For those of you who like Yoplait "Greek" Yogurt...
With food, IMO you have to pick your own battles with what you eat. I tried Yoplait's greek yogurt and frankly thought WTH it tastes just like their regular yogurt, not like greek yogurt, so I looked at the ingredients and saw that they added concentrated milk proteins. I chucked the other two containers I bought out in…

I don't have time = It's not a priority
I get an email from nerdfitness.com every couple of days and when I read the latest one this morning, I knew I wanted to post this excerpt on MFP because it is SO TRUE! I only hope I can remember this on the days I struggle with working out and want to find an excuse not to do it. Or to eat right, etc. I haven't checked…

Kid in new school - how long acceptable to feel uncomf?
My daughter has been in a new school for five weeks now. Her old private school that she'd gone to for three years closed and we had to find her a new one. We thought putting her in the summer program would help her make friends before she started first grade at the same school, as 95% of the kids are there during the…

Roller Skiing - anyone tried it?
I saw it for the first time in my Athleta catalog and have been intrigued ever since. I get plantar fasciitis and so have stopped even trying to attempt running. I'm thinking that like cross country skiing this might not bother my feet but am unsure. All that aside, it looks kind of fun. Has anyone tried it?? How'd you…

For anyone doing a kettlebell work out with a HRM??
I just did 38 minutes of the Skogg kettlebell system "roots" level 2 and according to my bodymedia fit (exact same thing as a body bugg), it says I only burned 127 cals. For each segment, I used an 8 kg bell with the exception of the warm up and the squats where I used a 4 kg bell. Now I KNOW this is more about burning fat…

For those of you with children - taking off work for kids
I want to "poll" the MFP population to see what their view point is in regards to parents taking time off work when children are sick, have doctors appointments, school holidays, etc. For my husband and I we have no family here and it has been hard to find a sitter for our daughter so it is basically up to us to do it all.…

155 lbs of overweightness versus 155 lbs of muscle
For those that don't see the scale move but see their clothes getting looser.. I am not in any way promoting paleo, in fact I know little about it. But I saw this post on my FB page and started reading. I am doing P90X and have lost nothing though I am slimming down. There are days that I have moments of weakness and…

Someone try this and tell us if you really burn 300 in 15?

What would you use instead of tofu in this recipe?
http://blog.fatfreevegan.com/2009/12/creamy-creole-eggplant-casserole.html I'm not super keen on soy products for a variety of reasons, but want to make this recipe...what would you guys use instead of tofu? The tofu in this recipe is to make the dish creamy and to thicken and to hold together I would imagine. Hummus?…

For the smoothie lovers
I ran out of greek yogurt this weekend and wanted to make a smoothie...had cottage cheese, so I added it in. I am NOT a cottage cheese person, at all...but it was good. Kindof took some of the sweetness away which is nice sometimes. Today is the third day I've used cottage cheese and I couldn't even taste it! It is a great…

Feeling of Satisfaction when eating (FoS)
My own term, lol... FoS. I've noticed over the past four months that when I eat food that satisfies I stay fuller longer. It isn't really about quantity or quality. It is all mental. Yesterday morning I had a smoothie with protein powder, banana, milk and ice and stayed full until 11am when I ate lunch. I love my smoothies…

Black Bean Quinoa Patties
After looking at a few different black bean burger recipes yesterday, I threw caution to the wind and added quinoa to the mix. I made 14 patties out of the following recipe for a total of: 83 cal/14 carb/.6 fat/4 protein/3.5 fiber. 2 cans (trader joes organic) black beans rinsed 1/2 yellow onion 1/2 green bellpepper 1 egg…

Satisfying Meals
Today for lunch I had a half sandwich with salami, mozorella, red onion and lettuce with a caesar salad and water. Was the meal higher in fat and sodium than I would have liked? Yes. However, the quality of the food was so good that I was satisfied with the portion I had and was content to not having anything else. I am…

The trouble with stretchy jeans is...
...that you really cannot tell if your badonkadonk butt is getting smaller or not! Especially when for the last 8 weeks the scale isn't moving and you are working out 4+ days a week and you are eating most of your exercise calories back and watching sodium and fat and measurements aren't decreasing even though you look…

HRM fat calories vs. regular calories burned?
I have a Polar F6 and for the past several weeks have been going back and forth between my low, mid and high heart rates to see how many calories I burn in each range. I find that I have much better form doing my circuit training in the low range. And I can do cardio either in mid or high depending on how ambitious I am…

Does anyone who weighs in every single day see results that
I'm not trying to be negative here. I have just found that for myself personally weighing every single day got me down and out about not losing on a daily basis. And then I'd start to eat more and say "screw it" and that would be the end. Right now I'm weighing myself on Friday mornings...but today for some reason I am…
