4th time to get it right?
I'm 2 weeks into my 4th occasion losing weight having ballooned to an all time high of 280. In 2007 I went down to 210 from 266. In 2013 I went down again to 210 from around 260. In 2019 I got down to 224 through taking up running but a bad achilles injury stopped that and I've been in bad old habits since. So I'm back on…

Couple of questions please..
I've walked over 300 miles since January 1st to aid my weight loss. How would this have affected my TDEE ie other than walking (fairly slow not brisk) I'm sedentary so should I put sedentary or active? Also, in terms of eating back calories for MFP purposes I've read contrasting reviews on calories burned by walking. I'm…

Had enough right now
Hi. I'm 37. I've lost 17lbs since November. I'm down to 247 from 264. I eat 1900 a day of the same pre logged foods. Every single day I eat the same as I know the calorie content and it's just easier for me to monitor. I've walked 290 miles since January 1st and started running a mile a day since March 1st. I've lost 2lbs…

My journey...again...3rd time
Hi everyone. 37 year old here from London, England. I lost 60lbs in 2007 in about 5 months - ate too little and exercised too much. Looked great but didn't teach myself enough of the lifestyle habits that would last longterm. In 2013 I lost about 50lbs in 6 months. Cut out all carbs and exercised like a demon. Again, short…

Advice please!
Hi. I'm currently 252 and very active walking 3-8 miles every day. MFP is set to lightly active and a 2lb per week loss goal. It has my calories at 1940. I dont input my exercise calories but to lose 2lb a week with just diet that would suggest my maintenance calories would be 2940 no? According to all calculators it is…

Cons of walking?
Due to being off work and starting my latest (Hopefully final!) Loss journey I'm walking around 6 miles a day. This is intentional exercise in addition to the normal day to day activity ie school drop off/pick ups. Today I walked 8 miles (19000 steps) I know the pros but there arent any negatives are there?

4th time lucky?
Back up to 266lbs as of last week. 3 times I've gone down to 220lbs from around 266 and put it back on every time. Trouble is each time when I get down to 220lbs I cant get any lower. Like not even 219. So I'll be back in a year or so when I'm down to 220 for some advice. I remember 10 years ago I got down to 220 and…

Scale issue
Now I know in the grand scheme of things it's not a massive issue but when you're losing very slowly like I am (intentionally as my deficit is only 300 a day) it's annoying! My scales are showing big swings depending on where I place them! I'm varying from 103.5 to 105.0. I'm weighing naked first thing and after a toilet…

Weight loss support group
I'm on the above Facebook group. I enjoy it on the whole and keeps me accountable at times. However, some members include a woman who weighed 250lbs and often tells people she ate 800 calories a day for over a year and lost 120lbs. She recommends it for a year before hitting maintenance. Others include the fad dieters who…

TDEE question
Hi. I'm a 232lb man aged 35. My TDEE ranges from 2500-2650 depending on which website I visit. My BMR is closer to 2160 according to these calculations. So my question is this. I'm aware these are averages but let's say on a lazy day I burn hardly anything. No gym just lazing around indoors. By eating my 1900 calories my…

Replacing cows milk with almond
For no other reason other than it tastes ok and it's much lower on calories and carbs. I don't drink tea or coffee so I only have milk on cereal so it could save me 150 calories a day. Is there anything else I need to know a out replacing cows milk with unsweetened almond milk?

Alternate weeks?
Is there anything wrong with alternating weeks of weight loss with maintenance? So for one week eating 1900 which is MFPs allowance to lose 1.5lb per week then the next eating at 2400 which is maintenance. No other reason than I want to try something different and am in absolutely no rush to lose the weight. SW 270 CW 239…

New to lifting
Just wanted a quick expert opinion please. I'm 35 and have hardly ever lifted in my life. I've just made up my own programme based on some advice of gym lifting pals and YouTube videos including hammer curls and 3 other bicep moves do 4 in total. The weight is really quite light but I'm struggling to write this message I…

Calf Raises
I'm looking for a couple of answers here please. Firstly I've seen videos where the instructor holds the raise for a second or two then returns their feet flat to the ground. Another video shows the instructor lifting into the raise then on the decline not putting their soles flat to the floor but slightly raised still but…

Great Weekend!
Yesterday was normal until about 6pm. Last minute a few pals came over and a few beers, crisps and chocolate trifles later I'd eaten 3500 calories. MFP gives me 1880 daily. So a lovely 6 mile walk today and tomorrow and I'll be right back on track after some lovely food and drink yesterday. No guilt, fitting into a weekly…

Opinions please
Hi again. I've lost 23 lbs in 10 weeks. My CW is 243 and my goal weight is 200. I'm set at 2lb per week loss but that was since I started losing again on 1.6.18 weighing 266. At this lighter weight and with 43lbs til GW should I now increase my calories slightly by setting to lose 1.5lbs per week? MFP currently gives me…

Time to change?
Hi guys 9 weeks in I'm down to 243 from 266. When I started I programmed in 2lb per week loss. I'm currently eating 1880 per day and am strictly sticking to that and losing 2lb nicely. My goal weight is 190 so I'm 53lbs from goal weight. Do I still have enough weight on me to stick to a 2lb weight loss and if so how many…

Running on the spot
Quick question. I work 14 hour shifts and often use this as an excuse not to exercise so I have started running on the spot. I know I'll be burning a few bonus calories but in terms of fitness building is it half as good as real running?

3500 debunked?
I was just watching a video online who said that the 3500 calorie to a lb of fat is a debunked myth and it's actually closer to 3600? Anything in this?

Quick guess please 😃
249lbs male I haven't got a fitbit yet but would I be right in guesstimating that an hour walk at moderate pace would burn around 5 calories per minute totalling APPROX 300 in an hour?

Shake that weight
I keep seeing this pop up on my Facebook. I'm actually getting more and more annoyed as I'm getting further down the comments page reading more and more people advocate it. Not one person (before me sorry but not sorry) was stating the obvious that it works as they're in a deficit which could also be achieved the correct…

Staying calm to help others
Hi again. I've lost 11 lbs in 7 weeks. Starting at 261 I'm now 250 which is good. However, despite 10 good days with 0 over calorie days, walking 5 miles 3 times a week and doing everything recommended I've apparently lost ZERO weight. Now I know that's impossible as my calorific deficit over the past 10 days is 7800 so I…

New programme
Hi all. Serial yo yo dieter here however this time I'm in it for the long haul. I'm keen to introduce some consistent exercises into my life such as press ups and burpees etc.. Should I simply go to failure and keep an eye on my progression or stick to a solid routine? I'm keen to 'sculpt the old man boobs so press ups and…

Help please (poop query 😂)
During the last 3 or 4 years when my diet was awful I would number 2 almost daily and often it would be loose. In the last 6 weeks since I've started my journey again, although last time, I'm going every 2 or 3 days and it's solid. I'm borderline constipated too today. I'm drinking around 2 litres of water per day and…

Help needed to understand..
Hi all I'm back logging after a break of 2 years and 50lbs gained. I have a question. My knowledge of logging and counting etc is decent. I currently weigh 252 having weighed 260 just 14 days ago. I've been logging, exercising and drinking plenty of water. I get bored at times and like to mix things up. I've read pros and…

Uk food labels
I suppose this applies everywhere not just in the UK. If one were to eat a tesco ready meal Paella (for the record I'm not in a habit of eating sodium high ready meals but you know sometimes time etc) and it says calories contained are 650 just how accurate is that figure?

Question about pee :)
Hey guys! I'm 34 and have yo yo'd all my adult life. I'm back logging and on week 3 now (Lost 7lbs) and diet is good. I've drunk only water in these past 2 weeks and milk with cereal. My pee is not really getting any lighter though? Anything I need to worry about? I should add that I lost a kidney to cancer 3 years ago so…

UK query
Just weighed myself in boots. I've always gripped the handles when weighing myself. I noticed today it days not to unless instructed. my weight gripping is 17st 6 lbs. Not gripping is 17st 12. Now although a nuisance the extra 6 lbs aren't a big problem but what is the correct weight and why such a big difference. thanks.
