MFP default Macro settings
I'm still getting the hang of this site and have questions. I see that the carb setting on my macros is much higher than protein or fats. Can someone tell me if this is determined by the stats I entered or if this is the regular default setting for MFP. Although I don't go over my calorie goals, I do not meet the macros…

Will I lose any data once I hit 365 days of logging (foods and reports)?
Late next month I'll hit 365 days on MFP. I'm curious if there will be data I can no longer see that I should download now for historical purposes. I would like to be able to refer back to my food diary over the next year, if possible, and see my weight loss and other reports. Will these still be visible to me or does MFP…

January 8th Goals
First time I've created a goal post! Hah hah. Today I'm going to see what its like to not eat between meals. Hopefully. Just something I want to try.

Manually adjustment to driving -- workaround
So I've been bugging the folks at Fitbit for a month or maybe six weeks now because the manually adjustment for driving stopped working correctly. It took a couple calls before they acknowledged that it is a known issue and the engineers are working on it. I drive school bus and each route adds about 3,000 "steps" which…

Down a size in jeans without weight loss & are jeans bigger nowadays
Posted this to my friends list but think I'll open it for discussion here too. So, it finally happened to me. I've read about people who lost inches but not weight. I haven't lost in 2 weeks (boo hoo) but yesterday I went to my favorite resale shop because several pairs of my size 14 jeans are getting a bit loose in the…

Fitbit manual adjustments went away
I have talked to FitBit customer support twice and am in an ongoing email conversation with them, so this is basically a heads up for everyone. Twice a day I manually adjust my activities because I drive school bus and am "given" about 2500 extra steps for each trip. The process was working until a couple weeks ago. Now…

Posting test
Because I still she the "want to join" button when I come to the group I wasn't sure I could post. I can! I'm creating this thread for others to test. Ready for this challenge. Want to finish 2014 with another nice loss. Kathy

error message when trying to join New Years challenge group
I accepted Silver Stormi's invite to join the new group by now when I go to the group I am asked again if I want to join. When I click on yes, I get an error message. I have reported the problem but wanted to give everyone a head's up. And even though I accepted right away, I cannot "do" anything in the group. Hopefully…

Lack of shoulder flexibility
So, I finally met with a trainer so I could start lifting. He covered a lot of options for me as far as how to work areas of my body. I just want to retain what strength I have and improve. I've always felt "strong" in that I could pick up my end of the couch when moving furniture and carry it to the truck, lift heavy…

Mirrors -- keep getting surprised
It happened again yesterday. I stepped in front of a mirror in a restroom to wash my hands and it looked like I was in a funhouse in front of a "slimming" mirror. I've had this happen a number of times recently. I took a good look at my face and neck and they did not look distorted. So... I'm thinking that I'm just not…

Driving adjustment (just a FYI)
I drive school bus. Bought my Fitbit after the season ended last spring so had not experienced the jostling the bus does to my Fitbit and the incorrect steps. I started driving again and now am manually logging the time that I drive into Fitbit so my steps aren't exaggerated. I don't know if anyone else has trouble finding…

Does fitbit work like pedometer on bumpy roads?
I drive a school bus. A pedometer and even the sHealth feature on my Galaxy Note phone 'counts' steps while I'm driving the bus. Really messes up my day. Once it added 12,000 steps due to a long bumpy drive. I am considering getting a FitBit flex and wonder how it will behave in this situation. Thx!

Gorgonzola & sundried tomatoes (salad)
My go-to salad right now is: Lettuce - Red leaf, raw, 10 leaf outer 27kcal Hellmann's - Balsamic Vinaigrette Salad Dressing , 1 tblsp 35 kcal Gorgonzola Blue Cheese Crumbled, 0.5 oz (28g) or 2 tbps 55kcal (depends on what else I'm eating if I use a full oz) Texas Toast - Croutons - Seasoned Flavor, 3 tbsp (7grams) 58kcal…

I accidentally made nori
Tastes like it anyway. Bought a giant bag of baby kale leaves at Costco and tossed them with a bit of olive oil, sea salt and paprika then dehydrated them. They are teeny weeny and see-through now and taste like nori. That giant bagful will fit in a sandwich sized baggie at this point. Don't think making kale chips is…

I weigh less than my drivers license says!
LOL. I always lie when filling out the weight on my drivers license. So, today I got to thinking about it and figured I probably had said "210" which was my standard lie for the past 20 years and since I weight 204 today I would for the first time in years weigh less than my drivers license.. Must have decided no cop was…

Best way to change pound-loss-per-week-goal
I've seen this posted quite often: Pounds per week 75+ lbs to lose 2 lb range Between 40 - 75 lbs to lose 1.5 lb range Between 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lb range Between 15-25 lbs to lose 1 -.50 lb range Less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lbs range So, because I am a bus driver and do not exercise too much, especially in the winter, I…

My new ooh-la-la food scale
I bought a new food scale Monday. Until now I've been using the scale I bought to weigh my parrots (I keep Eclectus parrots) by removing the perch and using just the scale base. It worked okay except I was not confident it was weighing the real low gram weights accurately, such as croutons and sun dried tomatoes, for…

Anyone use plain gelatin in desserts?
I'm fooling around with a concoction that is sort of like a mousse I guess but tastes more like a strawberry shake. What I've done so far is sprinkle a pkg of Knox Gelatin (25 cal) on a 1/4 cup of cold water in a blender. Then bring 3/4 cup water to boil and pour it on the softened gelatin and blend a couple seconds. To…

Question about protein powder and almond milk
I've not tried either one. Almond milk is rather expensive but I've noticed that lots of people use it instead of milk. I'd like to know what it tastes like and some reasons for using it instead of milk, please. Regarding protein powder, what/where should I buy if I want to use it to get in a bit more protein each day and…

Who honestly weighed/logged/ate deficit yet did not lose?
As good as the weight loss is going for me at my age, when I honestly thought because I was older weight loss would be slow, I would like to know who has been diligent about following the MFP method yet did not have success. It seems so unlikely to me. Like someone said in another thread, it may not be easy but is sure is…

What is the "cardio trap"?
I read a post the other day that I now cannot find. Regardless, the gist of the particular post that struck me was that it took them a long time to figure out how the weight loss thing works and they weren't really on their way until they got out of the cardio trap, or something to that effect. So, I've been thinking about…

Where is the chart that shows complete nutrient breakdown?
I saw it once -- maybe on my cell phone, but I cannot find it now. I'd like to see my daily chart of vitamins/minerals/fiber, etc. TYIA for providing the link.

Curious why many don't show loss tickers
I've been reading the forums for about 2 months. I see lots of posts by people who don't have a weight loss ticker. What would be a reason not to show your success?
