Dirty old man at the gym
So I see this old man at the gym. He is overweight, wearing khakis and suspenders, and walking with a cane. I think to myself, good for him. Until I get on the angled leg curl machine. The equipment in my gym is super close together, so when people walk by, you have to pull your legs in, or they don't have room to walk by.…

Hi all
Hey everyone.... just learned of this group thru the main forums. Doesn't seem like a very active group though. I'm a 37 yo woman born with aortic stenosis. Had corrective surgery at 7 and will have valve replacement when I am older. Hope you are all well.

Buying a bike. What do I need?
I will be purchasing my first road bike this week. I decided that as part of my health and fitness goals, to complete a sprint tri next year. I will be going to a well reputed local bike shop for my bike, so I am sure they will set me up with a good bike for me needs. However, what other gear do you find a necessity of…

hows everyone doing?
So far I am up to 28.04 running miles this month, out of the 50 I have pledged myself, and not including any biking. Thanks to this challenge, I have built up my endurance, and have completed a 5k distance running nonstop, once on my treadmill, and then this morning outside!! I am well on my way to my 50 miles. But more…

NEED ROAD BIKE HELP PLEASE!
So I have set my mind to completing a triathlon next year as a long term fitness goal. I need a bike! I can not afford to spend tons of money on a bike. I also know next to nothing about bikes and bike terms. Looking for someone knowledgeable about bikes to pm me, maybe look at a couple online, and give me opinions....…

When do you call yourself a runner?
I have just gotten into running within the past few months. I ran my first mile ever in April before doing a dirty girl mud run. Then I stopped running. Now I am up to running 2.5 miles nonstop on my treadmill, mix in a bit if walking when on the road. Anyways, I still consider myself someone that is learning to run. At…

hrm with a heart condition?
So I am looking to get a hrm, but not sure what to get. I have a heart problem, which required corrective surgery as a kid, and will require a valve replacement when I am older. While working out, I am supposed to stay at the lower end of the heart rate scale and would like to get a hrm. Here is my concern. I know the…

Bruises from running
Let me preface this by saying I am a very fair skinned redhead. I bruise rather easily. I just seriously started a running program within the last two weeks. Suddenly, I am noticing random and unexplained bruises popping up on my legs. I cannot equate a single bruise to a specific injury. Has anyone else experienced this?…

Fat2Fit radio question
On fat2fit radio, when calculating bmr/tdee! I have only heard it suggested on here, to use the military body fat calculator, which says I am 35.6% body fat. I have been using that one. Went to check my body fat percentage, accidentally clicked on fat2fits original calculator, so I played along, did those measurements,…

Logging daily activities?
First I would like to start this post by qualifying it with....I am just asking questions so don't get all defensive and rude. I am not judging anyone here! Trying to educate myself. I see people logging daily activities, like cleaning, carrying laundry, carrying a baby. Doesn't mfp already account for daily calories…

Girls... My funny NSV... tell me yours!
So this is a funny nsv for me. I am not by any means large chested. At 208 lbs, I was only in a 38 C. After giving birth to two kids, breast feeding them both, yeah well the girls have more or less disappeared on me. BUT, after losing just about 30 pounds, I realized this morning that my boobs now stick out farther than my…

level 3
Ok, so I ended up behind everyone I think due to my si going out in me. I started level 3 today. I must say tho, every 5th workoyt, I have been subbing in either burn fat boost metabolism, or no more trouble zones. Starting level 3, after no more trouble zones, was quite the challenge!

Fat2Fitradio v scoobyworkshop
I am looking for a couple things, without making this a really long thread. I have crunched all the numbers on the fat2fitradio site AND did the calorie calculator on the scoobysworkshop site. Between the sites, I come up with a 250 calorie difference on what I should be eating to lose. That is a big calorie difference. I…

Heavy lifting alternatives?
Ok, so here is my deal. I was born with a heart problem. Had open heart surgery as a kid. Will need additional surgery when I am older. With that being said, I would LOVE to do lifting, but that is the one thing I have always been told not to do due to my heart problem. I push many things in life, but not willing to push…

Changing tastebuds?
Do you have a food that was your favorite before beginning your weightloss journey, that you gave up, and no longer liked when you tried it again? Mine is ranch dressing. I used to eat it on everything. 80 days on mfp and I hadn't had a drop. Today I worked out hard, so I allowed myself some on my salad, and I didn't even…

yoga advice needed
So I went to my doctor yesterday. Had to bring my baby in. First thing he said to me was to compliment me on my weightloss. Yay! Then we discussed my SI that keeps going out on me. He told me to strengthen my core. Six months post baby, 25 pounds down, but many more to go, so I know my core needs strengthening! He told me…

Trying to figure out my bmr/tdee to lose weight!
So I started out great losing weight. Down 22 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight last year. Woohoo. Then.... I stalled. Correction, gained a couple pounds. Okay, so after reading everyone posting about eating more to lose weight, I decided to research this whole bmr/tdee thing. Hey, if I can eat more to lose weight then I…

Rest before 5k?
Running my first 5k in two weeks. Actually a Dirty Girl Mud Run. Was wondering how many rest days do you give yourself before doing a 5k? I don't want to over do it before the run, but also don't want to go too many days without exercising. Thanks!
