Girls Night Out
A friend and I are going to see Bon Jovi tomorrow night, AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyhow, we wanted to go out and get a drink or two but we don't want to totally trash our progress , she's lost 20 lbs and I've lost 9. I prefer mixed drinks to beer but it seems beer has less calories. I hardly ever drink so I admit…

Taking advantage of spring break
Only three weeks left until I can say I've completed my first round of classic P90X! I'm on spring break this week and since I've got more time I'm going to switch to doubles for the rest of the week. What are you going to do?

P90X Calorie Burn
Hey there P90Xers. I'm in Phase 3 and on day 64 and just need a bit of clarification. What is your average burn for your workouts? I'm on the classic program and with my asthma allergy meds I don't think my HRM is accurate in what calories I burn, because the meds raise my HR. What is your average burn per workout?

More sugar McD's Fruit & Maple Oatmeal or Snickers?
On the radio yesterday, I heard that the McDonald's Fruit and Maple Oatmeal has more sugar than a snickers bar. That hardly seemed possible so I did a bit of research this morning. I found a NY Times article from late February this year. Writer Mark Bittman writes: "The aspect one cannot argue is nutrition: Incredibly, the…

I posted this on the wrong message board, whoops. Let's try this again! After reading an earlier post I thought I'd start a thread so we can all get a variety of great things to eat for breakfast. To feel satisfied until your morning snack or lunch, be sure to have a combination of protein, carbs, healthy fats, and a few…

What's for Breakfast?
After reading an earlier post I thought I'd start a thread so we can all get a variety of great things to eat for breakfast. To feel satisfied until your morning snack or lunch, be sure to have a combination of protein, carbs, healthy fats, and a few "free" foods. I'm going through "Skinny Chicks Don't Eat Salads" right…

Healthy eating on a Budget
So I checked out :Skinny Chicks Don't Eat Salads" from the library a couple of weeks ago. For the most part, I kinda already knew a lot of the information but I've learned a lot. There's a lot of great food ideas and meal plans. I've never followed a "meal plan" before because it's hard to do feeding a family of four with…

Healthy Super Bowl Food?
I Was talking with my sister-in-law last night about snacks we can bring for the game today at my mother-in-law's. We agreed that healthy will be best and came up with a lot of great ideas. I just now got an e-mail that said we're having the following: green chili stew, bell peppers, carrots, cucumbers, corn for salsa,…

Today is day 30 of my body transformation. I get up at 4 to do my P90X workout so I have time to get the kids and myself ready and get us out the door and to school on time. I'm also eating right and drinking about 6-9 glasses of water a day. My family is broke....like really bad. I teach the 3rd grade and as a public…

HRM & Calories Burned
Today is the day 28th of my 90 day journey with P90X.I didn't have a HRM the first couple of weeks and found that I was super hungry. I had a sneaking feeling that the MFP calculations, were not right for me. I got a HRM from Wal-Mart and according to it, I'm burning anywhere from 600-1300 calories depending on the…

P90X Calories Burned?
My HRM says I burn a lot more calories than I see others posting what they burn. Could it be that my HRM is inaccurate? For instance I burned more calories doing Yoga (about 1,200) than Kenpo (about 900). What do you burn?

Weigh in
This is day 21 of my total body transformation. I'm set at 1200 calories a day and I'm on the P90X program. With exercise daily calorie usually are anywhere from 1400 - 2000. Tomorrow is my weigh-in and measurement day and I'm kinda nervous. Week one, 1 pound lost. Week 2, 1 pound lost. I started my monthly "lady time" a…

Eating right, exercise, and "lady time"
Ok ladies, during your monthly "lady time" do you adjust your calories? My set daily goal is 1,200 but this morning I burned a lot (about 1,000). It's day 1 for me and I'm just not that hungry. I don't know if I can eat all of my calories today. What should I do? What do you do?

Girl Scout Cookies
It's that time of year again! We must be strong. I was cookie mom last year and my daughter is selling them again this year. My advice, what I'm doing is, don't keep them in the house. They are too much of a temptation for me. We let each kiddo get a box but I didn't get any for myself. Here is a look at the serving size…

Calories
This is day 16 of my "Get Healthy" Journey. So far I think it's going well. I'm exercising everyday (P90X) and eating enough, I think. On non-cardio days my calories are set at 1300. The cardio days vary in the neighborhood of 2000. Are you supposed to eat all of your calories? If I don't eat all of my calories, how close…

Weight Gain?!
This is day 15 of my body transformation. I weighed in and had only lost 1 pound from last week! What am I doing wrong? I'm on the P90X program and eat about 1300 calories a day. Feel free to take a look at my food/exercise diary. I know muscle weighs more than fat but I'm feeling pretty discouraged. I'm trying to…

Calorie-free & Low-calorie Foods
(I just posted this in my blog but wanted to share it here) I’ve been actively involved with MFP for the past week and a half and I feel great! I’m exercising every day and watching what I eat. Before I started I must have been eating about twice what I am now. It’s good for me to see the nutritional content of the things…

Are calories burbed while sick?
I've had a super bad allergy attack/sinus infection the past three days. I'm feeling better each day but I'm feeling ravenous! I left work early yesterday and other than exercise have been taking it easy. Maybe it's because I'm little bored. Either way I'm really really hungry!

Help!
Yesterday I got hit with a major allergy attack. You now the kind where you sneeze like 10 times in a row. Today I have a lot of chest pain but sadly this is not out of the ordinary for me. On top of that I developed a sty on my eye lid. Suffice to say I had to send myself home from school today. I don't know if it's…

Calories per day (40-30-30)
I saw something on the news the other day and I was curious on your thoughts about this. The doctor said that people should follow the rule of 40-30-30. 40% of your daily calories at breakfast, 30% at lunch, and 30% at dinner. Since I try to have two small snacks I think next week I'm going to try a modified version (ex:…

This time I'm going to do it!
I've tried since high school to loose weight, tone up, get healthy...you know what I mean. I am 31 and weigh 177 pounds. I do not feel good about the way I look. I don't like the way I look and this time I'm going to do something about it. I'm going to get fit, healthy, lean and sexy! Here's a little background on…
