Getting started again
Hello all! I logged back in to MFP on Wednesday after only sporadic usage for the past few years, and I was greated with a 9 year anniversary badge ( I didn't know that was a thing!) I had lost approximately 60 pounds, and managed to keep most of it off for about 5 years. But going back to work, and the stress that comes…

Grrr, why does my husband have to know me so well
I was feeling defeated, and stupid tonight, forgot to buy anything to have as a side dish with our dinner tonight. Sent him to the grocery store to buy sweet potato fries, and he came home with Reese's ice cream. It's like he knows exactly what to buy to fit into my calorie and macro goals. I get to have two servings! And…

Alton Brown explains Carbs, Fats, Protiens
This came up on my netflix tonight. Of course you don't have to watch the whole thing, but I thought he did a really good job of explaining macros and how the body uses them. And also recipes for granola and protien bars https://youtube.com/watch?v=QrfCxwHfv6I

Going to the doctor
For a physical. My first physical since having a baby almost 3 years ago, and 50+ pounds ago. I'm a little nervous to see how healthy I actually am ( or not, we'll see). Looking forward to having blood drawn

Does this count as exercise
Sitting on the couch enjoying my down time, looked up just in time to see a gigantic spider ( seriously, it was HUGE) crawling up the arm of the couch. It was literally 5 inches away from my arm. I jumped and ran freaking out, looking for a shoe, then beat the crap out of it for at least 2 minutes. It took me a good 20…

Actualy sad about missing workouts
Coming down with a respitory infection, coughing and my whole body is sore ( no fever though!!). And I'm actually depressed about missing my workouts. I guess that means I'm actually starting to like exercise?? Amazing, never thought that would happen. But anyway depending on how long I have to take off, should I start…

Logging body weight program?
Little bit confused here. I just started Strong Curves today, starting with the body weight program. How should I log this or should I log it at all? Should I log it as generic "weight training" for a number of minutes. Or would it be better to log each individual move with sets and reps? I have no idea what I'm doing now.…

Buying home gym equipment
Hubby is going to let me use part of our tax refund to buy gym equipment. Listening to you lovely folks, I'm thinking my best bet is free weights ( for body recomp). But hubby is thinking something more along the lines of a Bowflex or similar (so I don't need a spotter, and because all the extras for the free weights is…

Need experienced help HRM v. MFP database w/ specifics
I want to log as accurately as possible. I read on here every day that the MFP database over estimates calorie burns, and HRM are the way to go ( though some say only for steady state cardio). Well I have a chest strap HRM, and it puts my burns even higher than MFP does. For example todays workout (45minute circuit…

Woohoo! Officially down 50
I didn't even realize how close I was to the milestone number until I logged this weeks loss. And totally didn't realize how awesome it would make me feel. Only 11 pounds to goal!

Something I keep telling my daughter
Today I did not want to exercise, my shoulder is achy, I'm tired, on my period, and just did not want to do it because "it's hard". As I was wandering around the house trying to put it off, and even telling myself "i don't wanna, it's too hard" I heard my 6 year old saying the exact same thing about her reading homework.…

A scale victory I didn't expect
I finally broke through my 2 week stall, weighed in a 138.8, after jumping up and down between 140 and 142. Well when it came time for the scale to do my percentages ( body fat, water, muscle, bone) it didn't know who I was! I had to verify that I wasn't my 135 pound husband!

Trying figure out activity level for TDEE
Hi all, so here's a little about me first. I'm 5'4" (and a half!) currently 140 pounds ( SW was 186), 29 years old. Goal weight is 125lbs, so I'm 15 away. I work out 4 days a week, two 30 minutes sessions of Yoga Inferno ( Jillian Michaels), and two sessions of Jillian Michaels for Beginners ( one 40 minute, and one 50…

Help! Sabotage!
My two year old is trying to feed me his bagel! I may not be able to resist him shoving the food in my face :)

The last 10 are the hardest
So I've been thinking about this phrase this morning Mostly because my weight this week has been going up down by about a half pound all week, while since I started full force in March, my weight loss has been consistant (once it's off, it's off and ususally a pound or two a week). As of my last offical logged weight I am…

Hip Pain
Hello everyone I've been dealing with hip pain since I was a teen. It's not an every day pain, but I usually have at least one sore day a week. It was worse during my pregnancies ( for the obvious reason of hormones and extra weight). And I'll be honest, sex can be excruciating sometimes. Squats ( especially the sumo…

Thinking about my activity level
I've always had my activity level set to sedentary, because lets face, most of my day is spent sitting on the couch. But about a month ago we got a dog, and he is stubborn and has trained me to take him on a mile walk twice daily in order to get him to do all his business. I don't really think of these walks as a dedicated…

Decided I would share with everyone
So, I've been reluctant to share my pictures here ( they are already on my profile), but decided that since it is seeing everyone else's progess that keeps me going I should do it too. So here goes, lets hope I get this right the first time. I started out last October between 180-185 pounds, at 5'4" tall. I looked like…

Exercise after surgery
Hi all, I am one week post op from laprascopic surgery. I have an incision in my belly button, and one just above my pubic bone. I'm wondering if anyone knows when I can start getting back into my usual workout routine ( currently Jillian Michaels for Beginners). It's not terribly difficult, but has a lot of ab work. I've…

Today's win
Getting dressed this morning, realized my bra is a little big. Needed to cinch it up as tight as it would go, and it is still a little loose. The one spot that for some reason I havn't been measuring

Properly fueling myself for a longer workout, advice?
Hello everyone! I want to make sure I'm doing this right, cuz ugh I hate eating in the morning, makes me feel sick for an hour or so. Twice a week I have a longer workout planned ( 1 mile walk mostly downhill, 1 hour of aerobics/calisthenics, 1 mile walk mostly uphill), a total of 2 hours usually. I usually have 2 eggs and…

Ack! Better work that off!
So I made some "pizza bread" today, which is one of my favorites. Then I created the recipe using the handy dandy little tool on here. CRAP! Even with the 3 miles of walking I did this morning I was over my fat allotment for the day. I'm so ready to not be fat; so as much as I hate it, another 30 minutes of areobics and 10…

Calorie Goals, need some clarification
Ok, so the goal MFP gave me is 1410 daily Today I have eaten 1507 - 661 for exercise = 846 net ( 564 remaining) Do I leave it at that and keep that big deficit? Or do I eat a bit more? I've already had dinner, so that snack would be biger than most of my meals. My husband says stop eating now and apply that deficit to…

How would I categorize this workout?
What I'm doing is 10 lunges (each leg), 10 pushups, 10 squats, 10 crunches, 10 side bends ( each side). Repeat 4 times Do I do list this under both strength training and cardio, or choose one option ( if so, which)? It takes me about 10-15 minutes to go through the entire routine

Hi, another newbie. A little about me
As a disclaimer, I started an MFP profile awhile ago ( so long ago I don't remember when). But I'm getting started again, and have set a new goal for myself of being back to 130 pounds by the time I'm 30. That gives me a about 14 months to lose 50 pounds. So a little about myself. I am the wife of a US Marine. We got…
