Rough Success Stories?

I see a lot of people post their success stories and their amazing pictures and it is very motivating. All the ones I have read seem to say the same thing, that the person decided to do it and never looked back- they never went over their calorie allotment or skipped their workouts. I am wondering if anyone has a different sort of success story to share- Has anyone been able to lose a lot of weight over time but had it be a struggle? Did you not work out for a week at a time, go over calorie goal for an entire vacation, or get injured and not been able to do cardio for a month? Has anyone had to overcome these sorts of struggles and still been able to pull off a big weight loss over time?

I have a hard time some times. I give into temptation or I get hurt and cannot workout for 5 or 6 days. When this happens I get the feeling that "everything is ruined" and I will never be able to pull this off. It would really be great to see if anyone else has had these sorts of struggles and persevered.
