Happy New Year dear Sneaker friends. I’ve sat up to watch our London fireworks and listened to a few outside but not enough to disturb George and Betty, Now time for my bed.
Wishing everyone good health and happiness. 💕🥰💫⭐️✨💥🍾🥂
Hugs across the pond.

Last night was a challenge with lots of people shooting off guns and fireworks close enough to our neighborhood to be noisy at our house even with the windows closed. It started at about 7PM and lasted past midnight. In years past, Jake slept in the other bedroom and I slept with the dogs. For several years I played music on my phone which was soothing and masked most of the noise. This year with Jake and Annie, I let Jake take the lead. We made it through but Jake barely slept and I was awakened frequently. We all finally fell asleep about 2AM and didn't get up until much later than our usual time. Now Jake is napping and the house is quiet

Happy New Year! I have been out all day with Lisa, her mom and the kiddos. I am exhausted so will check back in the morning.

Happy New Year. I did some household chores today, cleaning sinks, toilets, and doing laundry. I cooked black eyed peas for lunch. They are scrumptious. I watched the parade in London. Very enjoyable! And later I watched the Tournament of Roses parade. Always a favorite for me with all of the horses! Oh, and the Valentine fronts are all assembled but I haven’t found any type of sentiment. I started to sort out paper for St. Patrick’s Day and for Easter. Didn’t find enough so I placed an order this afternoon.
Barbie, I am sorry to hear of all the overnight disruption. This neighborhood is usually very noisy but last night after a few booms, all went silent.
Jackie, I watched some fireworks from various areas around the world. Quite impressive.
Sandy, no doubt you are tired out from all of the festivities.
Be safe everyone.

Happy Tuesday! Legoland was fun, followed by dinner at Olive Garden and then Cheryl invited me over for a toast to the New Year. I only stayed an hour and played a couple of games before heading home exhausted. Today I will be going to Rob's again as Bryanna is doing Lisa's hair and maybe I can get a trim as well. Tomorrow is the Children's Museum, Thursday my meeting and dinner with Bryanna and her mom and sister, Friday might be a movie night here with kiddos, Saturday Max's 7th birthday and Sunday dinner with Cheryl, Marisa and Marisa's Godfather for the Christmas dinner we missed because Marisa was sick. I am going to gain all the weight I ever lost during these holidays and have to start all over again. Ugh!
At least I have Vegas to look forward to at the end of this month.
I hope you all had a good start to your New Year and wish you all good health, happiness and love.

Well, I’m still standing! The new year was very quiet here but much more enjoyable than Christmas. Mark and Mary Jo appeared unexpectedly on New Year’s Day, suitably masked and didn’t linger, but I got a lovely warm sweater, a bottle of sherry, and chocolate biscuits whilst Jilly Bean got two cans of gourmet dog food and a packet of gourmet treats, just to cheer us up. This was nice because I was quite cheerful…..still standing up..
So not much to report but have you seen the awesome pictures of the universe taken by the Webb telescope? Sort of frightening in a way. Just how old is the universe!
I hope the new year is much better than 2023 which quite frankly I’m glad to see the back of. So dear friends HAPPY NEW YEAR HOPE FOR US ALL. Anne.2 -
Hi, just saying hello. I was doing some chores this morning and suddenly was unwell. I don’t know what I ate but my digestive system is causing a lot of turmoil. Just saying hi and hoping tomorrow will be a better day.
Nite!

Do these people look familiar?
Yes, Keeping Up Appearances with Hyacinth Bucket (pronounced Bouquet). 😄😂😄0 -
Yesterday was horrendous here with yet another crazy storm sweeping through. For some reason I thought it would be a good idea to get back into a walking routine so took George and Betty to a section of moors I thought would be sheltered but instead found myself battling 80mph winds and flooded ground! It became almost impossible to walk and a couple of times I came close to being knocked over but the thought of rolling into a gully never to be seen again, was enough to encourage me to stay on my feet! In the afternoon a friend I’ve known for nearly 50 years phoned for a lovely catch up although we both had sad news to impart about lost loved ones. She moved with her husband to France 30 years ago so we haven’t seen much of each other in that time but I said that’s good because we imagine each other still looking like fresh faced youngsters!
This morning I collected Sheila early in the morning and drove into town for grocery shopping. We always manage to have a laugh and both felt it was worth the early start to avoid crowds. I walked George and Betty round the block later just as another nasty storm arrived, so we got soaked again but I’ve changed into comfy, cosy leisure wear and won’t be going out again.
Yes Lin, the Buckets and Hyacinth, who was such a snob she insisted the name was Bouquet! We had some great comedy shows in the 80’s and 90’s whereas I find today’s humour goes over my head!
I’m sorry to read you are not feeling well. These new viruses suck energy out and leave us feeling exhausted so best not to overdo things. I’m still not feeling 100% and fall asleep as soon as I relax. I’ve attempted to set the new German heater in the snug this afternoon, to no avail so thank goodness for the log burner! I think I might have to ask my electrician to visit and set it up for me! 😤
Anne, I’m so pleased to see you had posted because I was imagining Covid had crept up on you, as if it would dare!! The Eagle Nebula universe photos make it look like a giant hand and I think what is being discovered proves we
humans are but tiny dots that should take more care of Mother Earth!
Wow Sandy, having a rest when you get to Vegas sounds like a grand idea!!
Time for my afternoon cuppa and maybe light one of the stoves even though the temperatures are mild.
Happy Wednesday everyone.

Happy Wednesday! Waiting for the phone call that Lisa, kids and her parents are on the way to the children's museum. I am meeting them there since I am closer. Lisa overslept so we are behind schedule which is ok with me.
Keep getting better Jackie and Lin, the rest of you stay upright as Anne says. Have a good day.

Happy Thursday! Meeting day and possibly dinner with either Bryanna, her sister and her mother or maybe just me and Bryanna. I won't know until I get home from my meeting. Bryanna might just come by to say good bye as she is leaving Saturday, it is all up in the air. I just ordered groceries to be delivered later this afternoon and hope most is in stock.
We had a good time at the children's museum and I was home in time for dinner so not a late day.
The holidays are finally coming to an end but still another busy weekend with Max's 7th birthday and dinner on Sunday. Next week other than my shot in my eye and my meeting I can stay home to recuperate. I have to find time to take down my Christmas decorations, maybe tomorrow since I will be home.
I hope all that were not feeling well are doing better and everyone else is staying healthy. Have a good day.

Another dark, dismal and rainy day. Floods everywhere so even a short dog walk is unpleasant and I do believe I’m suffering from SAD because I’m so fed up and becoming irritable at the slightest thing. Also finding it difficult to get motivated to do much but yesterday evening my friend Charmaine phoned to suggest she and her daughter visit Sunday and stay over for the night. She wants to do as we did back in June when we had warm sunshine, so a long walk on the moors, sit outside with a Cornish pasty and an evening meal at a local pub but this time of year little is open! I tried to explain this, as well as point out there are no hotels or BandB open in January so I think we will have to work out a sleepover here! Her daughter has apparently recently broken up with her boyfriend so needs to be occupied! Charmaine is a nurse and has been administering vaccines today so I’ll call her tomorrow to see what she wants to do.
Our radio transmitter has changed frequency this week which requires a new stereo system so, ordered through Amazon, it was delivered this afternoon and because of the torrential rain the courier stepped into my kitchen to place the package in the dry without me knowing. Luckily, he was so quick George didn’t hear him either so he got out without a nip on an ankle!
I’ve managed to set it up and scan for radio stations that I like to listen to but still haven’t got my German heater to do what it should! Luckily, it’s still mild!
Time to cook an evening meal; breaded haddock and steamed veggies. I’ve lost weight since catching the virus and plan to keep it off.
Take care everyone. January 4th already!

Hello, sorry I missed posting yesterday. Thought I had but apparently I didn’t hit the post button.
We had a bit of sunshine today but it has been a crazy day. There was a school shooting at the high school in an adjoining county. The injured were brought to our metro hospitals. One hospital closed its emergency room to anyone needing assistance that were not involved in the incident. There were hours of live news coverage when there really was very little information being released.
The cold just soaked through to the bone as I was out doing a couple of errands. But there was no sunshine then. I think it feels better when the sun is out.
Jackie, do you have one of those SAD lights? It might make you feel better. I saw a video posted by the mom of little girl who is a wonderful rider and jumper. She was riding her horse down a lane and it was just swamped with water and hooves made some interesting noises clomping through the water. Your friend seems to be some grand plans for a get together in horrid weather. Doesn’t seem reasonable. I hope you can get someone out to straighten that German heater into working properly.
I had one month of BritBox and watched Mrs. Brown’s boys - Christmas special. 👀 Still a bit too rude for me. Something you watch Jackie? I also watched a number of episodes of The Last Detective. I liked him and the massive dog (St. Bernard). Always fun to see him trying to walk that dog properly.
Sandy, moving on with the last of the holiday plans. I hope you enjoy whatever time you get with Bryanna.
Still trying to watch what I eat as I don’t want a repeat of the other day.
Be careful out there.

Happy Friday! Christmas decorations are down, laundry is started and just staying in today. Two more days of festivities and then back to normal. We are expecting 5 inches of snow on Tuesday but I am really hoping it changes as that is the day I go for my eye injection. One Day at a Time.
Lin, I do hope you are feeling better, nothing worse than digestive problems. I did see the news about the shooting in Iowa but didn't realize it was so close to you. When will this ever stop?
Jackie, the company sounds nice but would be better in the warmer weather. If you are not up to it, just tell them, I am sure they would understand.
Have a good day everyone and stay healthy.

Good afternoon, cold and overcast again today. Snow in the forecast over and over the next few days. I guess time will tell how much snow we receive.
Sandy, wow, decorations down! Well done.
I have a few things in the pipeline for delivery. Several things should show up at the mailbox today. It would be nice of the mailman delivers before it is dark. 🤞🏻 I spoke with a friend today. I had tried to call her yesterday but no response. She was unwell again and had gone to Urgent Care. She seems to be in a doctor’s office, Urgent Care or Emergency every couple of weeks now.
Making no progress on card designs. Looking through my supplies once again. 👀
Well, stay safe my friends.

I’m sorry I missed posting yesterday but the day and evening ran away with me. What was supposed to be a dry one ended up soaking me and the pooches yet again as we splashed through a river that used to be a road! I messaged Charmaine to explain we wouldn’t be able to do anything she planned on Sunday and when we finally caught up in the evening she agreed that with floods over most of England, it wouldn’t be wise to drive in my direction after dropping off her boy at university. She isn’t comfortable driving in the dark and our days are still short so instead she and her daughter will stay over near the university before heading home. You were right Sandy, and I was so relieved not to have to entertain at the moment!
This morning we did have blue skies so I picked Sheila up and we drove George and Betty up the steep hill where we can avoid walking on soaked ground. They both loved running about while we strolled in cold but dry sunshine. It’s going to become a lot colder but I don’t mind if it means no rain because we’ve apparently had more in the first five days of January than we get in the whole month.
Sandy, I hate weather forecasts that might disrupt appointments, especially snow, and do hope you get to your appointment.
Lin, we don’t hear much about these regular school shootings now because it happens so often but did wonder if the latest was nearby. It’s utter madness and I see copycat incidents happening in other countries these days so can’t imagine what’s going on. The vintage plastic teapot is fun!
I always worry when we don’t hear for a few days and do hope Anne is still healthy and avoiding Covid.
Charmaine tells me there are large numbers of seniors with Covid in the hospital where she works and she worries we don’t hear about it the way we used to. She feels it’s a cover up!
Apart from some housework and laundry, I won’t do too much this afternoon. At least the muddy car seat covers the pooches made so dirty are hanging outside to dry. That’s a miracle in itself!
Stay safe and warm everyone.
Jackie 🥰

Happy Saturday! We had some snow last night and although it looks pretty, I hope it melts before the birthday celebration. I will have to go to Mass tomorrow morning since I won't be home for 5:00 Mass.
Lisa is taking the kids to a trampoline jumping place but the grandparents will go to the house later for pizza and cake. (more food)
Jackie, your weather sounds terrible, maybe you should get a boat. I knew your friends would understand and no one wants to drive on flooding streets especially in the dark. Good decision.
I too, worry when we don't hear from Anne so I hope she checks in soon.
Lin, sorry your friend is unwell and hope she feels better soon. I took the decorations down while I had the time since my schedule is so busy.
I hope our other sneakers are all well and wish they would check in once in a while. Our little group seems to be dwindling. Have a great day.

Hi, we had a bit of snow last night. It disappeared even with the cold overcast sky. More snow is expected tonight and more next week. I am cutting out some fancy shamrocks. One by one, and then clearing out all the extra bits of paper is taking a long time. The color of paper isn’t exactly what I had in mind but sometimes you have to use what you have. I have some paper coming for the backgrounds. So finally, a start!
Sandy, oh yes, pizza and cake. That should make some happy children.
Oh, light snow seems to have started up again. Very very light snow. Hope you don’t get much more snow Sandy.
Jackie, glad your friend took the sensible route and won’t drive into areas with flooding. Wow, blue skies! Excellent. Glad you were able to get outdoors.
I miss Anne and Joy and Diane and Jeri. Always glad to see Barbie! Has anyone been in touch with Patsy?
Well on that less than happy note, I need to move on.
Best wishes.

Good morning! I’ve got another 2 loads of laundry hanging out in the sunshine but plans to collect Sheila and drive to the moor soon had to change because on my way I found myself driving on black ice but managed to very carefully avoid other cars. Sheila was waiting outside and had already discovered how dangerous it was to even walk so I gave her my arm and guided her back to her property. It was so frustrating for the pooches who thought they were going to run on the moors but I’m home safely and the car is back in my garage! I’ll wait until midday then test the roads for a walk round the block.
Lin, I mailed a Christmas card to Patsy, John and Katie, as I’m sure you did, just so they knew they aren’t forgotten but haven’t tried phoning in a long time because previous attempts were unsuccessful. That’s another pretty teapot and I particularly love the butterflies. Last week I found a small butterfly fluttering on the inside of my bedroom window and assumed it had got in to hibernate but the warm fires woke it up. I opened up the window to let it out but sadly it won’t have survived for long. Apparently, Mrs Brown’s boys was slated by the critics at Christmas and the BBC received a lot of complaints from viewers who didn’t think it at all entertaining! The early series were funny but I don’t watch anymore as I think they have run out of ideas.
Oh dear Sandy, more food!! Never mind, I’m sure once you get back to your usual routine, any extra weight will fall off because you are always on the go.
I’m going to put my wellies on to take George and Betty round the block while the sun is at its warmest. Fingers crossed!

Happy Sunday! I am fighting a cold but I plan on winning. Tonight I am going to dinner but did let Cheryl know I am fighting a cold but she said that was fine as long as I was up to it, which I am. Max enjoyed his birthday and after pizza and cake we watched a movie.
Jackie, nothing worse then black ice, glad you were sensible and took it easy. Your weather is really terrible this winter, hopefully spring will come early. Wow, having a butterfly in your home must mean something, like someone is paying you a visit? Hopefully, not your ghost.
Lin, our snow wasn't bad so driving was okay because the roads were clear. Good luck on your cards.
I do wish Patsy would get back to us, I wonder if we should try to reach out to Damon again.
I will be going to 12:15 mass today as I missed yesterday. Have a good day everyone.

Good evening. I took some letters to the post office this morning. With a winter storm on the way I wanted to drop of the envelopes at the 24-hour drop in the lobby. A winter weather warning is in effect from Monday afternoon through Tuesday. Strong winds and a lot of snow. They have changed our forecast several times, currently they have an estimate of up to 11”. I watched church online and then got caught up in a book. I finished it. Also cooked a bit and cut out a few shamrocks.
Sandy, I am sorry you are fighting a cold. I do hope you shake it quickly. Glad you enjoyed the pizza, cake and the movie. Hope you enjoyed dinner with Cheryl. I also hope the winter storm alert does not include your area.
Jackie, wow, weather good enough to hang laundry outdoors. That’s great. I hope you were able to take a walk later in the day. We had a few people running out for groceries and others getting their snowblowers ready for whatever may be coming. And yes, I sent a Christmas card to Patsy. Just hoped that someday she would be back here. I miss her conversation. It seems so long since we heard from her.
I hope everyone who we don’t see every day or two is getting along and okay.

Patsy, my writing pal has passed away? I had an awful feeling that this might have happened and it is with great sadness that I read the news, but very grateful to LIN for letting us know. Hope John and Katie are with family. It’s hard to imagine the fun we had composing our little children’s stories is no more. God bless you Patsy, it was a pleasure to have known you.

Well, it is snowing here now. I am settled in for the duration. Most of my neighbors put their trash bin out tonight. Pickup is on Tuesday but I didn’t want my bin to blow over in the strong winds that are expected by morning. It can wait for next week.
Finished cutting out the Shamrocks for the St. Patrick’s Day cards but my paper shipment still hasn’t emerged. Want to see the exact color of my selections before going any further.
Hoping everyone is safe.

With the weather being so awful, this time freezing and slippery, I threw myself into housework and food preparation yesterday. I was so sad to learn we had lost our dear Patsy but goodness, what a life she had! Weren’t we all lucky to meet her online and get to know her.
Sunshine around midday melted surface ice enough for me to walk round the block with George and Betty. Another walker warned me of black ice where he had come from but generally, I felt safe. Before we went out I prepared vegetable soup with whatever I could find so it was ready to blend when we came home. It was delicious and warming with a couple of cloves and teaspoon of Moroccan spices and there is enough for at least two more lunches. After that I made a chicken casserole in my slow cooker so now, just like Lin, I’m in for the duration!
This morning it’s trying to snow and although there’s not much at the moment, I know how it can quickly build up on the moors.
That is a cheerful teapot Lin and a reminder we are going in the right direction towards Spring, even if slowly!
Sandy, I hope you are managing to fight off that cold. Try to rest just a bit if you can. I did think of you when I found the butterfly in my window because I remembered you once telling me it was a spirit come in to visit. Perhaps I shouldn’t have sent her out into the cold but being chased by Brady would have been worse!! 😁
Take care everyone and keep warm.
Jackie 🥰

Happy Tuesday! We have some snow with more to follow all day. I am still going for my eye injection for my macular degeneration but I am not driving as Marisa is going to take me in her truck. This will be better than my friends picking me up from the eye doctor and going to lunch for an hour or two so my eyes get adjusted from being dilated. The snow is only supposed to get heavier as the day goes on so I will be home and comfy before it gets too bad.
I am still fighting but will take Jackie's suggestion and get some rest the next few days, at least I hope so.
I did love the pictures of Patsy and she certainly did look like I pictured as well, fun and always smiling.
Have a good day everyone and please stay healthy.

Dreadful day here as well. At the moment a sort of rain and sleet mix. The Bean and I won’t be venturing out.
“But if winter seems unkind, spring is never far behind”.
The one thing that Patsy’s passing has done for me is make me realize that time doesn’t stand still and given me an urge to write again. The other thing is I didn’t expect to be so saddened even though in my heart I feared she had died. So dear friends please take care of yourselves and especially on days like today with the awful weather.
Not much going on here. I’m still standing but that’s mainly because apart from meals I isolate myself with Jilly bean. The meals are nothing to write about because of temporary staff! ‘Nuff said! On the newsletter there are now only seven active cases. Cross fingers the meds have got it under control.

Hello. The snow has slowed considerably but the winds have picked up. The snow removal guy had a breakdown with his snowblower so I went out and shoveled for a while. When he got it going, I went to dig out my back deck in case I need to get to the exhaust from my furnace. Depends on the weather but it can get blocked with icicles that need to be removed. That is finished and my gloves, and jacket are soaked. My boots are dripping on the mat. I am tired out. The snow is the heavy stuff. Just right for making snowmen and snow forts. No, I don’t plan on doing that.
At last report, we have 10+ inches of snow. More expected later in the week coupled with a forecast for below zero weather on the weekend and next week. Eeeck. Winter has arrived with a fury.
I miss Patsy as well and I did get out her book just to look through it again. And I do hope John is getting along well and someone is taking care of all the things Patsy used to do for Katie.
Sandy, I hope your shot went well and was not painful. Good idea to ride with Marisa in her truck.
Anne, keep on taking care of yourself. I heard Toronto was expected to have snow. Must be following on from the rain/sleet mix. I hope you do get back to writing. I am sure you have plenty to share!
Jackie, yummy, vegetable soup. It is always so delicious but usually has a different mix of ingredients. Magic! I am chomping right through my little batch of cooked beans. It will be time to make more soon. I did laundry this morning. One load ended up in the dryer while the second load was hung on the lines in my basement. You were fortunate to have a little window of good weather to get your laundry dry. Did you find someone to do battle with that German heater?
Well, time to move along. I am going to have some more hot tea.
Be well.
