Tracking exercise
How do I record exercise for classes? We are doing a "group power" class which is part cardio, part strength. I have no idea how many calories I burn doing it.... I'm not sure it my cardio monitor would be very accurate, since I read that they weren't so good with weight type workouts. Tis class is to music, quickly moving…

How quickly we slide.....
Two weeks ago I came down with bronchitis. I am only just starting to feel better after four days flat out on my bed, and a week+ trying to recover. I knew I wasn't anywhere close to fully recovered, but if there was any doubt, my first time back to the gym tonight confirmed it. I have been doing NROL4W, just finishing…

Fat vs muscle loss
I have been reading lots of posts in my spare time and just started reading the New Rules of Lifting for Women. Lots of good advice out there... trying to sift through it for what will work best for me. I have been here at MFP since the first part of January, slowly changing my eating to more healthy, and for the first…

Can't increase weights?
I have been doing NROL4W for a few weeks now.... I have made some good progress, but now I seem to be running into a wall with my dumbell lifts. Today was workout 5, so should have been 3 sets of 10. Last 2 timesI had done 10 pounds in each arm. So today I bumped to 12.5. As soon as I lifted my arms, I knew I was in…

Protecting the back
I just started NROL4W and so far am loving it (love reading about it - the doing it may kill me!!) I and all my family have back issues. How do I know if I am doing deadlifts right or wrong? All my life I have heard "lift with your legs, not your back." Right now I'm not having trouble with it (only lifting a 40 pound…

Exhausted!!
So I began here at MFP at the beginning of January. My plan was/is to lose somewhere around 30 pounds. I started - like many people - by slashing calories and starting to exercise. I was nearly starving at the 1200-1300 calories MFP suggested for me. After spending many hours reading here, just finished New Rules of…

Changing calorie goal?
I weigh in on Wednesdays, so when I updated my weight today, MFP changed my daily calorie goals from 1320 to 1290. I know it isn't a lot, but I'm wondering if that is typical? I think I lost about 2 pounds since last week. Most days I have to work hard to keep at or under the daily calories, so losing 30 more a day is…

Body Fat % ?
I'm not sure it this is the right forum to ask this question but... My bathroom scale is a Taylor brand "body fat analyzer & scale" type. Bought it probably 10 years ago or so. The scale is fairly accurate, though usually about 3 pounds higher than at my doctor's office. My question is about the body fat % readout. Mine…

Counting Calories burned
I am new to MFP and learning how to use the site as well as making numerous changes in my eating and exercise habits. Thanks for the positive attitudes here and the general respect and encouragement to everyone! My question: I go to a club to exercise. Due to various injuries, I am somewhat limited in what I can do there.…

Adapting bread recipe - help!
Our family has a favorite roll dough recipe and I want to make it and be able to eat one now and then without messing up my whole day's intake. It is a refrigerated roll dough - the killer calories come from 2/3 cup shortening, 2 eggs, and 7 cups of flour. Obviously, I can't make it without the flour, I could try using one…
