When does binge eating become an eating disorder?

I have binged sporadically since my recovery from bulimia. Recently it's seemed to be most days. I got it under control for a little while but I seem to be back there again - as soon as anything stressful or upsetting happens.
When does it start being viewed as an eating disorder/something I should worry about rather than a coping mechanism?

i think the fact that it's used as a coping mechanism and what you default to under emotional stress should be enough to classify it as disordered eating.. you shouldn't feel bad though, recovering from an ED of any kind is tough enough without some setbacks. all that matters is if you are trying to regain control. maybe see about talking to a professional soon if you can't get a handle on it yourself/with the help of friends
but also everyone has mini binges every now and then when you're having a crap day and that's pretty normal. it's just when it happens ALL the time0
