Does your body "expect" certain foods @ specific times?
I know that sounds like a "duh???" type of question. I have been a member of MFP long enough and have read enough posts to know that all my body really cares about is whether or not it gets enough energy in the form of food to fuel my daily activities. It doesn't really care when or how I get the fuel, just that it is…

MFP is free and...
I am getting good results, but if I had a spare 20K in the bank, I would try this ... http://www.premierfitnesscamp.com/rates/

Squat form check - again
Here is my squat after several workouts concentrating on form. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhFmw05wKWs I have corrected my grip to thumbs over the bar, am concentrating on pulling my shoulders back more (and not dropping my elbows). I have been doing BW box squats trying to find my hip hinge and really trying to stay…

W1D1 how fast?
I started C25K again, W1D1, and I can't make it past 3 intervals. I tried two weeks ago and that's as far as I made it, so I started walking on a treadmill. I have worked up to 30 mins @ about 3.8 mph, walking over 2 miles in that time. I figured that I needed to work on stamina and endurance before trying C25K again.…

hit your macros or hit your calorie goal
What is more important when it comes to basic weight loss? Not body re-composition. I currently weight 205, started out in February at 232. I have a three phase weight loss/fitness plan. The goal of Phase I is just lose the extra poundage, about 50lbs to get down to 180lbs. Phase II goal is to get to a healthy weight…

Stretching - pre and post workout
To be honest, I haven't been stretching for my workout, primarily because I don't know what to do. I warm-up my muscles w/ 10-15 minutes of walking (4mph) on the treadmill. And I usually do a warm-up set when adding weights to my lifts. But what stretches should I be doing, and when (before and/or after)?

A new and different soreness
About 1 month ago, I posted a video of my squats and received very valuable feed-back. I reviewing my video, your feed-back and viewing YouTube form tutorials, various blogs (GGS, etc), I have identified one major problem - I tend to "tip forward" in the bottom of my squat. I think that is the result of not maintaining a…

Sodium
How much do you monitor your sodium consumption, and do you stress about going over MFP's 2500/day? I know too much sodium will cause water weight, but I'm not worried about that - I'm more concerned with my "fat weight" and reducing it than I am worried about retained water. Is sodium like sugar, in that if there is no…

Rant - just need to express my frustration
I am having difficulty with my squat form, and I'm really leary about progressing in weight until I am confident I have good form. Do you keep working at low weights until you have perfected your form, or do you add weights as you can, knowing that by progressing in weight, your form tends to improve? I'm just really…

Clean and Sober role call
I am seeing more and more posts referring to being sober and drug-free - I guess a healthy lifestyle change not only encompasses food, but mind/body altering chemicals also. I was just curious to see how many of us there are here on MFP. I'll start - sober since 07/04/04

Why is everybody so "gaga" over kale?
I am contemplating buying some this every from the grocer. And how do you cook it? use it? eat?

How do you hit your macros?
I do pretty good staying at my calorie goals (+/-100 cals any given day), but my macros are all over the place. I have them set at 40carb/30pro/30fat, but tend to be closer to 35c/20p/45f. I'm sure there are those who will say a high fat diet is ok, but I know I need more protein, especially since I have started SL5x5…

Pull ups/chin ups
I know that pull ups and chin ups are different exercises and aren't part of the SL5x5, but I have a question. When I came home last night & told my couch potato husband (God love him) that I could bench 75lbs, he replied "yeah, but can you do a pull up?" To which I'm thinking, "I'm benching 75lbs, I can't possibly do a…

An "ah-ha" moment?
I have been taking the advice given to me this weekend about my squat form, and have come to two conclusions. 1. I have been doing the squat almost all my live, just never knew it. A friend mentioned in a PM "what you have to do is pretend you are going to sit on the toilet". That got me thinking of the last time DH and I…

Husbands, wives and other SO's
I read so many posts from women who are upset that their husband's/BF's/SO's give them grief about their weight, and to be honest, I could have been one of them... And many of the replies call out the husband/BF/SO as a jerk/*kitten*/douchbag, So... Just throwing gasoline on the fire... If I deserve better than a husband…

Squat form check - please be gentle
It is with some trepidation that I post this. I will either be pleasantly surprised that I'm doing this right, or disappointed to hear that my form absolutely sucks. But either way, progress is in the truth, so I'm open to all comments, suggestions, etc. BTW, I think my squat is low enough, but I'm not keeping my back…

form check - how do I post a video
Well, today I'm gonna put some makeup on, fix up my hair and put on my "feel-good" bright purple workout tank, go to the gym and perform in my first squat "form check" video. But how do I post an iPod video for y'all to see and critique?

Just eat the Chocolate, ok!
I learned a valuable lesson this afternoon. I have been wanting chocolate for a day or two now, but the "craving", the wanting hasn't been that powerful, that is, until this afternoon. I had an errand to run, so I went to Walmart, got my shopping done and started looking for a Hershey's Special Dark Chocolate w/ Almonds…

My husband is SABOTAGING me!
Last night after my SL workout and a 5K walk, I came home to find my husband getting ready to go to the grocery store to buy a gallon of whole milk and some cookies. And he asks me "Can I get you anything, some ice cream or sherbet?" I couldn't believe it!! Didn't he know that I just busted my *kitten* working out and I…

Nike+ question
I just got my shoe sensor last week and having been using Nike+ when I walk. What do the different colors (red, yellow, green) mean of the graphically workout representation? I haven't been able to figure that out yet.

I shouldn't have a backache after bench and rows, right?
I did my 2nd workout A this morning, benching 70lbs and 60lbs rows. I was able to do 5x5 on both lifts, but during the bench press, I felt that I was straining my lower back, and now I'm a bit achey (similar to a TOM lower back ache). I finished TOM on Tuesday and am lightly spotting for the first time ever - I'm 51 and…

Starting weight for DL
I'm on week 2 of SL5x5, although I haven't done a deadlift yet. Haven't felt comfortable with form yet to attempt it. I have been studying videos, etc and feel ready to go for it tonight. What weight to did you start with? Or just an empty bar? And if just the bar, did you "raise" it and how? Thanks

25 LAZY WAYS TO STAY SLIM - FROM REDBOOK
http://blog.chron.com/healthzone/2013/06/redbook-offers-25-lazy-ways-to-stay-slim/?cmpid=hpfsln#13073-25 I thought these would be "feel good" tripe, but actually the suggestions are pretty good. How many calories burn going to Mass?

QUESTION FOR RUNNERS - PACE
I have worked up from a 25min walking mile in March to 3 16:00 miles on a fairly consistent basis. I find that the right playlist is crucial for me to keep my pace. I love JogFM.com to find songs at a specific bpm. I want to start running and don't know how to convert my walking speed to a running speed. I try to run to my…

Muscle gain and caloric deficit
I have seen countless times that one can not gain in muscle while eating at a deficit. Is that a deficit of TDEE or deficit of BMR? And if I can't gain muscle while eating at a deficit in order to lose weight, why are many people suggesting strength training in order to build muscle to increase my caloric burn to assist in…
