When I first started on MFP I was an unemployed, full-time student. I have had my activity level set to sedentary this whole time. Now, I have gotten a job teaching middle school English. I am wondering if I need to switch my status to lightly active. I work 7 hours a day, five days a week and spend about 6 of them on my feet. I am constantly walking around my classrooms and the school. I do brain gym exercises with most of my classes and I am a very animated lecturer. I can't stay in one place. I also walk to and from school in the morning, at lunch and at the end of the day. I also stay after school on many days and help with things like floats and wall decorations. Is this type of activity considered lightly active? More importantly, should I change my activity level? I appreciate any advice! Thanks

Any teachers out there? What do you set your activity level as and why?

Yes, I think you are lightly active. I'm an adjunct college instructor and last semester I covered an additional 2 classes for about a month. The classes are 3 hour blocks and that first week after 9 hours of lecturing in a day my legs and butt were SORE.

I am also the type to constantly be moving around the classroom. I can't stand still or sit down.

I'm not a teacher but I would say yes, you are lightly active at least if you are constantly walking around.
