my…

Boston Moves for Health
Hi All, Recently I learned about this new Boston initiative in my healthcare class. After checking it out I signed up and it is a pretty great resource. It provides daily workouts that you can do as well as has a calendar of all of the free fitness classes (like zumba, bootcamo, yoga) in Boston that take place at city hall…

Running Help!
One of my biggest goals in getting healthy is to really enjoy running. I've always been pretty athletic.. I played field hockey and lacrosse in high school.. but now that I'm in college I've gained a lot of weight and am having a really hard time pushing myself to the next limit. I always let myself stop running even when…

Hi All! Last spring I completed the C25K program and was feeling great! I had great plans to build up to a 10K as the weather got beautiful and I was really starting to enjoy running! Unfortunately, the summer became filled with work, beach, and parties and it surely got the best of me. I stopped running and working out…

HRM VS Cardio Machine
So I recently bought a HRM watch (without a chest band). I did the elliptical at a vigorous pace for 30 minutes and it said I only burned 90 calories. The machine said I burned around 300ish. I've always thought the machines overestimated the calories burned but I feel like my HRM is VERY low. It works perfect when I'm…

Reebok Easy Tone- Worth It?
Hi All, So this summer I will be working in a hospital as a pharmacy tech. I'll be on my feet for 8 hours a day delivering drugs throughout the entire hospital. Due to all the walking we get to wear scrubs and sneakers. I was planning on just wearing my regular running shoes that are super comfortable. Has anyone who has…

30 Day Shred-- Is this your main exercise?
I just finished my first day of 30 day shred and it is my last exercise of the night.. I ran 20 minutes this morning and then did the elliptical for 35 minutes. For those of you doing 30 day shred.. do you only do shred or is it just a supplement to your other exercises?

Eat too little? or exercise too much?
So I usually burn between 500 and 1000 calories when I work out. Sunday, Yesterday, and Today I have burned 600 each day. Obviously, exercise is good.. I feel good.. I don't feel an issue. I am having a really hard time eating the extra calories to get up to 1,200 a day. The only way I did it yesterday was to eat pizza and…

Couch to 5K Week 4 Difficulty

I am having a lot of trouble with the workout and have done it 2 days so far and both times I couldn't finish the last minute of the 5 minute run at the end. Its just kind of discouraging because I was feeling…

Skinny Friends
So I'm in college and literally all of my best friends are skinny and tiny and adorable. They know I work my butt off in school and at the gym and they are constantly asking me why? Its hard for them to understand why I have to make going to the gym a priority and countless times they tell me they only go once a week and…

Need a little support for this weekend
Hi All, So this weekend I am going with my student group to a conference. We are staying at a hotel and every meal is provided for us. Whenever I go to retreats or something like this I always find myself overeating. Its typically a buffet style with a desert at just about every meal. This is obviously NOT GOOD for 2…

Videos VS Gym
Do most people work out to videos or at the gym? I feel like I'm constantly seeing people posting their exercise from video workouts. What are the benefits to doing these instead of just the elliptical or running or something at the gym? I don't have enough room to breathe in my dorm right now nevermind workout but maybe…

Never Sore..
In high school I never really worked out but always played sports.. the biggest thing for me that made me feel like I was getting a great workout was how much I sweat and how sore I was the next day. Ab and Strength Workout
I have been going to the gym a lot but I've only been doing cardio. I started Couch to 5K and love that I have a set running workout that I can cross off when I finish. Best Cardio Machine
So I typically go on the elliptical for 60 minutes and then run on the treadmill for 20. I know its good to switch it up so I'm looking for suggestions. It would be great if I could run for 60 minutes but that's not really in the cards for right now and I need a way to burn about 800-1,000 calories in about an hour and a…

Studying at the Gym
I'm in college and last semester I found it really hard to balance going to the gym and studying.. among other things. I found this website www.studyblue.com which is SO great! Finally getting serious about weight loss- Would love some
Hi All, I'm sure everyone has been through their ups and downs of weight loss, their months or even week (I've been there) of enthusiasm, dieting and exercising, and then ending up back at the same weight or worse soon after. I can't keep this up. I need to get serious and make it happen this time. I'm a sophomore in…

Too Much Fiber?
MFP says that my daily fiber intake goal should be 14 grams. Are there any problems with consuming more than that? I am a big fan of the Fiber Plus bars which run at only 120 calories and have 9 grams of fiber which really fills me up and curbs my hunger. If I throw a salad on top of that for lunch I am usually at or past…
