So pissed!

The problem has to be my new scale. I weighed myself last Friday and I was 153 lbs. I had been shocked by that as I have been between 160-165 forever now. Two weeks prior I was about 162 and I had had a bad week the week before where I ate tons of junk and did not work out. So I was so shocked to see 153. I kept rechecking it. So, I decided that at least on this scale I was 153 and I would go from here. I did not weigh in again all week, I wanted to wait. I had the best week ever this week. My calories were low, I ate extremely well, and I worked out harder than ever. I am not doing any heavy lifting so I know I did not pack on muscle. I am doing about an hour of cardio a day - walking or biking plus I will do aerobics. I did Slim in 6 twice this week and some kickboxing and circuit training, too. I actually sat and did the math. I figured out what deficit I created through diet and exercise and mathematically I should have lost 2 lbs. But I would have been fine even if the number were the same as last week.

Now the new scale says I weight 156. That really sucks. I mean 156 is not a terrible number but the point is the number went UP after this fabulous week.

Part of me doesn't care though. I FEEL thinner and I now I am healthier. Maybe the scale is irrelevant. Maybe I should not even bother weighing in and just keep doing what I am doing.

Water weight. Give it a week or 2. Your body is just adjusting to your additional activity.

I won't be the last to say this. It's water weight, if you worked out hard this week, your muscles are retaining water to repair. Make sure you drink lots of water to stay hydrated so your body won;t retain as much.

That definetly sucks but dont get discouraged if you worked out a lot your body might be holding some water.

Agree with the other 2 posters.

Also, did you weigh yourself at different times of the day?

I like to think of that as the scale's dirty little way of telling you to keep working hard. When the scale does that- hit 'ignore' and work even harder. If you do- it will drop again.

Keep it together, you;ve had your rant! NEXT WEEK!!! You will see it budge, and agree with the other ladies, most likely water weight... by next week, you will prolly be down 3-4 lbs... lotsa water, and (just a sdie note- green tea no not the garbage Lipton puts in a soda bottle), will help shed water lbs...

Don't let the number on the scale "weigh" you down. It's just a number, be happy when it goes down, but otherwise if you know what you've been doing is right (i.e. eating the right foods, in the right amount, exercising) and you feel better I wouldn't stress the numbers so much. They'll drive you crazy, and as many people have already said, water weight is a mother trucker and it's put on for a number of reasons.

If you ignore last week's number, then you've gone from 162 to 156 in 2 weeks, which is a huge loss. Keep at it.

Last time it was about 2 hours later. But this is 3 whole pounds over last week. If I lost 2lbs, then my weight would be fluctuatiing 5 whole pounds. I usually do not fluctuate more than 2 or 3. I have a feeling my scale is just wrong. LIke I was sure I did not weigh 153 last week but I figured I would at least be able to see if I was losing weight by continuing to use this scale (it is the cheapest one they had at sports authority). my husband on the other hand always weighs himself at the gym on the doctor's scale and the new scale told him he was actually 12 lbs heavier than it says he is at the gym. So I as confused on why it would be wrong on the heavy side for one and on the light side for the other.

I think I am giving up the scale. When I go to the doctor's in June I can find out what I have done. My jeans are looser. That has to be enough for now!

Ignore it......and perhaps consider investing in a slightly better scale that doesn't have that much variation. I would like to tell you to throw the scale away....but since I can't do it yet.....

However, I did start really tracking BF% and that has helped me immensely to see how other things are moving.......

That is very true. The number is not bad at all. If I hadn't seen the lower one I'd be thrilled.

This ^^ sounds like a good idea to me. Judge your success by inches, clothes, stamina and strength. If I looked and felt good and could see improvements in my physical condition, I wouldn't care if the scale said 200 lbs. Actually I might like it because then I could win a lot of stuffed animals at the "guess your weight" booth at fairs.

5lb fluctuation (either way) is normal. I know we all know this is true, and yet its sooooo hard to stomach (ha!) when you step on the scale. I know this is true, and yet I still get annoyed when I go up/down throughout the week.

Sounds like you had a fab week last week. F' your scale!

I feel your pain. I've been stuck at the same weight for the last 6 weeks now. I'll go up a couple of pounds and then back down. It's been so frustrating to the point that I've almost just given up. This morning I'm up two pounds from yesterday. I have an open diary so if anyone out there has any suggestions, I would love to listen.

Sometimes the scale doesn't move but the measuring
tape will, so if you feel good you probably look good as well.

Thanks all. As much as I am not concerned so much with the number I guess it is like a pay off at the end ofyour heard work all week so it is why I wanted to weigh in. I knew I worked so hard I just wanted my hard work validated I wanted my stupid ticker to move lol.
