Pitfalls

I've been away from this site for a few months - which is a Bad Thing - but am now firmly back in the MFP saddle. Because of a busy life, I've set Monday to be the Hard Reboot Date - I'll be eating sensibly before then, but that's day zero for weigh in etc.

I really want to plan for success this time: have the right food in the house and choices when out for the first few days, a clear idea of what to do when I hit the gym or how much to take on when I go for a walk and so on.

And there's no point in doing all this without being honest. So, and with some trepidation, I'm being public about the pitfalls that have stopped me before:

- Drinking sessions. My friends are real beer-o-philes, and I do like a pub. Its veeeery easy to find that four or five pints have been clocked up, and much of the UK social life is alcohol-centric.

- Snack binges: Often a whole packet of - say - tortillas or mini pretzels. Bought with the general shopping, first thing to be eaten

- Work spikes: A sudden hundred hour week, and zeroed exercise coupled with terrible food sends the whole thing haywire

- Gym boredom. Well, after a bit, it is boring! Step machines especially.

- Late suppers: My girlfriend loves cooking, but this means evening meals start at 8pm at the earliest. I've got into a habit of mid -afternoon snacking to compensate

I know what I have to do about the drinking and the snacks, but any tips on any of these are welcome. And if this is all old news to everyone here: sorry - at least it as shamed me into thinking about it!
