Does your body "expect" certain foods @ specific times?

I know that sounds like a "duh???" type of question. I have been a member of MFP long enough and have read enough posts to know that all my body really cares about is whether or not it gets enough energy in the form of food to fuel my daily activities. It doesn't really care when or how I get the fuel, just that it is there (I'm purposely omitting the necessity/importance of macros, the whole "clean eating" debate, etc).

But..

My "go-to" breakfast M-F is 1 cup full fat cottage cheese w/ 1 cup mixed berries and coffee w/sugar and whole milk. This give me a good start for the day w/ 385cals and macros (CPF) of 43/29/28. However, this morning, there were goodies in the breakroom, and since I have already burned about 500 cals in exercise, I indulged myself with 4 homemade cheese straws (2oz) and 2 ham & cheese kolaches - more than enough food. But I'm still hungry - it's like my body/stomach wants my high protein breakfast and isn't happy that I didn't feed it that. I'm almost tempted to eat my real breakfast b/c I know that will satisfy me.

I know, sounds crazy, but have any of you experienced the same?

I had this sort of thing happen to me mid last week. My normal breakfast is a 1/4 cup of raw sunflower seeds with fruit (whatever is in season) and a black coffee. But last week I wanted to make something that my daughter and I could sit down with together. So, I break out the Bob's Red Mill Mighty Tasty Hot Cereal. Made it with some sliced peaches and raw honey. It was so good, we had a great time.. BUT 2 hours later we were ready to tear out the fridge.

Lesson learned. She went back to morning eggs and ham. I am back on the seeds. :)

I don't know about specific foods at specific times, but it is true that some foods just do not "satisfy" me anymore, regardless of quantity or calories. For example, I just rarely ever eat a fast food hamburger anymore (from any chain). I love me a good hamburger and fries on occassion, but even when it fits into my caloric goals for the day, I'm left starving - maybe 1/2 hour or 1 hour after I eat. I mean, stomach-growling hungry and it's not indigestion (not saying that doesn't happen on occassion, though, lol).

So, yeah, I think our bodies do change... how and why, I have no idea.
