Okay ladies, need your help please! I'm going for an IUD on Thursday and am soooo nervous!!!! I've been using BC pills for 15 years and it's time for a change, so I've decided to go the IUD route (mirena). I'm scared though! I've never had any children and my doc prescribed meds to dilate my cervix beforehand... ack! Just…

Appalled at the amt of sodium in these tortillas!
So as my sweetie and I sat down to enjoy a healthy and quick dinner last night of grilled chicken, low-fat cheese, plain greek yogurt, black beans, corn and salsa on whole-wheat tortillas, I thought, wow, this is becoming one of our favorite "fast foods" at home when things just get too busy to cook a big meal. And pretty…

Avocados - Do or Don't?
Ok, need some advice, are avocados a staple in your diet? Or do you try to avoid? I know they're higher in calories and fat, but they're low in carbs and high in fiber. Does the good outweigh the bad? And the fats are the healthy ones, right? I'm type 2 diabetic and the low carbs and high fiber is a definite plus for me.…

Sick of the poking!
Morning MFP friends! I just had to vent and say I'm sick of poking myself to check blood sugar! It feels like my skin is starting to firm up in the places where I normally poke and it's making it tougher and forcing me to go deeper (which hurts!). Ugh! I'm learning to deal with the other aspects of diabetes, but this is…

Suggestions for BC that didn't cause weight gain?
Hi everyone! So my Dr. recently switched me from a BC pill I had been on for about 8-9 years due to some recent side affects. Anyway, she started me on a new one a month and a half ago - and I know that it takes roughly 3 months for your body to adjust - but I feel like I'm losing my hair! I will admit I'm a little…

New to MFP - would love some fitness/weight loss buddies!!
Hi! I'm pretty new to this site, just started tracking last Monday. I am a type II diabetic - was diagnosed in 2003. I've pretty much been up and down on the A1c scale, high of 9.8, low of 6.1. Up until recently, I was ashamed and unwilling to accept that I was a diabetic. I think I thought that if I ignored it, it would…
