Antidepressant weight gain
Hi all, Has anyone successfully lost weight that was gained from a side effect of an SSRI? I feel like it will never happen. I gained 30 pounds and had no increase in appetite. This happened over 3 years. I have just been able to discontinue the medication. I had lost some of the weight a year ago but it came back. I feel…

Net calories over weekly goal?
There is a setting for this on my app. Does this mean that even if I go above my deficit a little bit for the week, as long as my net calories above my weekly goal is small (such as 500 or so) I am still losing weight, just at a slower pace?

Help...
Hey guys, So last night I went to dinner with friends and "binged". I had appetizer, 1 drink, entree w/ side, and dessert. I definitely ate past my fullness level but didn't care. I felt like poo-poo because I didn't lose weight last week and my fiance just left for 3 month job training in another state. I think I just…

Stopped losing
Hi all, So I lost the first 3.5 pounds with diet alone. Then the week after I ate too much and luckily I maintained. The week after that I stuck very close to net calories for the week and exercise twice a week and didn't lose. This week I am going to stick very close to net calories again and up my exercise to 3 x per…

Quality sleep and exercise
Hey everyone, My goal now is 3 times per week of 45 minutes cardio. I am not getting quality sleep and it feels awful getting up early for my workouts. I am a light sleeper and my new living situation with my fiance is making it hard for me to get quality sleep, even with a fan for white noise, ear plugs, and eye mask. He…

I actually accomplished something...
I had reached my highest weight at 170 pounds a while ago. So I decreased the dosage of a medication I'm taking that played a part in the weight gain and started logging my calories here. I set my calorie goal only at a slight deficit so it would be practical (not feeling like I was starving myself). The result I was…

Walking tires me out
Hi all, I am trying to increase my step count. Average day is 3000 steps Some effort gets me 5000 steps. Working harder gets me 7500 steps a day which is my goal - even this amount REALLY tires me out and makes me sore. It's not that much! Why am I so tired from this amount?
-
How's this?
I have set my fitness level to lightly active because I can now (and do) walk 7500 steps per day. Do you think this is accurate? I use to get very tired/sore when I walked that much but I've worked up slowly to it. I also do very light additional cardio (15 min elliptical) 3 times per week. My calories for slow weight loss…

Fractured toe and Exercise
Hi all, Last night I fractured my pinky toe, my doctor has me wearing a supportive surgical shoe to keep it from flexing while it heals. It's kind of like a bulky open toed sandal. She said I could walk around in it. Do you think it's okay to do my long walks, only maybe slower for right now while it heals? It's hard to…

Establishing morning routine
Hi all. I've come up with a morning routine I'm very happy with, that includes getting up early and exercising. Sometimes I don't sleep well. I'd like to count on getting 7-8 hours of sleep a night, but sometimes I only get 5-6. This makes me want to sleep in later, which would throw off my schedule including my workouts.…

40 min walk same as four 10 min walks?
Are the benefits the same? I've been told the body goes into fat burning mode after 30 minutes of cardio, so if that's the case wouldn't it be better to walk for 40 min rather than smaller chunks of time?

Help me figure out my workout schedule...
Hey everyone, I stared gaining weight very slowly and steadily due to starting an antidepressant a few years ago (gain of 4 pounds per year). A few months ago, I began doing weight lifting twice a week (1 day is upper body and 1 day is lower body) and 40 minute walks twice a walk. Life gets busy with 50 million things to…

Good news
So the last few weeks have been chaotic, and I wasn't able to get my lifting sessions in, although I did continue walking twice a week for 40 minutes each time. I went back to the gym today for a lower leg routine. I was actually able to increase some of the resistance on some exercises, and some of exercises were easier…

Help keep me sane and going!
Hi, For the last 6 weeks I've been consistently lifting weights twice a week and walking twice a week (40 min fast walk each time). I've also very closely been following the Body for Life eating plan, which I feel great on, too. I have been feeling GREAT and excited to see myself get stronger, and have had MUCH fewer…

Advice - please!
Yesterday, I tried to eat adequate protein for breakfast and lunch, and had some at snacks. Then I was still starving at dinner time and ate a lot of pizza and cookies. How could I have redesigned my meal plan today to prevent that? I was actually surprised at how hungry I felt.

Oops - wore pedometer AND heart rate monitor
Hi all, Tonight I did 20 mins on the gazelle wearing my heart monitor. But I forgot to take off my fitbit zip. So I deleted the gazelle activity I had entered because I didn't want to log double exercise. But I'm not sure the calories burned from the fitbit are showing up either. Does one automatically override the other?

Trigger foods
Hi all, My trigger foods are chips and ice cream. If I want a frozen treat I only keep 100-calorie portions in my house. But the other night I wasn't prepared with healthy snacks and my brother gave me a big bag of chips...I ate almost the whole bag. Sigh. Oh well, hopefully this will remind me for next time how awful I…

Gazelle machine
Hi all, I ordered a Gazelle Edge- very excited about it. Will a fitbit pedometer track the steps? It tracks steps from the elliptical and imports it into MFP which is convenient, so I'm hoping it will track the steps similarly from the Gazelle. If not, would a heart rate monitor be better for tracking calories burned from…

Antidepressants and feeling depressed
Hi, I suppose I never realized that the cause of my weight gain could have been starting a low dose antidepressant. Huh. Anyway, when it starts to get darker outside towards this time of year my symptoms come back at their worst...the dark triggers something for me and my mind goes back to years ago. I hate the feeling.…

Bigger deficit with exercise
Hello all, I would like to aim for a daily deficit of 500 calories (250 through cal restriction and 250 through exercise). Is there a way to make this setting on MFP? I am only seeing the deficit options for calories through food restriction. Just wondering, since seeing things helps motivate me.

Still confused about fitbit!
My calorie goal on MPF is 1500 for a 250 cal deficit per day. I am sedentary. It was be 1750 cal for weight maintenance. I would like to know what my fitbit zip estimates for my BMR. It should also be around 1750 right? I cannot even find on the dashboard where it estimates a calorie goal for me - please help.

Fitbit zip question
Hi all, I love my fitbit zip, starting to use it more now. If I wear it all day and don't do any exercise, the calories it showed I burned should match my maintenance amount on MFP, right? Or wrong? My MFP account is set to sedentary, Now, I want to use the device to track calories burned during exercise. So let's say I do…

Free meal leads to binging
Hi all, As I continue to find areas that need tweaking...please help me with this one. The past 2 weeks I had a free meal on Fri evening when I always go out with friends. It's been a huge setback and I end up binging and eating 1500 cal or more. The free meal turns into a dinner, drinks, dessert, and night snacking, so no…

How do you weigh ALL your food??
Hi guys! I would like to start using my little food scale more often since folks say it is a lot more accurate than estimating and using label packaging to enter calories. It's easy for me to use the scale at home when I'm cooking breakfast or making my lunch sandwich, but... How do you use your food scale when, say, you…

Please help with calorie/activity question
Hello all! I exercise 3 times a week (2 hour -long pilates sessions and one long walk at a brisk pace). When I chose "sedentary" my calorie level per day was at 1500 cals. I was pretty hungry on this amount, with or without exercise added (exercise gave me 150-200 extra calories to eat). I decided to choose the "lightly…
