I would like a watch that has an activity tracker, HRM and can track workouts - and that looks nice for a man to wear!! (not for me obvs!)

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I'm not aware of any that work well as both an activity tracker and an HRM. The Garmin vivofit is probably the closest thing when used with the optional chest strap, but I wouldn't really call it a watch.

IMO, decide if you want a watch/HRM or an activity tracker - they are 2 very different things - and buy the one you like best. If you want both, then buy both.

I have a Garmin Forerunner 110 with the soft strap HRM and got a good deal on it last year for $150 for both with some coupons from Staples. Here it is on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-Forerunner-GPS-Enabled-Sport-Monitor/dp/B003JTLKIA

Not sure what you mean by activity tracker, but it can do indoor (without GPS, basically takes HR and does a calorie count based on the weight you entered + heartrate, and measures time) or outdoor (with all that, plus GPS, speed, and map).

You upload the data to Garmin Connect and it displays a map, heart rate over time, max speed, etc. It works really well and I like it a lot! The only thing to remember is that it slows down and sometimes has a hard time finding satellites if you don't clear it out after logging a lot of workouts. Also, you have to stand still and hold your arm away from you in an area with a clear view of the sky for about 15-30 seconds to get a satellite fix. After that, you're golden!

They have newer (ie more expensive) versions out that have more bells and whistles.

Depending on what you plan on mainly using it for, you may not need all the extras (like the waterproof one for triathalons, or for the display to show your current pace instead of just speed). I got a $10 rubber mount for my bike and it works fantastically as a bike speedometer/mileometer and I always love looking at the map afterwards.

    Hope that helps. Good luck!

I've been looking at the Garmin Forerunners, and I think the 220 is the exact look that I want - activity tracker I guess I want a step counter in there as well!

I think this is what I will end up going for http://www.amazon.co.uk/Garmin-Forerunner-Running-Activity-Tracker/dp/B00K2T5JEG/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1413906136&sr=8-7&keywords=watch+with+activity+tracker as I think the activity tracker is important (it's for a gift!) but I much prefer the circular ones...
