Importance of Food Journaling
I found this summer that keeping a record on MFP really was the reason I had lost all my weight. Between February and May, I had gone from 140 to 125 and was working out daily. I was a bit more Yo-Yo on my calories, but maintained a normal 1200-1500 a day with some extra on the weekends. Over the summer I fell into some…

Stress Eating and combating it
Stress. I hate stress. Everyone hates stress. Unfortunately, stress makes me eat. I did really well early on in the summer and dropped to my goal weight of 125, had my fit body, and was excited. I ended up losing my job right after I moved into my first apartment, so money was tight and quit my gym membership. Health…

In need of some relationship / boy advice, badly.
This seems to be a reoccurring issue with me, and I really need some input. I've had my heart broken about a year ago, and the entire experience left me jaded and cynical. I enjoyed my time being single, flirting, having small flings, but otherwise never settling into anything. Enter boy. We have mutual friends. I'll be…

For the Girls : Abnormal Pap Smears, Anxiety, and Exercise
So I got a call from my doctor last week that my pap smear showed abnormal growths and I should go see a specialist. I was told it was probably nothing. Family and friends have said not to worry. I went to a real gynecologist yesterday who explained my test results to me. They're high grade, not low grade. The chances of…

Women asking out men, weird, or a new generational thing?
This constantly boggles my mind. I was reading over another person's post about how she does not get approached by men. I get approached by men, but in the creepy, 30 years older than me way that makes me feel awkward and uncomfortable. I don't think I've ever been asked on a date. Almost 99% of my relationships have begun…

The Dangers of Drinking - Taco Bell
I will admit it. I can be a lush sometimes. At least I'm a light weight lush. 10pm till 1am. Jack and Diet Coke. Half of an awful Tom Collins. A Seven and Seven. A Soco and Sprite. Some random shot the bartender made me. But this was not the worst part. As we all piled into a van, our designated driver had the best and yet…

Protein Packed Lunch - Tuna, Avacado, Bean Salad
Something I whipped together that I thought I would share. It has been a staple in my lunch for the past two weeks. It keeps me full for HOURS! 1 Can Solid White Albacore 1/4 Avocado, Diced 2 Tbps Beans of your choosing (I've used both Black Beans and Chickpeas) 2 Tbps Diced Onion 1 or 2 Cups Lettuce 1 Tbps Olive Oil…

SELF Challenge tip of the day - Reason to Drink!
Women who enjoyed 15 to 45 alcoholic beverages per month were about 33 percent more likely to exercise vigorously than teetotalers. Scientists say sippers may hit the gym harder to compensate. This is good news for a 22 year old like me, who drinking is part of the general socialization. Woo.

My lack of weight gain is sabotaging me.
So this week I injured my arm and have not been to the gym in a week. I've still been biking around my usual 3 to 4 miles, did a light hike somewhere in there, and my normal every day stuff. I've also been eating more than normal. Out to eat for pizza. Drinking. Got taken for all you can eat sushi. Went to sonic and then…

Merrell Pace Glove, anybody wear them?
I'm looking for a light weight, all purpose shoe for walking, hiking, biking, and working in. I've heard good things about the Merrell Pace Glove for all of these purposes, but I'm still having a hard time wondering if the 100 dollars is worth it. Also, my knowledge of barefoot shoes is that they lack any support outside…

Messed up my shoulder, how to continue my strength training
Playing Ultimate Frisbee with the boys last night, I got body slammed by someone twice my size into the ground. My shoulder now has about a 15% movement range and I'm still contemplating going to the doctor, but I think I may have just pulled something. I really don't want to miss too many days of exercise, but running…

It's too hot to cook, help me make something with these ingr
So I've got about 400 calories left for the day for dinner. Keep in mind we're vegetarian. I'm looking for something low key to make. Here are the fresh veggies and some basics that I have. I have obviously all the ingredients a typical house cook should have around the house as well. Anybody have any suggestions?…

11pm at night, 700 calories left. should I eat?
So i had a crap day and wasn't hungry. I just got off work and after logging what I've eaten today, realized I still have 700 calories, not counting any exercise I did loading and unloading equipment and working. The issue is it's 11pm. I'm frickin hungry now, but I'll probably sleep in an hour. Should I just let it be, or…

Thanks to friends...
I drink too much alcohol. Weigh 10 pounds more than I would normally. Blow more of my money on socializing and food than anything else. Sleep less and practically become an insomniac. Avoid going to jail. Maybe I should become a recluse. But then I wouldn't be as happy! Anybody else feel the same way?

Can anyone help explain this loss?
So two days ago I posted about being worried about weight gain from taking a week vacation in Florida. Mass amounts of food and no exercise. Despite my desire not to weigh myself, I got on the scale today at the gym for the first time since I left. I somehow had lost a pound in my gluttonous week. Is this a fluke? Has the…

Need help getting back on track
I just spent a week on Florida's gulf coast in Panama City. It was a Christian Retreat Resort with my university that included three meals a day of southern cooking. Lets just say I fell off the deep end. I stopped counting calories for the week and let myself, well, indulge. We had pie and ice cream for dinner every…

Bored with my exercise routine
Currently I've been hitting the gym every day, doing the same. I memorized the 30 Day Shred Level 1 weight moves and go through the circuit at the gym to begin with. Then afterward I spend up to 30 minutes on the Elliptical on resistance 6 which burns 300 calories. If I still have energy, I'll attempt a mile on the…

NSV - Man I needed that
So I'd grown frustrated with dieting and exercising. I began exercising almost daily, mixing up cardio and 30 Day Shred. I worried less about my calorie intake and more about what kinds of food I had been eating, plus drinking more water. It worked for the first 5 pounds, but then I platued at 131 and have been stuck here…

30 day shred and insatiable hunger!
Why am I so hungry. Aauugghh! I recently started the 30 day shred at 7.5 pounds mixed with my own cardio, between 15 to 30 minutes on the eliptical and/or treadmill. Any other exercise I do throughout the day I don't normally log. I also don't log my strength workouts. I still like to try and hit 1200 calories but it seems…

Weight Loss - Not just a quick fix
I've had way too much coffee but felt the need to share my two cents on being healthy. Weight loss isn't going to happen over night, and that's one thing I've learned. I don't believe in diets, and don't like using mind sets such as "I want to lose this weight by this time for this event." Normally what ends up happening…

Fallen off for almost a week
Egads, don't even look at my food diary for this week. I don't know what happened but I hit almost 2000 calories every single day. Good thing I had a few exercise days in there as well. Two days of big family dinners that involved going for sushi, and a girls night in which we shared a box of pasta. I cannot make this a…

Garden Vegetable Soup Recipe
I don't know about you, but it's been rainy here over in PA, which is a perfect time to enjoy some soup. I love this recipe because I can enjoy bowl after bowl, guilt free. You can honestly put in whatever vegetables you have lying around. You can replace the No-Chicken broth back out with regular or vegetable. I also like…

Unsupportive and Mocking Girlfriends
I don't know how else to vent my frustrations towards the people who are supposed to be behind me about things. At 22, I'm 5'5 and 130. Nowhere near over weight or unattractive. Still, I care about my body and am a little soft around the edges. I want to have a healthy relationship with food so I can continue being healthy…

Summer activities, do you count them?
As the weather becomes warmer, we all become more active. I switch from using my car to biking, which can be anywhere from a mile to 10 miles a day. We play Ultimate Frisbee a day or two a week. Hiking becomes a weekly activity. During this time I normally stop going to the gym and will attempt to get a 2 mile run in…

Exercise = End of Flat Stomach!?
So as it goes, last summer I weighed my least during a short depressive state in which I stopped eating and exercising. On the other hand, I had the flattest stomach. No extra skin, pudge, and a bit of rib cage. I could wear anything I wanted. Enter winter break. Gained 20 pounds. Drinking. Stomach pudge and muffin top.…
