I think I may have messed up. Do Bisquick waffles REALLY only have 120 calories each?

I entered allt he ingerdients for the waffles (2 cups bisquick, 1 1/3 cup milk, 2 tbs vegetable oil, 1 egg) into the recipe calculator, and divided it by how many servings the box says it would make (12).

It comes out to about 120 calories per 4x4 waffle.
Is that true? If so, I may be indulging in waffles a little more often, lol. :D

It depends how much they say a serving is? Does it make 12 waffes? Then yes i would say that's correct.

that is before the syrup of course....you gotta add that and consider the carb and sugar count when you eat waffles. :grumble:

Since you have all that extra batter, I think you should make it all and give them to all of us.

I miss waffles! I don't have a waffle iron and those frozen ones just aren't that good!

    Bon appetit!

Does it actually make 12 servings? I've never used a pancake or waffle mix that actually made the amount of servings it said, unless I made really tiny/thin ones.

you could always eat them with unsweetened frozen fruit (peaches, strawberries) and then just a teaspoon of turbinado sugar or honey. The juice from the fruit moistens it just enough like a syrup and then the teaspoon of honey or raw sugar sweetens it just enough =)

    Well, here's an update:
I indulged a lot (4 waffles, ack!), but I put the syrup in a cup instead of pouring on top. I used about 1/8 of a cup in syrup (not too terrible- but the sugar, OH THE SUGAR!)

But despite the cals and the sugar/carbs, it was DELICIOUS. :)

Sorbitol isn't really that bad...do you chew gum? It is in there as well.

Eww. Its not even syrup. Syrup should come from a maple tree, not a labratory. But thats just my opinion, like anyone cares.

I'd rather just have the real thing and then work it off.

I never chewed gum that much.
So I googled "Sorbitol in gum"

    First 2 hits
High Intake of Sorbitol in Gum and Sweets May Cause Extreme Weight ...

How Sorbitol Causes Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Sorbitol is found in sugar free gum
Reason it's used is "its lower cost makes it appealing to food manufacturers"

well you can find info on the internet proving any theory :) the truth is that it isn't that bad, all in all.

Don't get me wrong, i dislike artificial sweeteners.

Also- sorbitol is found naturally in fruits such as apples, pears, peaches, and prunes. Would you say those are unsafe to eat as well?

At least your body is able to recognize and digest the real maple syrup. Not some chemical mess that is going to be stored in the liver and kidneys as toxins...........

These products are the very reason why we humans need to detox our bodies occasionally.............

I really don't think people are talking about the sorbitol in the product. It is the nutrasweet and the other chemicals that make this a scary concoction.

We get the Krusteaz brand waffle mix (higher protein), and have it almost every Sunday. That's the day I tell my diet to deal with it, LOL. I love waffles, too. "And in the morning... I'm makin' waffles!" ~Donkey, Shrek.
