Protein Powder question
I have the Pure Protein frosty chocolate whey protein powder and on the jar it says you could add to foods such as oatmeal to increase the protein. Now would you add the powder to the water and oats prior to cooking (I heat mine in the microwave) or add after the oatmeal has cooked? Silly question I know....

New favorite "salad"
I've made this with rice and quinoa. I found the original recipe I believe in the Flat Belly Diet book but I've personalized it more. I like to call it Edamame Salad. 1/4 dry quinoa or brown rice 1/2 c shelled edamame (you can buy them in the frozen veggie section out of the pods already. I buy SeaPoint Farms) 1 c frozen…

What I noticed
So I know that your weight fluctuates throughout the day. This isn't a post about how I freaked out over it, more me laughing over it. Saturday morning is my normal weigh day. I took my weight and was fine with it. That night we had a party and I counted the food we had as my dinner. It was just a bunch of snack type food.…

I think I figured out the exercise calorie question
At least for me I think I have found an answer. I was looking at my profile on here, I have it set to sedentary and 4 days of 45 minutes of exercise. MFP states that my calorie intake is 1570 and then calculates the deficit down to 1200 and states that I would lose .7 lbs/ week. I changed my profile to have zero exercise…

Diced/Cubed Ham
I have a recipe that calls for about 8 oz of diced or cubed ham and now that I actually track the recipe and know the nutritional content I noticed that the ham is CHOCK-FULL of sodium. It's ridiculous. I've used like the 97% fat free, packed in water kind but the sodium is still 20+%....does anyone know of a brand that…

Trying not to beat a dead horse, Exercise calorie question
This is the one thing I still can't wrap my head around fully. MFP says that if I wanted to maintain my weight I would need to consume 1550 calories a day, so to be healthy and lose weight my calorie level is set to 1200 (it states I'll lose .7lbs a week this is fine). I have been reading that you need your NET calorie…

Potassium
This is the one nutrient I can't get anywhere near the 3500mg that is suggested. I know bananas are a good source, but surprisingly a medium banana I think only has 500 mg or so and is pretty high in carbs. Does anyone have suggestions on how to have an adequate intake of potassium from foods that aren't high in carbs or…

Opions about food in database
Recently we were looking to go to Village Inn. I know that they have a Health Start menu so I thought I'd do some investigating on here to see what people were logging as the calories for these items since exact numbers aren't provided by the company. What I found thoroughly confuses me and I don't know if there is a right…

Morning running nutrition
Sometimes going for a run first thing in the morning is all the time I have for exercise in the morning. Would it be better to eat something before I head out or wait to have breakfast (a high protein shake and some oatmeal and fruit) for when I get back? I have heard you're supposed to wait an hour to 90 minutes to…

MFP Carb count VS Net Carbs
When looking into different diets and the carb craze that came about I wondered this: Does the carb number that MFP shows I should intake take into account the fiber? Atkins main point is the "Net Carbs" Which is your total carb intake minus the fiber intake. So if I intake 214 g carbs, that shows me over MFP…
