Does anyone know why....
I notice that if I work out in the morning on an empty stomach it feels so much easier than if I wait until later in the day, even if I wait several hours from eating. When I workout later it feels like more of a struggle and I get tired faster. Does anyone know if there is a reason for this?

New(ish) Again
Hi. I am a 43 year wife, mom and mental health counselor. I have been on and off of my fitness pal for years. At one point, I got down to my goal weight using this amazing tool. However, the past few years I have been in graduate school, working, and also started new medications all of which has resulted in me weighing the…

Any Advice for an "All or Nothing" Person?
My biggest obstacle is that I am an all or nothing person. I either eat anything and do no exercise or I completely obsess over every calorie. Been at this a few weeks this time and I feel myself already thinking I need to work out more and more. I'm spending too much time on fitness goals and not enough on work or school.…

Ate something I should not have!
I have been so good all week. Stayed under calories and exercised. Today when I was out I got something called "cajun mix" and snacked on it while I was at the park with my kids. I ate almost the whole container. It seemed okay- nuts and sesame sticks. Now I see I consumed almost 1000 calories with this alone!! (I am only…

WOMEN! We actually need more calories during "certain times
Hello Ladies, Last night I felt a bit crampy and was overcome with hunger. I decided to see if PMS was a valid excuse for eating and started searching online. It turns out we may need anywhere from 100-350 extra calories per day for the 7 days before our period starts. (Depends on what study you read just how many calories…

Tonight's Emotional Eating Solution
My husband is late coming home and I was VERY tired (for no reason either). My son just soaked the entire bathroom splashing in the tub which means more work for me. I feel angry and stressed and found myself looking around the kitchen for junk. So what i just did was I ate a handful of wasabi peas. They are hot as hell…

Any men do 30DS?
So, my husband is pretty much only working out on the bike at the gym and sometimes lifting. He is bored and totally plateauing and does not seem to want to do anything else at the gym. He said yesterday how I am lucky because I do exercise DVD's so at least I have visual stimulation and it goes faster. I said, "So do my…

Bad mess up...
Uggh yesterday was awful. We went out to eat for breakfast which was not terrible but I had decided I just wanted to enjoy myself and my food. Later in the day I got a starbucks white chocolate mocha and I could have done it light but when they asked if I wanted whipped cream I said yes. I just wanted my Starbucks. Still…

Current Struggle
So this last time of beginning the dieting (clean eating lifestyle change) and exercise started I guess about mid March. I found it easy at first. I was so full of chemicals and sugars and bad fats that the empty, clean feeling was welcome. Now I have not been perfect. A lot of days I have at least one piece of chocolate.…

HRM vs Noom
I usually trust my Polar HRM but I also use Noom on my phone to track my miles when I walk/run. I put in that I am walking since I only run intermittently. What I usually do now is run as long as I can (maybe 2 minutes or so) and then I walk until my heart rate is down to 120-130 and then I run again. Anyway, I noticed…

Just wondering....
Reading all the posts about BMR and calorie deficits got me thinking. The heaviest I have been has been about 167 lbs (for at least 4 or 5 years). I never went over that. When I figured out the BMR to maintain 165 it said I needed about 1700 calories (1666 to be exact). What's weird is that I know I was eating way above…

30 DS question
Are we seriously not supposed to take a rest day with this program? I am not only doing 30DS. I am combining it with other things- either walking/running, stationary bike, or other workout videos. I like the program. It goes quick and really makes me sweat and grunt lol. Afterwards my pony tail is half out and I am just a…

Protein shake without the cholesterol?
I had two protein shakes today, one after each workout. I recently read that this is the best way to ensure that your body does not start eating away at muscle. But now I see my cholesterol is really high for the day. I have high cholesterol and part of my heath journey is to control that. Does anyone know of a protein…

NSV No pics sorry
I am not anywhere near being able to post a success pic, but I have to say, my butt is smaller. I have been doing so many squats and lunges and doing a really challenging kickboxing DVD that has a segment focusing on the backside with weights and kicks. I had a feeling I was getting smaller in that area but part of me was…

Anyone else ever experience this?
This is a sort of embarrassing question but here it goes. I notice on days when I walk/run (I run as much as I can which is not much and walk about 3 miles which is a lot for me) that I have to go to the bathroom a lot. I make sure I pee before I start but inevitably I have to use the bathroom at the park during my…

I have a dream
..of a workout without squats and lunges. Anyone know of any? Not sure how much more my legs and butt can take! It's be nice, one or twice a week, to give them a rest.

How do you know if you are pushig too hard?
During my workout today the HRM was going off (but it always does as discussed previously) and I could feel my heartbeat in my head. My ears sounded like I was holding a seashell to them. Too much? lol. I want to make sure I put in a full hour every day. Everything I read says people who get get results and keep their…

BMI Question
MFP says my BMI is 1351 and that this is the amount of calories I will burn by doing nothing at all. But it only has me eating 1200 calories. I am not looking to eat more. I have a hard time now that I have gotten going to even make my 1200 calories every day. However, I also want to make sure I am eating enough for my…

What do you do when your heart rate is out of zone?
So, thank to all of the great advice I got here on MFP, I got the Polar F4 HRM and I love it. I was using it this morning and doing some very intense (for me anyway) exercising (kickboxing bootcamp DVD). I noticed there were severa times when I was working really hard that the alarm went off and I was above the zone I…

So pissed!
The problem has to be my new scale. I weighed myself last Friday and I was 153 lbs. I had been shocked by that as I have been between 160-165 forever now. Two weeks prior I was about 162 and I had had a bad week the week before where I ate tons of junk and did not work out. So I was so shocked to see 153. I kept rechecking…

Ouch...need advice please
So, yesterday I walked further than I ever have (for recorded exercise time anyway). I also ran for the first time in recorded exercise time as well the day before. I have not been really vigorous with working out for probably about 15 years. I did not play sports since grade school (and even then I was terrible at them…

HRM Chest Strap or No Chest Strap?
After researching I thought for sure I wanted a chest strap monitor. Amazon has decent prices on Timex which I assume is a trusted brand. I thought I found a decent one for about $40, I went through the good reviews and was ready to order but saw there were over 100 1 star reviews (290 5 star ones). When I started reading…

Kinda Weird
I went in and changed my goals a little. I had put in that I was going to work out 3 days a week but I find I usually do 5. So I made my goal 5 days. I thought maybe my calorie allotment would go up from 1200 but it stayed the same and it still only has me losing one pound per week. So, is MFP telling me my extra two…

Heart Rate Monitor which is best
I am looking for a heart rate monitor that counts calories as well. Can anyone tell me if it is better to get one with a chest strap for a more accurate reading? And any recommendations on which ones are best and also not too expensive? (or are the cheaper ones no good?)

Slim in 6 or 30 Day Shred- Opinions?
Does anyone have an opinion on which of these is better or which is easier? I was thinking if Sim in 6 is easier maybe I would do that program for the 6 weeks and then do the 30 day shred or vice versa. If anyone has tried both I'd love to hear about your experiences and results.

Resistance band exercise question
I picked up a cheap resistance band at Five Below when I was getting Easter stuff for the kids. I really don't know what to do with it so I tried looking up exercises online. The ones I found say to step on the band and pull it up with your hand. But the one I got is way to short for that and won't stretch that far. Anyone…

Rough Success Stories?
I see a lot of people post their success stories and their amazing pictures and it is very motivating. All the ones I have read seem to say the same thing, that the person decided to do it and never looked back- they never went over their calorie allotment or skipped their workouts. I am wondering if anyone has a different…

Good Workouts with Low Impact
Hi. I have a pretty bad leg injury right where my thigh meets my hip. I have had it for 4 years now. When I try to do a lot of what is considered "the best" workout DVD's I hurt myself pretty badly. I can't do anything that requires me to jump or pivot. I am wondering if anyone knows of a good, full body, low impact…

New Here
Hi. I realize I really need a lot of support so I joined up in this group. It's easy for me to self motivate for a week or two but after that it gets rough. Last night I was full of stress. My daughter's birthday party is Saturday so I have a house to clean, I had to get together crafts and activities for girl scouts this…
