Back again
Hey everyone Joined MFP 2 years ago weighing 270. Got down to my target of 210 within 6 months by October 2013. Anyways, I was diagnosed with renal cancer in October last year and had to have my right kidney removed. Long story short I should've commenced training again in March but here I sit rejoining MFP weighing 252.…

Back after 12 months
A success story of sorts. Looking forward to speaking to some old friends on here. I've recently beaten renal cancer. At 31 it was a very difficult time but I'm still only 3 weeks after surgery and still very much recovering. I did lose 70lbs in 2013 and I sit here now 22lbs from where I want to be hence the reason for…

First Mile!
Ok don't laugh all you seasoned runners. Today I ran my first mile on a treadmill. Around 13 minutes. I've not ran since school really but since I'm 42lbs down at present I've been doing a few interval runs whilst doing my normal incline walking. Went for it today and ran 1.6km (1 mike) and felt great. On a side note…

Anyone worried about slow losses..
Ok so this is the motivational thread so ill try to do just that. Firstly, like many of you reading this, I'm no expert. I learn something new on here everyday. I was 266 6 weeks ago and today I'm 243. I went from 266 to 252 in 3 weeks but then stayed there for 10 days. Yes I was disillusioned a couple of times I weighed…

Lifting beginner here
I'm 55lb down and looking for a change of direction. I'm 30 and hit the gym 4/5 days a week. It's like tunnel vision in that I go straight to the treadmill bypassing all the guys lifting. I'm kind of in maintenance but now want to tone and work on that ideal beach body for next summer. Problem is I genuinely have NO IDEA…

6 years later
In 2007 I lost 50lbs to get down to 210. I put it all back on, hence the reason I joined here, and now I'm back down to 216 so only 6lb more than I was 6 years ago. However my love handles are a bit worse off than they were back then. Is this simple because I'm 6 years older and the weight increase and subsequent loss has…

November Running Challenge For Beginners!
Apologies if something similar exists?! I'm fairly new to running and run 8 miles per week in October. I'm stepping it up to 10 in November so: 1-7 10 miles 8-14 10 miles 15-21 10 miles 22-30 10 miles 40 miles! Then if we get a decent following we can increase together for December!

Running injury?
I've been running 10 miles per week on a treadmill for a month now so I've racked up some miles. On Saturday night at around 11pm I was bored indoors so decided to run for the first time outside. I ran for 25 minutes (No idea on mileage) and felt GREAT. I mean really good. I wanted to carry on but thought ill stop now and…

51lbs down face comparison
Can't figure out how to put it into this thread but my profile pic is what I'm referring to. The left is me at my 27th birthday and the right is me at my 30th birthday party last night. 268 v 213 44 waist vs 34 37 BMI vs 29.5 Very happy and just 18lbs from goal.

Healthcare and running?
Introduced running recently to my life and was wondering if there was anything you experienced runners buy to help with recovery or something along those lines? I'm in England by the way. I'm running 8-10 miles per week and slowly increasing it by a mile a week for now. Someone mentioned cod liver oil?

Just bought a HRM
From Argos. It's called target fitness and cost £29.99. It's a watch and a heart rate belt. Can it be used without the belt is my first question?

A guy I know....
Has lost 42lbs I found out yesterday. I saw him for the first time in about 3 months and congratulated him on how he was looking. I told him I'd lost 50lbs in 6 months and he replied that he'd lost 42 in about 2 months. Blimey I thought and asked him what he'd done. He told me a lot of exercise and restricting himself to…

First 5k
Not sure if anyone recalls but about a month back I posted that I'd run my first mile. That was after around 2 weeks of gently building it up running 0.4miles then walking 0.2 etc.. Today I ran my first 5k in 37.30. I've only been into my running for about a month and I'm buzzing right now! I started c25k but deviated to…

New day new week :)
Good morning everyone! It's 815 here in London Town and I've returned from my 90 minute gym session. Feeling great! Today is a new day and the start of a new week so to anyone not feeling it 'Come on! Go to the gym, take that walk, do those squats or just have a great logging day!!' Remember: Whether you think you can or…

Reasons for a plateau?
This word gets used quite a bit on here! If one is eating at a deficit and working out well and generally following MFP as it should why does a plateau occur??? Say a 3 week one. If you've burnt 10500 calories less than you've eaten over 3 weeks why would you not lose 1.5 pounds? Just curious.

Help
I'm 29, 5 ft 10, 224lbs and workout 60 minutes 5x per week in my gym. My TDEE is anywhere from 2500-2900 so I take 2700 as an average. TDEE -20 would therefore be 2160. I eat between 1900-2200 most days. Question is how do I workout my maintenance number? Is it simply your bmr?

40lb down 20 to go...
May 13th was the start of my new life choice and I weighed 266 (19 stone). 4 months in and I'm down to 226 (16 stone) In that time I've had a few McDonald's, ice cream and even 1 whole full fat coke as well as numerous other treats (Open diary). I feel absolutely great. I want to get down to 196 but wouldn't be worried…

Chicken from butchers
I always ask the guy to tell me the weight. Today it was 535g for 2 big pieces of chicken breast with the skin left on. In MFP 1 chicken breast, butchers comes in at 247 calories for 150g meaning that these 2 pieces would contain around 820 calories. Does this seem right????

Triceps burning!!
Only started weight training properly (Following a programme) on Thursday. I know about DOMS so I'm assuming this is it as yesterday my tri's ached but today they are burning. I followed a lot of advice on here and didn't sacrifice weight for form but I'd just like to ask if this is totally a good thing? I Kindavlike the…

New to lifting
I started my journey in May and have lost 35lbs so far. All cardio exercise wise but now I want to start strength training. The problem is I'm so weak!! I worked on my chest today and started with 12 reps at 10kgs on dumbbell flys, moving onto 12 reps of 12.5 which was enough so I then done a further 8 reps at 12.5kg. I…

Almond Milk
Just bought some as I've seen a few rave about it. Bought a 1L bottle and it says 100Ml contains 13 calories (Unsweetened) What's the catch? Does it taste awful??? 130 calories in the whole litre bottle??? Seems too good to be true.

Breakfast cereals
How high in carbs are they jeez!!! Any ideas for lower carb breakfast would be much appreciated?

Stag Do
I thought vodka was 0 calories!! Just input Smirnoff vodka into MFP and it says a single measure contains 78 calories. There was me thinking I'd have vodka and diet cokes all night ha ha!! Oh well a few wont hurt eh?

TDEE question (Yawn I know sorry!)
All my details input and I'm given a bmr reading of 2100. TDEE is between 2800/3000. For TDEE minus 20 should I literally just go somewhere in the middle (2900) and deduct 20% giving me a target of 2320 calories per day? Also I have around 30lbs to my goal weight is TDEE -30 too aggressive?

Jalapeño peppers.
I know there are no magical foods in particular but is it true that these speed up your metabolism or is it bs?
-
Quick question.
If your MFP goals are set to include no exercise and you have a calorie allowance of 2000 MFP is set up so as you lose a certain amount of lbs yes? Say 2lb for example. If you then burnt 500 calories 7x per week would you not lose another 2lb of fat totalling 4 lbs per week? Just wondering?

Tesco finest foods
I'm talking things like their paella, Malaysian chicken curry etc... Fairly low in calories especially the curry and its their finest range but are these things classed as processed? I suppose they are? Also, the sodium in the paella is 650mg and the curry is 950mg (See my diary if you prefer) Are these ok for weight loss…

Manual calories?
Threw my cheap pedometer away as it was totally rubbish!! I'm in the process of walking locally and, until I find a decent HRM, am I ok to just estimate calories burnt at 4 per minute? Is this realistic? I'm 240 and in my third month of gym membership so clocked up a lot of miles on the treadmill so in a decent enough…

Insanity fitness test
Did my test for the first time last night. WOW!! I sweated like I never have on a treadmill it was literally dripping off. My legs are so heavy this morning though and the backs of my legs are so sore. I managed: 93 switch kicks 28 power jacks 33 power knees 12 power jumps 5 globe jumps 8 suicide jumps 2 push up jacks 20…
