Back exercises - Need Some Advice!
I've been doing Stronglifts 5x5 for a few months now and I'm starting to notice that if there's one body part that's weaker than the rest and could potentially limit my progress, it's my back. Are there any not-very-strenuous back exercises I could do on off-days to help strengthen my back a little bit more?

It really is all my mom's fault!
Or, in other words, it's Friday and I'm bored. Please read and discuss. :) http://www.nj.com/opinion/index.ssf/2015/04/letter_smart_nutrition_and_fitness_begin_before_bi.html Note: It's short and easy to read.

Silly question about beans
At least it seems silly to me. Maybe I'm overthinking it. But I gotta know. According to my can of black beans, one serving is half a cup, or 130 grams. The can says there are 3.5 servings per can. However, when I weigh out 130 grams on my scale, it's definitely more than half the can and appears to me to be more than half…

Lower calorie goal - how do you hit your macros?
For those of you (us) smaller-statured individuals with a lower calorie goal, say 1500 or under, do you find it difficult to reach certain macro (or micro) goals and stay within those calories? I am finding it hard to get enough protein without going over 1500 calories in a day. There's only so much baked chicken I can eat…

Anyone else embarrassed to start going to the gym in January?
I was not embarrassed last year because I was so ready and it just felt like a coincidence that when I felt "ready" it happened to also be the beginning of the year. I stuck it out until April, and then I let life circumstances get in my way. Now, yet again, I'm ready to jump back in and it happens to be January. But this…

TRYING NOT TO JUDGE OTHER PEOPLES DIETS...
I don't really want other people's opinions about what I'm doing, it's working well for me and I'm happy with it. I'm trying to extend the same courtesy to others, but today my sister bailed on our workout because she had no energy from doing the three day "military diet." I texted, "and what does that tell you?" And she…

Exercise is not helping my depression
Exercise is supposed to be some great anti depressant. But I'm taking an actual antidepressant in addition to exercising at least once per day, and it's not helping. I'm losing my motivation, I just want to sleep all the time. Anyone else been through this? I feel good right after my workout, but it doesn't last long.

What if you can't afford it?
I've been going to an unofficial crossfit knock-off class at my local gym, which is a teensy bit cheaper than the local box across the street. I'm not going to be able to afford to keep going, I just don't have the money. I have money for a couple months of it because I made a little extra doing some side work, but that's…

Does it matter WHEN you eat your exercise calories?
I am not really a day time eater and because I work out in the evenings and I'm never hungry after a workout, I have a hard time eating enough calories on my workout days. But then I'm super hungry the next day and I tend to eat a lot more. So if I eat my exercise calories the next day, is it basically the same thing?

How many calories should I be eating?
I find that every web site I go to to calculate this tells me something different. MFP has me eating 1200 calories a day - some other websites say I should be eating 1400. I have seen some that say almost 1600. Who do I believe? I've been sticking very close to 1200 calories a day but I don't seem to be seeing results. But…

Weight Loss in Children
I did a search and I found plenty of threads about losing weight when you have children, but has anyone had to deal with how to help a child lose weight? I live with my sister and her kids. I don't have kids of my own, but I've been there since my niece was a baby so I feel like an extra parent to her. She's 5 years old…
