You have to try this tomato soup!
It's a fairly clean recipe, and very filling. I adapted this from a 17 day diet recipe, but didn't measure precisely. This is my closest approximation: 1 tbsp olive oil 1 tbsp crushed garlic Basil 5 mini bell peppers (we buy ours in bags from Costco) Mix these ingredients in a soup pot - it sautées the garlic while…

Whey vs. Casein Protein - helpful info
I frequently hear the various pros and cons to each one of these proteins and ran across an article in HERS magazine that I thought was simple and clear, in case any others are confused: WHEY: Whey is one of milk's two proteins. Whey's primary characteristic is its digestibility. Once in the body, it breaks down quickly,…

High protein foods?
I have recently switched my ratios to 40 % carbs, 40% protein, 20% fat (to switch it up and get my metabolism going again). What I have noticed is that it is incredibly difficult to find foods that have more grams of protein than carbs. For example: chicken breast - 12 g carbs, 10 g protein nuts - 5 g carbs, 3 g protein…

10 Minute Trainer
I bought this series for my dad for Father's Day. He already has p90x and has had good success. Out of curiosity, I tried the videos out this morning. I did two sets of 10 minute workouts. I wasn't super impressed - but it's just my first try. Has anyone had good luck with these?

BEFORE a bad weekend...
I just read this in a magazine article and love the advice.... To start off your weekend right, try a quick walk/run right after work, and cooking a healthy dinner BEFORE you go out and do something fun! Center your activities around friends, not food! This sets your mind for the entire weekend. * Also - if you just had a…

Hungry Girl gooey cinnamon rolls
These are straight out of her cookbook- they really satisfied my insane craving for some carbs and sugar! And for only 126 calories per iced roll: Dough: 1 package Pillsbury reduced fat crescent roll dough 16 sprays I can't believe it's not butter! spray Filling: 1/4 cup brown sugar (not packed) 1/4 cup Splenda 1/2 tb…

Anyone in the same boat?
This is my third full week of doing MFP, and I love it! However, the first two weeks I lost a pound, and just weighed this week- no difference. I have been lifting weights along with cardio and realize that can add weight, but it is still depressing! I was just wondering if there is anyone similar to my height (5'5 and 135…

Flaxseed - to grind or not to grind?
My husband and I are trying to make a lifestyle change, We just incorporated several new foods that I don't know much about. I bought flaxseed, after I read about its many benefits, in whole seed form. I sprinkle it on many things. Since then, I've heard that there is no benefit in flaxseed unless it is completely ground.…
