25 with 70lb to lose - will I get loose skin?
I'm a bit worried about getting loose skin. I'm 25 with 70lb to lose although I'd be happy with 50lb - I'm just going to see what I look and feel like when I get there!! I am going to the gym 3-4x a week and doing HIIT and strength training, and go cycling or walking on a weekend. I've lost about 1lb a week since I started…

Weight Watchers?
My counsellor said weight watchers might be good for me to join as the accountability might work for me. The problem is I'm not sure if I agree with the whole philosophy of Weight Watchers - specifically the "low fat" meals they sell - can you do Weight Watchers without eating the meals? And if so is there any point?

Tae Bo?
I've just ordered a Tae Bo DVD and wondered if anyone else has done it before - I've been after it for ages. The reviews say there's not much jumping around so I'm hoping it'll be okay to do in my 1st floor flat?

Suunto watch opinions?
Does anyone have a Suunto Core watch or a Suunto Ambit? I'm dithering between the two for my OH for Xmas - the Core is one he pointed out in a TV show and said he liked, but the Ambit has GPS etc which I think he will find useful as he does a lot of cycling and walking.

My workout program doesn't seem to be working....
I've been following "The Fat Burn Revolution" but with little joy in terms of weight loss or even inch loss. Does anybody have any recommendations? I want to start C25K at the weekend and I'd like some strength training that will help me strip away fat. My options are: -Ask the gym to help me make a plan (I'm a member and…

When does binge eating become an eating disorder?
I have binged sporadically since my recovery from bulimia. Recently it's seemed to be most days. I got it under control for a little while but I seem to be back there again - as soon as anything stressful or upsetting happens. When does it start being viewed as an eating disorder/something I should worry about rather than…

Best underwear for gym? (ladies)
What's the best underwear to wear for the gym and for other exercise e.g. cycling?
-
Ankle Weights?
Okay so... the only reason I want ankle weights is because I saw a picture of Taylor Swift wearing some and I love her! But are they worthwhile? Would they strengthen my weak ankles or damage them?
-
Sore Ankles
When I exercise, especially something where I'm upright like walking, my ankles are in absolute agony. Is this because 217lb is a lot for my poor ankles to cart around? Is there a way I can strengthen them?

UK release date for Fitbit Charge etc?
Does anyone know? I want one!! Haha

Running Shoes for C25K
Is it a bit excessive to buy running shoes just to do C25K or can I start out in my walking shoes then buy running shoes if I enjoy it?

Eating at MFP's recommendation and not losing....
Should I go lower? MFP recommend I eat 2000 a day before exercise, which always seemed kind of high. I eat between 1500 and 2000 a day with a bit extra at weekends. I weight lift 3-4x a week, go to 2 gym classes a week and go cycling and walking at the weekend. I'm going to start C25K in 2 weeks when I get back from my…

Signing up for a 5k - great motivator or too much pressure?
So... I'm thinking about signing up for a 5k in July 2015. I'm going to start Couch25k in November (on holiday in a couple of weeks so thought I'd wait til I got back) and I've been going to the gym 4x a week, going to gym classes once/twice a week and cycling and walking at the weekend. Thing is - running has always been…

Which Scale is More Accurate
And I know you will say it doesn't matter ;) But there are 2 scales at my gym - one of those big ones where you put £1 and stand on it, then you grip the handles and it measures your height, body fat etc. They also have a set of digital bathroom scales. When they weigh me on the digital bathroom scales my weight is 3lbs…

Watch recommendation please
I would like a watch that has an activity tracker, HRM and can track workouts - and that looks nice for a man to wear!! (not for me obvs!) Does anyone have any recommendations?

C25K: starting on treadmill then going outdoors?
I'm too embarrassed to run outdoors and I'm already a gym member - I was thinking I'd start off on the treadmill then when I'm a bit more fit/look less silly I could transition to outdoors - is that feasible?
-
Strength Training 4x a week - too much?
I'm strength training 4x a week, occasionally 3x a week, for about half an hour during my lunch break. I only lift 6kg weights and do bodyweight exercises e.g. push-ups and squats. I've seen a lot of info saying to rest for 48 hours between strength training - I tend to do mine Tuesday - Friday though, then cardio at the…

Did counselling for low self-esteem help you lose weight?
After I've posted a few threads and been recommended to seek counselling, and I can feel a lot of emotional issues arising surrounding food, I have made an appointment to start counselling next week. Briefly - don't want to bore you :) - I have self-esteem problems, I left an abusive relationship earlier in the year where…

Big changes and little results??
When I think of all the changes I've made to my diet - at the beginning of the year I was in an abusive relationship and easily ate 3000, maybe even 4000 (I never counted) calories a day - now I'm averaging 2000 a day - so why have I only lost 9lb in about 10 weeks??
-
If you weight lift when your body fat % is high....
Will you just get bigger?? I've just been reading this article and that seems to be what he says? http://www.muscleforlife.com/the-ultimate-fitness-plan-for-women/ I may have misunderstood?

Exercise when Ill
Going to the gym at lunch time today and I woke up this morning feeling really run down with a cold, sore throat etc. I don't want to skip my workout but what should I do? I normally do interval training/HIIT then strength training then more intervals - am I okay to stick with that or should I do something different?
-
Am I sedentary or lightly active?
In my job I can have some days when I'm sat at a desk and some where I am walking around all day lifting and moving things. I do anywhere between 5000-8000 steps a day. I also exercise at least 4-5x a week, often more. At weekends I do have quite a few lazy hours but I also go out cycling or walking/hiking at least…

Padded Cycling Shorts - what size should I go for??
I'm looking at some padded cycling shorts that have great reviews on Amazon. I normally buy my gym bottoms in a size 18 (uk) and they are a bit loose but it means I can pull them right up to prevent any muffin top! Anyway, the sizes for this are 16-18 or 18-20 - should I go for the smaller ones or the bigger ones?…

It's true the number on the scales isn't everything...
I measured my waist today and I had lost an inch, so I was really excited. I had a quick look back at my other measurements - in 2011 I weighed 7lb less than I do right now, but my waist was 3 and a half inches bigger. Even when I weighed 16lb more when I first started, my waist was at least an inch smaller than it was…

Honest Opinions Please
I've just added a photo to my profile for a reality check (sorry I can't figure out how to add it here). The photo is my starting weight- I've since lost 9lbs Now I KNOW I'm overweight of course - but do I look obese? I'm not talking about the BMI numbers etc but just how I look.

How do you cope with the self-loathing?
Just... how? I can't beat it and it becomes a vicious cycle of self-destruction when I achieve anything, then loathing myself for that.

Motivation Ideas? Please?
I feel like I keep whining on here :ohwell: but I desperately need a kick up the backside! I have long term goals of course, but my current short-term goal is to lose 10lbs by the start of November, when I'm going on holiday. Well the start of November is getting closer and closer, and I haven't weighed myself today but I…

Fed up of doing this
I know some of you have been doing this way longer than me. I'm sticking with it, I'm not giving up, but god I just want to eat and eat and eat! I feel like food is all I ever think about. And it's so slow, I feel like I've made loads of changes but I've only lost 8lbs in 2 months and don't seem to have lost any inches,…

Who motivates/inspires you?
One of the reasons weight loss is a constant battle for me is because of a lack of family support - in fact constant family criticism! I'm really glad I found this place, it's been so helpful - I joined a few years ago but this is the first time I've really made an effort to log - and the first time I've used the community…
