Mistrust of MFP calculations - Anyone else?
Hey Folks, So I've been through a bit of a journey over the last 8 years. I started out at 30st back in 2010 - and got down to 16st within about 12 months. However, over the years I've slowly crept back up to just under 21st. All of my initial weight loss was done by exercising every day, using MFP and sticking very…

What's going on here?
So I lost most of my weight in the first 8-10 months of my journey, but even back then I remember noticing that when I was hitting the gym hard, my weight would remain the same for a couple of weeks followed by a big loss almost overnight. I can't work out why this happens? For the last 6 weeks I've got majorly back into…

Body Size Visualizer
Hello All, A few months ago somebody posted a like to a website which was a chart of people at different heights and weights. So you could pick a guy who was 6ft 1 and 200lb and it would show you how that body shape looked. Anybody remember this link? Typically I can now not find it anywhere. . . . Thanks

Strength Training for "Obese" people?
Hello all, I have been trying to find an answer to this one, but am seeing so many conflicting articles that I thought I'd put it out there. . . . Now I am fairly convinced that when you get down to a certain body fat percentage and are looking to tone-up, that it's all about the strength training. My question is: As the…

Intervals
Hi Guys, I have been doing interval training for a few weeks, and am enjoying it 100% more than stead state cardio. To me this seems to indicate it's worth continuing with. Currently I walk (6.5kph) for 90 secs and then run (12.5kph) for 60 secs. I'm thinking I might switch this to walk 6.5kph for 60 secs, then run 14kph…

How much time do you dedicate to strengh training?
Hi Guys, Having been doing mainly cardio based exercise for the last few months, I have recently started to incorporate strengh. Normally I have been doing this at the end of some cardio sessions for 10-15 mins but wonder if I need to take it more seriously? What kind of time do you guys dedicate to strength? I am normally…

Relatively New Runner - What Should I Be Doing?
Hello all, I hoped you good people might give a newbie a bit of advice regarding the treadmill. I had been just walking up until a couple of weeks ago when one day I decided to try a jog - I was so pleased with myself that I have been going back to the gym every day since just to make sure I can still do it  I'm…

6 Months In - 97lbs down - Halfway Point
Hi Guys, I said I'd post this when I was around halfway through. My journey started on July 13th this year, shortly after I discovered MFP and have logged calories ever since. am now down 97lbs. It's only when I look at the before and after shots that I can see that I have actually achieved something. Only halfway there,…

Weight Loss after Drinking
This is really strange. I'm around 281 lbs and am eating 1200 calories per day. Also work out 3-4 times a week. My weight loss has always been a fairly consistant 2-3lb a week. However on 25th November I went on a big night out and consumed around 3000 calories in alcohol. Next day i was expecting to see a big gain, but to…

Confused by my Weight Loss
I just can't get my head around this weight loss. Doesn't seem to be any rhyme of reason to it ! I've been reall good all week with my eating. Generally stayed between 1100-1250 nett calories per day. Yet I only lost half a pound during the week. Friday night I hit around 1600 nett calories and seemed to drop around 2…

Strange Weight Loss Patterns
Hey Guys, Ok here's the thing. I'm a big guy, and have set my daily calories at 1200. Sometimes I go over, but by and large I'm pretty good with it and am consistently losing a decent amount so far. I'm also a serial weigher, and cannot force myself past the bathroom scales without having a peek. I have noticed that 1 week…

Random Facts
If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days you would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee. (Hardly seems worth it.) The human heart creates enough pressure when it pumps out to the body to squirt blood 30 feet. (O.M.G.!) A pig's orgasm lasts 30 minutes. (In my next life, I want to be a pig) A…

Walking
Exercise has always been my arch enemy. Used to play a bit of football in my younger days, but am long-since past the stage of being able to play. I hate the gym with a passion, so the only thing I really do is walking. I've started walking 2-3 miles a day at 3mph (enough to get me sweating) and it certainly seems to help…
