Success of one day - What's yours?
Just a simple post: I tracked one full day yesterday, Day 1 of trying again. It's one step in what I hope is many. What was your success yesterday?

I feel so out of control
I feel like Sisyphus, pushing the rock up the hill, only to slide back down, and looking down to see that the reason I slide down is me. Under my feet are the broken promises to myself, the self-doubt, the self-sabotage. I haven't had more than a few consistent days in such a long time, that it's feeling pretty hopeless…

Burning off the junk food calories won't undo it
I really had a lightbulb moment the other night. Just because we exercise enough to burn off any excess calories, isn't going to undo: -the fact that a lot of foods have too much fat, cholesterol, or toxins in them that our body has to detox. -the lowered amount of actual nutrition we get when the foods took the place of…

Daily, and I mean daily practice
How common is it to have a daily practice? I started practicing yoga on Christmas Eve and haven't missed a day since. My goal's simply to do at least 5 minutes, though I average 15 minutes each day. I am very much a novice, though I have practiced on and off since I was a teen. This is the longest I have practiced daily…

New to the Group
Hi guys- I've been practicing yoga on and off half my life, but haven't ever managed a consistent routine any longer than a few weeks. Decided to start again on Christmas Eve and have been aiming to practice at least 5 minutes a day, though it always ends up longer. Using it for spiritual practice and also as physical…

Avoid Train Wrecks
"...1- In cases of a true derailment, you're more than just side-tracked. You're now nestled smack dab in the middle of the next track, facing the wrong direction, and the other train, The Train of Impending Failure, seems to be heading your way. You can see it right through the open doors, right through the cab, where the…

Need help with easy whole foods vegan meals
Confession: I dislike making meals with more than, say, 5 ingredients, and usually prefer simplicity. Can you throw me suggestions for easy to make meals that are just a few ingredients?

When you think they no longer believe in you
"You've lost the weight before, here and there. Sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. You've spent countless times telling people how you succeeded and how it was different that time. You were happy and proud. You might've even had your ego grow as if you had become an expert in health, in fitness, in weight loss. Then you…

Do you remember what it feels like to be healthy? I don't
Here's a blog post I wrote this morning about forgetting what it feels like to be a healthy weight. Those who became overweight as kids can relate to this, especially. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/TheGoblinRoad/view/i-forgot-to-remember-250279

Yoga as a spiritual practice
I personally don't care if someone's Buddhist, Christian, Muslim, Jewish, or anything else: I appreciate all religions. I also don't feel anyone "must" be religious, so don't interpret this post as me trying to convert anyone to anything. That said, I just wanted to share: I've done yoga purely for exercise, to get…

SPLENDA (with calories)
SO I've read this before and wanted to share it here: "Sucralose has no caloric content, and Splenda products have a lower caloric content than sugar. The actual caloric content of a single-serving (1-gram packet) of Splenda is 3.36 calories, 31% of the calories of a single-serving (2.8-gram packet) of granulated sugar…

Women & Weddings (from a guy's point of view)
This is for the women on MFP getting married. If you're about to get married, please trust me: the guy is thrilled, unless it's a shotgun wedding, literally (with dear old dad standing nearby with his double gauge shotgun, fully loaded) I understand that people want to "look their best" for their weddings, including the…

Sodium for those who eat their exercise calories
Curious: For those of you that work out a lot and eat a lot of your exercise calories back (or all), do you find it difficult to keep the sodium amount under the 2,300 mg a day max that doctors recommend? More than that puts one at risk for hypertension, I'm told.

Excuses, Excuses (Every Excuse Must Go)
This was a blog post, but it's my funny ha-ha and funny-strange blogs that get read, not the serious posts, usually. So I'm putting it here as a post instead. It's a message I've wanted to share, in hopes that it benefits someone. I'm betting that we humans are the only ones on the planet with excuses, as far as I know.…
