MFP default Macro settings

I'm still getting the hang of this site and have questions. I see that the carb setting on my macros is much higher than protein or fats. Can someone tell me if this is determined by the stats I entered or if this is the regular default setting for MFP. Although I don't go over my calorie goals, I do not meet the macros sometimes -- usually that would be more protein and fat and less carbs. Thanks.

You can simply use the custom settings and adjust your carb level to what you'd like.0

Thank you, I do know that is possible. But I'm interested to know why the default settings are as they are.0 -

That is a question many of us have wondered for awhile. I wish the default was a 40-30-30 ratio.0 -

The ratios "fall within the ranges established by the IOM and align with the macronutrient proportion recommendations in the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2010: 45-65% of calories from carbohydrates, 10-35% of calories from protein, and 20-35% of calories from fat."0 -

Aha! Thank you so much for that link.0 -
From page linked above:Additionally, members will now be notified when their daily carbohydrate intake falls below 130g or is comprised of less than 35% of calories from carbohydrate. The rationale for this is based on carbohydrate's role as the primary energy source for the brain and aligns with recommendations put forth by the IOM and Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
What!? Notification of not reaching the least important macronutrient goal? Has anyone received this? Has to be a lapsus!0 -

I have never seen that notification. I assumed it was one of those Diary Food Insights notifications. I turned them off a few days after they showed up on my mobile app, so I am not sure about that.

And I have never really used the mobile version, so I've never seen those notifications. Makes sense if those two features are connected - and that you turned them off0 -

The protein is set at 20% of calories, used to be 15. After that I'm lost ;-)
