Evening hunger pangs
So the day has gone fine and under-cal-budget, then - at about 9pm - there's a sudden pang to eat something comfy or sweet. Too often I crack! What to do here? Train myself into ignoring it? Have an calorie okay alternative lined up? Sorry if this is a retread of other threads! Grateful for links if so.

Home stretch! But...
I'm on the home streatch to the goal weight - within that last ten pounds! But ... I've been here before, and always, always crashed out. Sometimes its slipped back by another 25 pounds. And once, I did make it, but somewhere inside knew it wouldnt' keep: I had been training for a run, and was feeling exhausted by it. It…

Low-cal Goal Rewards
What 'treat' foods do people here use when they don't break the cal cap? I hit a target this morning, still on the way to GW but a very satisfying moment. I wanted a treat for breakfast as a reward, but I also didn't want to undo any good work. So I swapped out chopped banana on my cereal - which I quite like - for…

Burrito
Yesterday I thought I'd have a a bit of a change and have a burrito at Chipotle for lunch. Foolishly, I only checked the calories afterwards. More than a thousand! I had it down as an indulgence, but only at the club sandwich sort if levels. This came in at a juicy pub burger and chips! And the thing is, I can do thousand…

Getting rid of old 'big' clothes - motivation or hubris?
I'm some way along my weight loss now, and am moving back into some of the clothes I used to be able to fit into - a relief, as I was worried that might never happen. What should I do with the larger clothes? Trousers that fall down without a belt, and so on? Of course it would feel great to clear them out, but it might be…

Why does working out give some people a squarer jaw? Am I imagining it?
Some people seem to gain squarer jaws and generally well-developed facial muscles as they become fitter, yet they're not exercising their face in particular. It seems to be more than fat loss for some. Why is this? Am I imagining it?

Should I / how to combine running and boot camp?
I'm currently on week 8 of Couch to 5K, enjoying it lots and - touch wood - seeing good results from it. I plan to keep running three times a week from now on. I've also joined a local 'boot camp' - an hour mixing up short runs, squat thrusts, tuck jumps, wall sits etc. Its different every week, exhausting but usually…

Olive oil alternatives
Does anyone know a good alternative to using olive oil for cooking meats? I use a wok for chicken most days, and even though it has a non-stick coating, the meat tends to break up leave a fatty, sticky residue that messes up the food unless its there's a coating of oil. But its probably 150cal or more for the 20ml needed -…

Things to drink
I'm rebooting my diet this week, and am trying to work out what can be had as a regular, virtuous drink. Obviously, there are going to be no sugary drinks, and alcohol and lattes as sparingly as possible, but what about things like: - squash? I like drinking Tesco's Blackcurrant and apple. Am I being a fool in thinking…

Pitfalls
I've been away from this site for a few months - which is a Bad Thing - but am now firmly back in the MFP saddle. Because of a busy life, I've set Monday to be the Hard Reboot Date - I'll be eating sensibly before then, but that's day zero for weigh in etc. I really want to plan for success this time: have the right food…

The Suit Trap
So, for blokes, this is the suit trap: It's as if suits are designed to make a belly look large if the suit isn't big enough - the jacket flapping about, the pale shirt bulging over dark trousers, and in case anyone missed it, a tie to show off the curve. YET if you really believe you're going to lose weight, there's no…

Looking for people in a UK timezone, starting out
Hi, I've just started with MFP - literally this morning - and right now feel pretty motivated to make this all happen. I'm really keen to try this with along other people, especially people who have also started out recently. My plan is to take this fairly seriously - I hope to be updating several times a week. Its…
