Hi! I'm pretty new to this site, just started tracking last Monday. I am a type II diabetic - was diagnosed in 2003. I've pretty much been up and down on the A1c scale, high of 9.8, low of 6.1. Up until recently, I was ashamed and unwilling to accept that I was a diabetic. I think I thought that if I ignored it, it would just go away. But instead (surprise, surprise) it got worse. I'm finally coming to terms that this is a life-changer and I have to make a serious lifestyle change or I'm headed down the road of very bad health and bad consequences. I could really use some support from anyone who's willing. I'm doing this with a few friends, which is awesome, but I also would like some support from fellow diabetics - who struggle with the same issues as me. I really want to succeed this time and can't do it without support and hard work.

Would love some new friends to help support and to also get support - I need all I can get to be strong! :)

Thank you so much! I've realized that the more support and "atta boys" I get, the more I want to stay on track!

I look forward to helping you as well!

Hi there! I've been through a very similar struggle. I was diagnosed as a diabetic in 2005 and "ignored" it until about two months ago. I was on various oral medications to try and control the sugar levels, but wasn't doing ANYTHING else. And then two months ago, my doc checked my A1c and it was at 12.2. And with that, she put me on insulin. :-P And apparently, that's what it took to wake up! I joined MFP shortly after starting on the insulin and have lost about 25 pounds. My sugars have been pretty well in check. I'm going on Friday to have my A1c checked again. I'm hoping it's in a more reasonable range! I'd love to be friends with you and we can help one another through this journey! Good luck to you!!
