any vegetarians out there?
I am startning a weight lifting program, and really starting to look more at macros rather than calorie intake. Curious to see how other veggies get their protein. I should be more specific, in that I am a pescetarian/ lacto-ovo, so I still eat fish and consume egg and dairy products. Noticing too that legumes are pretty…

Ashley Conrad Clutch Cut
Hey everyone, I am back to it after a 2 month gym "break", certainly not by choice, but my work moved me far far away for the summer. Anyways, I am back and want to get serious about lifting. I started lifting last summer with a personal trainer and had good results. I tried really hard, to keep with it after the trainer,…

whey powder making me GAIN weight?
So a little background: I am not a breakfast eater in the least but knew I needed to fuel my body for the day so I wouldn't binge eat by lunch. I also don't really like meat which makes getting protein in a challenge. My trainer over the summer suggested protien shakes for breakfast, quick, easy, filling and meatless.…

camp counselor problems
Any camp counselors out there? I will be working my first camp this year and I am concerned that camp food will be….lacking anything nutritious. I can have non perishable snacks in my room, and I plan on stocking up on supplements (iron, b12, pro-biotics) to try and help with the lack of nutrient rich foods I normally eat.…

Torn rotator cuff
Wondering if anyone out there has/is suffering from a torn rotator cuff? I have been having shoulder pain and went to the docs who thinks its a torn rotator cuff, but before declaring surgery he wants me to try a few at home exercises to see if it will repair itself, or if its even a full blown tear. With that said, I have…

Running + Lifting
Hello pals! I am sure this has been asking before, but can't seem to find much. I have a new found appreciation for running. I am by no means a long distant runner, but I do enjoy a 30-45 min run 3x a week. I also really like lifting weights. I currently do 3 sets of 12 reps of various exercises 2-3x per week. I was…

lower belly pooch / 50lbs lost

healthy fats
Hey friends I need help coming up with healthy fats to eat as snacks or with my lunches. Normally I have my steamfresh bag of veggies and some protein like eggs or fish, but I am getting really bloated due to the large amounts of veggies. I have read probiotics or healthy fats help break down the veggies but I am not sure…

fearing food
Today I realized something while at work. My team and I were driving around town running errands when we pasted a Checkers. I had never been to one and asked what it was. Apparently its a fast food burger chain that has yummy fries and shakes. In my head I thought, oh that sounds good, maybe on my next cheat day I can try…

awkward/funny compliments
So in the losing weight journey, I am sure I am not the only one who has gotten a compliment that was a little awkward haha here is mine. This happened last week while I was visiting my parents. I threw a pair of shorts in the wash with some of my moms clothes. When she went to get them from the dryer she came in and says…

It's my one year anniversary....
I have been on MFP for more than a year, but it's been an official year since I took my life back into my own hands and my own control. I remember this time last year as if it were yesterday. I had just closed 2 shows at the theater, and my mom called me to tell me congrats on the shows, and see what I was doing for the…

I am become a beast....a sexy beast!
So I broke down and got a personal trainer to help me learn how to lift weights. I was never been afraid of "bulking up" as a girl, I was afraid of poor form and an injury. Anywho, I digress....I have only had 2 sessions and I feel AMAZING!!!!! My trainer said I have a natural knack for lifting and already picking up…

silver linings
Sometimes we get stuck in a rut and sometimes we just need to first get the bad mood off our chest, then find that silver lining as reminder of how awesome we are, or how the day really isn't as bad as we think. I will start: Woke up feeling huge today and zero motivation to do anything, I remembered yesterday I was told I…

ADD/ADHD, chornic stress/anxiety?
Sorry, I didn't really know where to post this. Anyways, I was looking for some pals that have ADD/ADHD that I could get a little more info from. I am in my early 20's and never been diagnosed but just knowing the basics I am wondering if I suffer from this or high levels of chronic stress/anxiety to the point my body is…

9 months and 30lbs
I started MFP a while ago, and was a yo-yo, like many, losing weight, gaining weight, etc. Finally last July something clicked. I read a book about how low calorie diets can stunt your metabolism, and although I had my reservations about eating more calories to lose weight I figured I had nothing to lose. I was a size…

What do you do with your whey protien? I am using it as a meal replacement because i am generally a busy person, but I am getting tired of the same thing everyday : 1c yogurt, 2scoop whey, banana or strawberries, blend it and there you have a smoothie. Any other suggestions? I currently have chocolate because i grabbed the…

how much do you eat?
The great caloric debat! Its so confusing because everything contradicts eveything. I know you shouldn't go below 1200 calories, but I am starting the Insanity program, and accroding to their equation, I should be eating around 2300 calories.... that is so much food! That is 1000 more than what I normally shoot for. And…
