Mio Link and Scosche Rhythm+
I'm looking into getting a HRM - but wearing a chest strap is out. I had surgery on my chest in my late teens and I can't stand to have things touch my chest on the scarring. Two of the monitors I've been researching are the Mio Link and Scosche Rhythm+ Does anyone have any experience with either of these? Thanks.

Gym Etiquette - Smith Machine Circuit Training
I've been using the same Machine-Only Beginner Workout since January and I'm looking to change and try something different. I use Jefit and saw a Smith Machine Circuit Training workout but have a question... Is it bad gym etiquette to tie up one of the two Smith machines for that long? The routine goes: Squat x10 Lunge x10…

MyFitnessPal Starts Tracking Steps...
Interesting....Article here: http://www.forbes.com/sites/parmyolson/2014/05/01/myfitnesspal-starts-tracking-steps-to-grow-the-worlds-largest-nutrition-database/ Recent hype about healthcare tech has been over wearable fitness trackers, but an arguably more impactful way to be healthy and lose weight is to track eating…

Dr. Oz Grilled By Senator Over “Miracle” Weight-Loss Claims
Dr. Oz had some fun in front of a Senate Committee. Here's a cut/paste of the article, link at the end: Since he started appearing on pal Oprah Winfrey’s show a decade ago, and especially since he launched his own inexplicably popular daytime talk show in 2009, Dr. Mehmet Oz has had a history of being a bit overly…

Trying hard not to be annoying
I'm sure my co-workers and family are getting sick of me talking about my weight loss and exercising. I'm trying not to overdo it but for me, talking about it keeps reinforcing the why and what of my getting healthy and in shape. As I am a lazy *kitten* deep in my core, I don't want to let that part creep back in. Any tips…

Where does "Tall" start?
I stand just over 6'4" (193cm). My wife is just over 5'10" (178cm). I'd say both of us qualify as "tall" for our sexes. Where does "tall" start? Maybe over 6' for men and 5'9" for women? I have no idea. Thoughts?

Swimming
I am not a swimmer. I can move my body through the water, stay afloat and not drown; but forget truly being able to swim a lap using a proper freestyle stroke. I can swim a bit under water, freestyle some, and use jacked up versions of breast stroke and sidestroke (and I can float with the best of them). How do I build…

Are all weight reanges crazy like this?
So I was looking at what my "ideal" weight range for my height (6'4") should be (WebMD). Normal weight range for the height: 152.0 - 205.4 lbs. Are they smoking crack? 152 lbs? I can't even begin to imagine being that light. Think I'll need to stick to the top end of that scale. I was looking to get down to 210. Oopsie.…

Why not me?
I've been feeling extra motivated since the Super Bowl and listening to interviews with Russell Wilson. His Dad asked him, "Why not you Russ?" I've been working slowly on my weight loss but nothing serious as I've never been lean and healthy. Hearing him got me thinking, "Why not me?" I look at the pics of other dudes who…

So yesterday was my first strength training day...
..in forever and boy am I paying for it today. I'm using Jefit and the Beginner Machine Workout. Holy carp am I sore! I've decided to go two days between workouts so as to give more recovery time. I guess this is what I get for being fat and lazy for years. How do others deal with the soreness? I refuse to let it beat me -…

Fitbit or Endomondo for outside walks/runs?
I have a Fitbit which I wear religiously, but I also have some routes for walking (and running when I get some more weight off) I set up through Endomondo. The treadmill gets old so I like the outside. Which would be better to use to track that walk/run? I don't have a heart rate monitor yet, but I'm considering the Zepher…
