Is this just water weight or something else?

I started on MFP at 315 lbs in 2011. I lost 43 lbs. I then left and yo-yoed between 298 to about 288. I decided to come back and do this for real. I started logging 11 days ago at 288 lbs. Today I weigh 276 lbs. I am eating my calories and exercising (feel free to look at my diary, warning it isn't all pretty...). I know there is this whole "water weight" thing that people talk about and I know it isn't safe to lose weight really quickly. I am wondering if this is just what is happening to me, losing water weight, or if I am not at a sustainable calorie intake. I'm a teacher so I do some moving around at work but I did it when I was 315 pounds too so I have set myself to sedentary. Is this the problem? I really can't figure it out yet. Don't get me wrong, I am thrilled to have lost 12 lbs, but I am concerned that if this trend continues then I am maybe harming my body. I have basically been losing a pound a day...and I lost 2 lbs since yesterday. Suggestions and ideas would be appreciated.

It's almost certainly water weight. What will probably happen is weight loss will drastically slow down, or you might even see a slight gain over the next week or 2. If you are still losing at this speed after a month, then your calories could probably be upped but again, I bet that it won't be an issue and that losses will slow.
