I've decided to do low carb. How low should I go? Any advice?

1/2 Marathon Runners: Advice?
Is it better to start at a decent pace (say a 9 min/mile) and just increase mileage OR Run slower and further at first and then increase pace? Obviously, I can run a lot further when I'm going at 6mph (about 4 miles) as opposed to 7mph (only 2 miles right now). What's the most effective way to train?

Maintenance for a Week

I've kept my calories at 1375 and lost 2lbs the first week and probably one pound this week (I think I might be slowing down). Forgetting to eat
Starting to forget to eat and sometimes going way too far under my goal. What is happening?! Not too long ago I couldn't wait till my next meal and going over was common. This isn't good because I need to stick to 6 meals/ day. Otherwise my metabolism won't let me loose any weight.
