KT tape for my ITB
I was looking for some info from anyone with experience using KT tape for an IT Band injury. I'm getting completely fed up with being in so much pain running that I can't. I'm doing the exercises the PT gave me, stretching and working to build strength, but my running went from around 30 miles a week to 5 and it's making…

Running Hills - Form
Hi everyone - My 15 year old daughter runs cross country in high school and recently they got a new distance coach. The other day they were running hills and he stopped her to tell her she was doing it wrong. He told her to lean at the waist and put her head down and quicken her pace. She said no Coach if I lean at my…

Chiptime vs Guntime - can you explain?
Obviously I understand the difference in the two, but here's my question. Today we ran in a race that was chipped timed at start and finish. But the finishing results were based on gun time. So if someone asks my time I tell them my chip time, but I notice on the finish it makes a difference in my finish. People who had a…

Sore ankles
This question is about my about to turn 15 year old daughter. She has run track and cross country for the past few years. She just returned to running distance about 2 weeks ago after soccer season ended. This past weekend we ran an 8K and she did very well at 37:31 so she has a good little pace going for herself. The…

First HM in 2 weeks
Wow when I signed up for this race it was like a million years away and now it's in two weeks. A short background. In November and December I was running a comfortable 11 miles as my long run and about 140 miles a month. Got hurt mid December, started PT in Feb and was just able to start running again the first weekend in…

Carb Loading for Half
Okay experts talk to me about carb loading for a half. It's my first and it's this Sunday the 12th. Important? Doesn't matter? How much? My longest race to date is a 10K I didn't really do anything except eat more of my normal 1400 calories in carbs instead of proteins the day before and the morning of had my go to plain…

Good watch for a new runner
I'm sure this has been asked 1,000 times, but my cousin is starting to run (he's a big cycler) and was asking me about a watch. I tend to just worry about my time so I have a cheaper watch. He wants to track, time, distance, heart rate and pace. Something in the medium price range. Any help is appreciated.

Women's running hats for the cold
Can someone recommend a good warm hat for running for the winter. I would like something that has a pony tail hole in the back too. I see a million hats online and just not sure what is the best way to go. Also if you have gloves you love. I have a nike pair which I like a lot but I think as it gets colder I might need…

Running Rain Gear
I have looked a few times in the area sporting goods stores for something to wear to run while it's raining. I have seen a few jackets and when I feel them I'm not sure they will actually keep the water out at all. I don't want anything too heavy, I live in the South (US), I don't want to be sweating in it. Any suggestions?

Cross country training
My 14 year old daughter has been running cross country and track (1600 and 800) for the past 2 seasons. During XC season they usually run 3 days a week between 2 - 6 miles, have a core work out day with light running and meets on Saturdays. Last night the new coach handed out summer training and I was surprised to see that…

6 machines to avoid using at the gym
Just read this on yahoo. I thought it was interesting. By Frank Kobola And what you should do instead. To beginners, a gym can look like an overwhelming sea of torture devices. It's easy to lose focus on your workout because of a lack of understanding, or a poor choice of equipment. As a general rule, free weight or free…
