Those poor little cameras
All those gazillion before-and-afters, and the camera itself never seems to have lost an ounce. :D

posture?
I've got horrible posture. Even when I force myself to stand up as straight as I can, there's still a curve. I don't know how much better it'll look after I lose all the excess weight. I'd like to hear from any of you that have had posture as bad and resolved it. Did you do anything special, or did it come naturally as…

Eat-to-Live peeps?
Anyone following the Eat to Live lifestyle outlined by Dr. Fuhrman? I recently started following his advice, though I'm not perfect (which I'm okay with)

Success stories where no calories counted?
I know this site focuses on calorie counting, but I'm burnt out by counting. Again. I know we humans have been able to be fit and healthy, for ages upon ages, without counting calories. Can someone who has lost all their weight by eating healthy and exercising appropriately point out their success story? Let me add-I'm not…

Easy recipe for your favorite whole foods vegetarian meal?
I've been making a switch to slowly work my way up to 90% plant based diet. However I find that I really don't know, in spite of 25 years of being a vegetarian, how to make a variety of meals other than salad that are made up of veggies, fruits, nuts, and beans. If you have a favorite recipe that is... -mostly veggies or…

when we don't want to count calories
Right now I'm trying something different, and for those of you who are doing the same, just an FYI that I posted in the suggestions forum this: "It'd be nice if in the food columns, that we had the option for a column for #of fruit servings a day, #of vegetable servings, #of protein servings (not how much protein, but how…

Funny poem - Be Glad Your Nose is on Your Face
Be Glad Your Nose is on Your Face by Jack Prelutsky Be glad your nose is on your face, not pasted on some other place, for if it were where it is not, you might dislike your nose a lot. Imagine if your precious nose were sandwiched in between your toes, that clearly would not be a treat, for you'd be forced to smell your…

Mortified
Had to get a mandatory physical today. The hospital gown and all. My wife had hers right before and it looked like it'd be no big deal, but for mine I had to "drop trousers" Completely embarrassed. Anyone else get a physical recently?

Name your own fitness program!
Thought it might be fun to see people make up names for a fitness program, like if they were to make a DVD. How about... 365 Day SQUISH! "Whew...just got done getting squished. I'm on day 46!"

Have you found your faith has helped you in your weight loss efforts? Faith or spiritual practice.

What's your food "vice"?
That little item you fit into your calories, just 'cuz? Mine's a bottled frappuchino. I do try to buy the ones that are light and have only 100 calories, though.

Not just all or nothing, a little NSV
I've been sick and my foot's been hurting from a long walk carrying groceries. Normally this would mean excusing myself out of doing my workout, which at the moment is 30 Day Shred. Decided I shouldn't fall into my old habits of using excuses, so I did what I could. I did everything except allow for impact on my foot, so I…

Wanting that breakthrough moment
I wish it really was as simple as flicking a switch in my mind to have that breakthrough moment with whatever mental shift needs to happen. Understanding how to get healthier is a different thing than doing it. Action sometimes feels impossible. I'd like my mind to be my greatest friend & support, not my enemy.

HOLY SHREDDING COW!
Just tried for the first time the famous 30-day shred and that DVD mopped the floor with me. Wifey as well. Both of us gave it a whirl. J.M. is a sadist. But I'm determined to do this...

5 Ways we'll lose weight in the year 2050
Since we're inventing even better robots all the time and those robots are going to invent even better robots than they are, and some of those robots will be tasked to develop ways for non-robots to lose weight... (robots themselves don't have an obesity problem yet) 1. We'll be able to lose weight from any exercise we do…

to blog or not to blog
How do you decide whether you're going to blog about your efforts to get healthier? I've done a few, and I do have a web site that has nothing to do with weight loss, but I don't regularly blog here. I've been going a little back and forth on it, wondering if the added accountability of blogging it will be a positive thing…

the Catch 22 of self-esteem
I've spent the last 22 years of my 36-year-long life with low self-esteem. If I were to get to a healthy weight, I KNOW for a fact it'd do wonders for my self-esteem. Boosted self-esteem leading to boosted self-confidence. Now the flip side: Low self-esteem & low self-confidence make it difficult to consistently lose…

NSV with wasting of 3 bucks
Went for a lunchtime walk & ate my sandwich at the same time. That's not the NSV. I caved to a desire for a frappuchino while I was out, in part because I have a cold and I indulge myself when sick. Not NSV. Bought the frap. Not the NSV. About 3 minutes later and 4 sips, tossed the 90% of the frappuchino in the trash…

Saw a friend today who lost over 100 lbs
I did a double-take today. A friend I hadn't seen in a while was right in front of me, and I didn't recognize her right away. 110 lbs lost. Amazing. She did it with Weight Watchers & swimming. She's in her mid-50s so the loss is such a major gain. Gave me a little kick in the pants--i better keep working on my goal.

100 miles in 2 weeks challenge
Hi- In June I'm going to challenge myself to walk 100 miles in 2 weeks. This is about 2 hours of walking a day, a little more on weekends. I could start tomorrow but I think that'd be a mistake. Instead, today I started training by walking just an hour. I'm going to walk an hour a day until June, then start my challenge. I…

33 lbs lost and I feel the same
I wish I could say I felt a lot healthier, but I don't. I went from 300 to 267 and I feel the same. Not a bit healthier. I don't know if it's all mental or if it's just because it took over a year to lose that much. Wondering when I'm going to start feeling the difference.

If you were on a desert island...
...and you could have only one food item available to you each day for the rest of your life, what would it be. Forget nutrition and all that: on this island, calories are nonexistent and the food has everything a person could need, even if its candy canes. :) I choose pizza. Point me to this pizza tree.

Inconsistencies
I've read the posts on eating your exercise calories, here on MFP, and I understand what it's saying. On the other hand, research into methods of losing weight such as the Biggest Loser diet doesn't match that philosophy. They don't eat their exercise calories. They also work out a crazy amount of hours, which is not…

The Carpe Diem Team- small group wanted
I'd like to form a team with about 6 members max, to keep it small so that we can help each other better. Calling it the Carpe Diem Team. (Carpe Diem is Latin for Seize the Day!) First 5 people to reply to this post would join me to form a team? Then beyond that if other small groups wanted to start their own, we could…

POLL- WATER amounts
If you don't mind, I would find this helpful to know, just for my own thought process, for those of you who manage to stay within your calories: 1- What's your average weekly weight loss? 2- How many oz (or liters) of water do you drink daily?

Does writing count as cardio?
About to spend 6 solid hours writing today, hoping to complete another chapter of my current novel. This means no gym! Typing burns 1,000 calories an hour, right?
