Looking for LCHF/Keto friends
Hi everyone, I have been a member of MFP since 2011 and I have recently been following a LCHF diet a.k.a. Keto with some great success. I am looking for friends who also follow this way of eating who can help me stay accountable and understand why I eat the way I do. If you also follow this lifestyle please feel free to…

Halfway! Down 71.8 pounds!
I am halfway to my goal. I started out at 319 pounds, probably more than that before I weighed myself. I wore a size 28W/26W. I am now at 247 and wearing a size 16W. Not only have I lost 71.8 but I have also lost 22.75 inches from my body. I feel so much better. I can do more things now than I used to be able to do. All…

Is this just water weight or something else?
I started on MFP at 315 lbs in 2011. I lost 43 lbs. I then left and yo-yoed between 298 to about 288. I decided to come back and do this for real. I started logging 11 days ago at 288 lbs. Today I weigh 276 lbs. I am eating my calories and exercising (feel free to look at my diary, warning it isn't all pretty...). I know…

Question...what would you do?
So my next door neighbor has three dogs. They are fairly large dogs one of them is a pit-bull mix and the other two are blue heeler mutts. I have a miniature schnauzer. I walk my dog on a leash everyday. I cross the street when I leave my house, make a big circle around the neighborhood and come back. Yesterday, she was…

MS Diet (Need recipes for my mom)
Two years ago, my mother, who is a cancer survivor, was diagnosed with MS. As a result of this disease, she has lost all sight in her right eye and much of the sight in her left eye. Her health continues to deteriorate and she is now suffering from cluster headaches (think migraines times ten). Then we found a great book…

I need some "tough love"...
and more support! I am not new to myfitnesspal, persay, but I have been gone for a few months and came back this January. As a result, I lost a lot of friends and I have deleted several as well who have been inactive for months. I am looking for some more friends to help me stay on track. I don't ever want to give up on…

Am I lightly active now?
When I first started on MFP I was an unemployed, full-time student. I have had my activity level set to sedentary this whole time. Now, I have gotten a job teaching middle school English. I am wondering if I need to switch my status to lightly active. I work 7 hours a day, five days a week and spend about 6 of them on my…

When to eat?
My brother was telling me the other day that when we sleep is when we burn up all the carbs left in our system from the day before and that it is important to go exercise first thing in the morning without eating anything first. This way he assures me I will only be burning fat and that it will really get my metabolism…

Is this binge eating or something else?
I had a really bad day yesterday. TOM showed up for the first time in like 6 months (sorry guys, I know yuck! lol)I ended up going on a psycho binge fest. I ate half a bag of chips, two honey buns, two cherry danishes, 8 breakfast tacos and three packets of oatmeal. This hasn't happened to me in awhile (like three months…

Question about activity level settings
I have my level set to sedentary because I do not have a job right now and the examples are based on work. I guess not having a job is comparable to having a desk job. However, I do workout an hour and a half everyday, in the pool, swimming my butt off. I run errands for my disabled mother and do a bit of gardening. In…

NSV Roll Call!
Hey MFPeeps! This is a friendly reminder that the scale should never be the defining factor in your success. In keeping with this frame of mind I would love to hear some of your Non Scale Victories (NSV) from the past couple of weeks. It can be anything you want to share. What's something you couldn't do before that you…

Smoke Free on MFP: No More Butts Group
So I was thinking of starting a support group on the forum for those of us who are trying to quit smoking, so we can have somewhere to vent when it gets difficult, so we can give each other tips and talk about how freakin hard it is to quit. On top of that I know it is difficult to quit and not gain weight so those of us…

Problems with my HRM and swimming. Help!
Okay, so I just bought a Polar FT7 and I tried it out today for the first time in the pool. It didn't do so hot. It kept beeping and telling me to check heart rate transmitter. This happened every time I started to swim a lap. I think the issue is that I am going from a vertical postion to a horizontal one and it is not…

HRM for swimmers?
I am looking for a HRM that I can use while swimming. I haven't been able to find one and I have been looking fairly hard with no luck. Are there any swimmers out there that can help me out? I am not really concerned with price. I just want something that works well and can be used in the water.

Cooking and Food Preparation?
Is it just me or does it seem like the calorie burn for cooking and food preparation is a bit skewed? 263 calories burned for an hour of cooking? I'm not sure if that is even close. I mean walking for half and hour is about the same. I don't even log it because it just seems like cooking doesn't get your heart rate up near…

Which one is right?
So I have taken up swimming and I am swimming for an hour doing laps of breaststroke. The exercise log on here says I burned approximately 1100 calories, give or take (I can't remember exactly), in one hour. However, i looked up this same exercise on another site and it asked for my weight. It says I burned 3586.841142…

Does anyone else have this problem?
Since I have started MFP I have noticed a huge drop in my appetite. I eat breakfast and then I am just not hungry at lunch time, so I wait two hoursto eat lunch, but I feel like I am shoving it down my throat and forcing myself to eat. Same with dinner. Is this normal? What's going on? Am I doing this right?

Hello and Nice to Meet You
I am new to myfitnesspal, but I am not new to the weight loss struggle. I love this site and I am so excited about the resources it provides. I also look forward to getting tips and comments on leading a healthy lifestyle. It is so encouraging to know I am not in this alone. I look forward to making some new friends.
