looking for more MFP friends
Hello world. I'm here. Add me.

looking to build friends list
I usually trim my friends list of members who have long since stopped logging in. Anyone who regularly tracks calories and wants more friends, feel free to add me. I'm pretty busy, but I will add anyone who sends a request. I've lost almost 120 pounds so far and still have about 30 to go. Looking for people who are…

favorite romantic song at the moment?
I listen to a lot of Pandora. Katie Malua is a great station for romantic playlists when my girlfriend is over. Anyone have a favorite song for now? I like the "Nine Million Bicycles" by Katie Melua. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40isNy9Xqag Maybe post the name of the artist, the song title, and the link to the song on…

Looking for friends that regularly sign-in the site
I trim the friends list every so often of members who don't sign in. After 4 - 8 weeks of no sign-ins I cut friends from the list. Looking for MFP friends who use the site regularly. My "Friends" list is dwindling to under 2 pages 'cause I don't always come to the message board to hang out in the community. I post status…

Earbuds? or over-the-ear headphones?
Which do you prefer for your music player? I guess it's situational for me. If I'm mowing the yard, over-the-ear noise-cancelling headphones are a must. If I'm walking outdoors, ear-buds are my preferred headphones. But I'm super careful about volume with all types of headphones. I'd like to preserve my hearing.

Cracker-box genie question
-Let's suppose you liked Crackerjack box crackers (hypothetical). You open a box and a genie pops out. This is a very specialized genie because he's not the lamp kind of genie, but the Crackerjack box kind of genie. He can grant one of only two wishes. - He can either grant you the ability to live for precisely 200 years…

Fun question: you step into an elevator and. . .
You step into an elevator at the mall and find a magic wizard eerily reminiscent of Albus Dumbledore already waiting on it. He's at the mall doing some early Christmas shopping for the year, but takes to you rather quickly after you explain to him how the elevator buttons work. . . --He offers you a deal: he can magic you…

finally made it to Onederland!
I began WeightWatchers in 2006 at 318 pounds. It's been a long journey, with many plateau's and setbacks, but just today I finally made it to Onederland! Now I'm 30 pounds away from my target goal! To date, I've lost a total of 120 pounds! My ticker reflects the weightloss from December of last year, when I recommitted…

If you could choose 1 zero calorie junk food. . .
If you could have one junky food item that was zero calories AND wouldn't give you cancer in 20 years from too much unnatural science in the food, which junk food would it be? Mine would definitely have to be puppy chow. I loves me some puppy chow.

Upset that I was shamed by a *family* member about food
So, I have to tell a bit of a back story. I'm going to be as brief as possible. This past May, I earned my Master's Degree and had to move back in with my mom in my hometown. Even if I adjuncted a full-time load both Fall and Spring, and picked up 2 summer classes to teach in the summer, I could expect to earn somewhere…

Any lucid dreamers here?
If you are a lucid dreamer, be honest: don't you mostly use it for sex? I always find it amusing that articles on how to become a lucid dreamer always tip-toe around the sex dream issue. It's always "go for a walk on the beach" or "visit Europe." Never does an article say, "do that girl or guy you've got that crush on. . ."

I must use this new power for good. . .
I just learned how to embed images into MFP posts. I must use this new ability for the benefit of humankind. Oops. I guess I failed. Well, tomorrow is another day!

For any British MFPers about to go to bed. . .

Vegetarian/Vegan roll call!
Post here if you're a practicing vegetarian or vegan! Feel free to also answer these questions: 1) How long have you been a vegetarian? 2) What made you decide to restrict meat or animal products from your diet? 3) What's the most annoying thing you've been told by a carnivore? 4) What's the last book you read about…

Name 3 books you'd like to see made into great movies!
Edit: you may be a book series if you want. 3 books equals movie trilogy! It's so hard to pick just one, so I thought 3 would be better! 1) Dark Tower Series from Stephen King 2) The Dragonlance Chronicles by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman 3) The actual Golden Compass Series by Bill Pullman The first Golden Compass movie…

thoughts on foot cutoff after 7 PM?
EDIT: ugh. I meant "food cutoff after 7 PM. I already know I'm going to get teased about the typo "foot cutoff." It is a rather amusing typo, after all! My brother has had a lot of success eating as he pleases until 7 PM, when he restricts food for the rest of the day. I _do not_ intend to copy the tactic. I calorie count…

Who funds this site?
I looked in the FAQ under help. I was wondering how this site is funded, as there are no fees. Is this a non-profit agency? Or is it funded by a government (such as the U.S.?). I'd just like to know who is responsible for providing this AWESOME service! I've only been a member here for a day, but I love the community and…

Are there any foods that you don't count?
I used to be a member of WeightWatchers online. Back in 2006 they had 0 point foods. Things like carrots and celery. I have adapted MFP to resemble WeightWatchers in many respects. I keep a running tally on how over-calories I am day-to-day on the notes section. I find it helps me to keep track of how I'm doing with my…

Suggestions or articles for avoiding night eating?
Lately I've been doing really well at staying on program during the day, but struggle to avoid night-eating late at night. The problem is partly due to the fact that I struggle to actually fall asleep. I know that eating something will often help me fall asleep, but late night snacking is causing me to go over-calories for…

New tip
So I have a new strategy I use sometimes. But I want to preface that I am not suggesting that I haven't gradually improved my nutrition and committed to daily exercise just because I have this new trick I'm using. I'm all about the healthy lifestyle changes and not using bizarre or extreme crash diets or crazy severe…

NSV's; improvements you've made *outside* weightloss?
I was wondering what people have done outside of weightloss to improve their health. Because we all know that getting healthy is more than just a number on the scale. Things like: quitting smoking, giving up diet soda, reducing coffee intake, becoming a vegetarian or abstaining from refined sugars, taking up an exercise…

NSV: Quit smoking 388 days ago
I keep lots of stats about it on an excel file: -saved $501 since quit day (I rolled my own cigarettes [estimate cost was $9 per week]) -saved myself 662 hours of actual smoking (about 2 hours per day) -avoided about 7,300 additional cigarettes (smoked 19 per day) -saved about 150 hours of time from not rolling cigarettes…
