Body Fat Calculators
So, my gym has a body-fat-calculating machine thing. We enter our height, weight, age, fitness level (average or athletic), and gender. Then we place our hands around the handholds, and then, 10 seconds later, we have a reading for body fat. My question is: How accurate is this thing? I am down 1.5 percent from a month…

Sugar Free, Fat Free, Low Carb Desserts... HELP!
Tomorrow is my best friend's birthday, and she LOVES dessert. She also has problems with her liver, and she's been requested by her doctor to eat sugar free, fat free, and low carb in order to save her liver while they figure out exactly what's wrong. Now she's not much of a cook, and she can't really eat most of the stuff…

What bothers you at the gym?
So I was at the gym this morning. I started off with C25K and then headed to circuit training. I'm sure most of us know what circuit training is, but if you don't, it's basically a few workout machines (certain weight machines, certain cardio machines) to give you a full body workout in less time. You move around from…

Halfway to Goal, 32.5 pounds down (pics heavy!)
Wow, so, let's be honest: Even the whole time I was trying to lose weight, I never actually thought of myself one day hitting a goal. I was doing this because people thought I couldn't... that was honestly my only reason. So I never actually could see myself one day being on the Success Stories board, saying "I'm halfway…

Stretch marks from weightlifting?
Do any of you guys get stretch marks on your arms/legs from weightlifting? When I was in high school (either 9th or 10th grade, I forgot) I was in weightlifting class. I was a heavy lifter at the time, and had problems with extra testosterone (as a female, I had WAY too much, according to my doctor). I was weightlifting a…

Protein Powder- Whey or Soy?
Which is better for you/works better/tastes better/has a better texture? I'm starting to work out A LOT more than I used to, and in doing so, I want to make sure I get adequate protein levels for my weightlifting and such. I want to build some muscle! Haha. Anyways, my supermarket has a bulk section, and they sell vanilla…

If you had to choose...
If you had to choose just ONE song that gets you 100% completely hyped up while exercising, what would it be? Mine is... Invincible by Ok Go. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mItuZ8i4wH8&ob=av2e) I just LOVE the way it gets me totally pumped up. I'm not normally a rock-type, but this is a bit alternative, too. It's pretty…

How fast do you run the Couch to 5k?
I personally run it at 6 mph at an incline of 1.0. My goal is to be able to run a 5k in 31 minutes or under, that's why I'm following the 6mph. And when I do run the 5k, it's going to be an outdoor 5k, so I try to keep some incline so it's somewhat similar to running outside (once the weather cools down, I'll be running…

August groups- HELP!
So I'm looking for a TEAM challenge group to join during august. I do better when other people are relying on me too, so I figured joining a team in a friendly competition with other teams would be great. The only problem is, all the groups I see for August are already closed... and it's not even August! Are the any groups…

Couch to 5k question :)
Alrightyyyyy, so I finally got a gym membership and can get going tomorrow morning. I'm going to start with the C25K, but I know I can already run 3 or 4 minutes. Should I skip directly to week 2 or just let it be and start at week 1 to make sure I can handle running multiple times? Thanks for your help! :)

My most recent NSV...
I've actually been away from friends and family for an entire year. I was on a study-abroad program in Germany, and didn't see anybody from America in that time. Well, I saw a friend whom I didn't really talk to that much before I left. I mean, we were friends, but not good friends. We saw each other maybe once a week or…

Favorite thing at the gym?
If all goes well, I will be getting a gym membership today. I've had one before, and my FAVORITE things to do were the ellpitcal and the gazelle, though I frequented the free weights and treadmill, too. But I'm definitely open for any ideas! What's your favorite thing to do at the gym? Why? Thanks! :)

I'll take anything you got!
Hey guys! So I was in Germany all last year, in a study abroad program. I'm finally back home in America, and getting back into the swing of eating well. Problem is, I'm living with my father this year, who is most definitely not the model of "good eating". I made him a deal- I get to choose the meals, I cook, and he'll…

Are you good with computers? I'd appreciate your help! :)
I've got an HP Pavillion Entertainment PC laptop running Windows 7. The computer is about 1.5 years old, and I've taken really good care of it. It doesn't have any viruses right now. Perfectly normal computer. Except that for the last month or so, it's been randomly shutting off when I unplug it from the charger. It always…

Psychological Hump
Hey MFPers, I've got another problem, lol. Today, I ate pretty darn well. I made sure to eat every few hours, got all my water in, and still made a healthy dinner (except for those potato wedges, lol). Anyway, so it's 10:30 at night, and I'm about to close my food diary when I notice I have 271 calories left. Wowza! I'm…

NSV- My T-Shirt Story! (among other rambles)
NSV: Non-Scale Victory: noun, a term used to describe a success that is not based on the numbers on the scale Alright, my story. I stopped MFP August of 2010, for personal reasons. I'm an exchange student in Germany right now, and the idea of coutning calories and everything here in Germany just... I don't know, it wasn't…

Sports Clubs for Kids- Your Opinion, Please
Okay, I'm asking this in total seriousness. I'm hoping a lot of people will look at this and give me your opinions. Being about halfway through my journey here, and suddenly living a new lifestyle in another country, I've had my eyes opened A LOT and I think I'd like to share my experiences. (And by the way, this could get…

Badminton?
Are there any badminton players among you MFPers? I'm a foreign exchange student in Germany right now, and I've been here for 6 months. Despite me having never played badminton before, my host mom managed to convince me to join a badminton group after my first month here. Well, I joined, and I've been playing for almost 6…

Screaming, Kicking Fighting, Energy-Killing Workout!
Do you have a "screaming, kicking, fighting, energy-killing workout"? Give it to me. Now. Please. I've got 4 hours alone in the forest to myself. I can do whatever I want. And right now, if I had the choice, I would go punch a tree. Since that would cause some severe damage to my hand, I need some other ideas. No…

Germany!!
Hey, so I've been researching online a bit, but I'm at a standstill. So, instead of screaming in frustration, I figure I shall ask some of the coolest people around- MFPers!! Anyway, I'm leaving in 11 days to study abroad in Germany for one year (yes, a WHOLE year, lol- can you tell that I'm excited?). I've leaped over…

Weight
Everybody says that weight fluctuates daily, and that's why you shouldn't weigh yourself every single day. Despite this, I still weigh myself daily. I find that my weight (when I drink all my water and stay under my sodium) steadily goes down .2 every day (which fits perfectly with my 700 calorie deficit). But during the…

No way??
I think I may have messed up. Do Bisquick waffles REALLY only have 120 calories each? I entered allt he ingerdients for the waffles (2 cups bisquick, 1 1/3 cup milk, 2 tbs vegetable oil, 1 egg) into the recipe calculator, and divided it by how many servings the box says it would make (12). It comes out to about 120…

Eating Disorder
So, the other day I was at my last training session for my study abroad program. Near the end of the session, they split up the guys and the girls to talk about specific issues. While in a room with other girls, our training woman asked if anybody in the room had a history of eating disorders (they only ask because almost…

Grapes
Man, oh man, do I love grapes!! I went to the grocery store a couple nights ago, and found grapes for 78 cents a pound. 78 CENTS A POUND!!!!! Compared to the normal $2.15/pound, I jumped on it, and bought 3 bags of grapes. So, now, I've been looking to chow down on my favorite fruit in the entire world. But we have a…

Clif Bars
What's your opinion on them? I bought one yesterday to try, and it was pretty darn good. I am a little concerned at the fact that the bar was 240 cals with only 10 grams of protein (but 5 fiber! yayyyyy!!). Anyway, I'm not looking for them as a meal replacement bar or anything. I'm only using them as a snack when I'm on a…

Tired after working out?
Does anyone else get this? I haven't worked out in over 6 months, but I used to do the C25K. I had no problem finishing the workouts (for being as overweight as I was, the intervals were pretty easy for me). But the moment I finished working out, all I wanted to do was sleep. It happens no matter what exercise I do…

Protein
Hey MFPers. I'm lookin' for help again. Everyday, I pretty much fail to get in my 100 grams of protein. I'm not much of a meat person, and I can't stand lowfat cheese or nuts. Is there some way to get extra protein in? I'd prefer to get it in for breakfast (I already get about 35-45 grams for dinner). I've een doing one…

Femcon Fe Birth Control (males may want to back away)
Is anybody on this birth control? I just started 4 days ago. I was previously on Yaz (for about 8 months). I LOVED Yaz with all my heart. I had 4 day period, barely any cramps, no PMS, no cravings, and it got rid of my acne (for the most part). My gyno switched me off Yaz because it was shown to possibly cause blood clots…
