This is day 16 of my "Get Healthy" Journey. So far I think it's going well. I'm exercising everyday (P90X) and eating enough, I think. On non-cardio days my calories are set at 1300. The cardio days vary in the neighborhood of 2000. Are you supposed to eat all of your calories? If I don't eat all of my calories, how close do I need to be so I maintain my metabolism and not ruin the hard work I've been doing? I know if you don't eat enough your body goes into starvation. What do all of you think?

I run every morning and burn close to 1,000 cals. I eat as close to the total as possible. Varying hitting the number, going over a little(100 cals) and pulling up short (200) is a good strategy to "keep the body guessing". After my first 11 days on here which was my first 14 days back to running after an injury recovery, I lost 4.5 pounds. So, summing up, eat your calories. The goal calories you start with every day is set up with a defecit already according to your weightloss goal. 1 pound = 3500 cals so to lose 1 pound a week it sets your defecit at 500 cals a day. 7 days x 500 = 3500.
