Forgetting to eat

Starting to forget to eat and sometimes going way too far under my goal. What is happening?! Not too long ago I couldn't wait till my next meal and going over was common.
This isn't good because I need to stick to 6 meals/ day. Otherwise my metabolism won't let me loose any weight.

That happened to me, and i plateaud for 10 weeks! I recently started eating more calories and lost 13lb in 2 weeks. Try to eat more regularly it really works. Even if its a handful of nuts, some oatcakes and cottage cheese or a piece of fruit, it keeps the metabolism going.

Do you have anything else going on in your life right now? I got divorced at the beginning of the year and barely ate for over a month.

Try setting up a timer on your phone to go off at the times you should eat. :D

Meal timings are irrelevant. Eating 6 meals a day doesn't have an advantage over 2-3 meals. If you can't find the time to eat as frequently then eat larger meals to meet your calories.

The thing that may slow your metabolism is not eating enough - meal timing will not.

ETA: re not being hungry - our hormones have a significant impact on our feeling hungry. It is pretty common for this to happen, especially when eating a VLCD.

Thanks guys!! I thought 6 meals/day sped up to my metabolism (it did seem to work better for me) but maybe it just forced me to choose better food options. :)

I do exactly the same sometimes, particularly on family days out when they are all eating rubbish so I just don't eat and have diet cokes to keep me going. I know it's not good but it just happens sometimes and is surely better than joining in eating rubbish. I am sitting here tonight thinking that I should eat as I'm 500 cals down today, but another day I won't be so strong and may go over; I can't help but feel that it is silly to eat just for the sake of it to up my cals. Surely it's eating for the sake of it that made me overweight in the first place? Yes, I am worried about those odd days when I go under as I don't want to mess my metabolism around but so be it.

Thats what ive done today, I went over my cals today with some homemade pizza but i worked it out that over the last 6 days ive eaten just over 1200 per day as a average so I let my self have it lol.

It really depends on your body. For most people, it doesn't matter. But for certain people with abnormalities in their system (diabetics, for example) eating smaller portions more frequently is significantly beneficial.

As a newbie I'm going try to stick to 1200 per day. I often don't want to eat all day and have pizza and wine in the evening. Ugh!!

The timing of when you eat, medical issues aside, is dependent on what works for YOU and which way will keep you under your calorie target and keeps you satiated the best. So while timing being irrelevent for everyone from a metabolism perpsective it is relevent to the individual from a 'sticking to it' and 'feeling better' perpsective.
