Another day in this social distancing period. As usual pretty quiet in this senior community. More people doing some walking to break the monotony of being inside. The last 3 weeks the golf courses have been closed, but they are due to open next week again. It has meant the cart paths have been open for us walkers, which has been a nice change. Lots of new unhappy people with those paths being closed to walkers again. It was so nice to be able to enjoy them; I have lived here 5 yrs and finally saw what so many golfers enjoy. Hate to not be able to enjoy it....

Today we were off to our local Walmart and Safeway to pick up the necessary items, which we do every couple of weeks. Before we climb out of the car we put on our masks, which they recommend though a lot of people still do not do that. I carry my hand sanitizer to use after we get back to the car. Still finding lots of empty shelves in the store. I assume it is because we have more shoppers now that people aren't eating out as much. By now I would have thought there would have been stocked shelves again. So is this the new norm ? Bought some beautiful strawberries. Sure hope they are tastier than the last ones. Missing the med sized artichokes we enjoyed for about a month. Do enjoy those if I can find the med ones.

We took our dog Jacque to the vet for his annual check up. He is 10.5 now. Poor thing now has a heart murmur, which is typical for poodles. Waiting for the report from our now drive up vet. Thats unusual in itself. Drive up, give them a call with your appt time and the assistant comes to take him in. The vet calls on the phone after his
exam, which is when the discussion happens. And finally they bring him out. There is a possibility he will have to be on heart medicine and see a specialist. Reminders of our poodle we had back in 1975. It seems as if we just got him. There are definite signs of his aging now. I can keep him bathed, but he is more than past due for his haircut. It will be a hot miserable summer for him here.

Spring appeared about 3 weeks ago and there are hints of a hot summer coming. 87 today with temps in the 80s this week. We haven't had much rain this winter at all. Fearful of the upcoming summer fires we have been having. Must admit I am enjoying this heat today because I am actually warm and not cold today. I am hoping everyones snow has about ended for the season. It has been a hard year for many.

Discovered recently two of my childhood friends, whom I stay in contact with actually had known each other since kindergarten. One was in my class at school in 2nd grade. The other one I met in 4th grade when all 3 of us went to the same church. Coincidentally the later one was a very good friend with my neighbor friend through their parents. Have fond memories of playing red light, green light, hide and seek and my first sleepovers with her. Such a small world inspite of us living distant enough that we were in 3 different high schools.

So this has been my exciting world this past month. Look forward to seeing how everyone is doing and glad generally all is well with you. I think of you Buzz often and pray your doctors find ways to make your life more comfortable for you. Everyone hang in there and hopefully life will be back almost to an old norm before long. As difficult as this has been for many I think we all have learned a lot of life lessons during this and to cherish every day with those we love when given the opportunity.

    Sleep tight....

Sounds like the Bean.....eventually BARBIE. Her with the short legs. She puts up with me but when Mike takes her for a long walk she usually has to be picked up for the last little stretch. Then she sleeps all afternoon which allows me to do human things rather than being pestered.

There is talk on the weather channel that we are going up to 11C or 53F this afternoon. After two days of light snow the daffs and tulips will be happy. That didn't stop my gloveless fingers nearly dropping off earlier. And That's why I'm busy simmering mixed veggie, cabbage and bean soup for lunch. Soon be too hot for hot soups.

The odd thing about the shut in I thought the days would drag, but no, they shoot by at an alarming rate. Anyone else noticed this phenomena?

The most exciting thing so far today is when I went to retrieve my emptied trash can from the middle of the road a couple ran past with a cheery good morning. Hey, more excitement, Maria is making my bacon and egg pie for lunch. Pray everyone it turns out good! She's just phoned which is just as well because she'd got most of my original instructions wrong.

    Good Morning Everyone,

Life is pretty much the same here although Ed has pulled himself away from his computer from doing genealogy to doing a bunch of yard work. Yes, finally some Spring weather here.
Sunshine and everything is starting to green up. I think the last of the snow in the backyard melted yesterday. Today is cooler but the forecast is for warmer weather.

Thank you everyone for the nice anniversary wishes. I was thinking this morning before I got up how fortunate Ed and I are. I desperately want all this madness to be over but our life is good. We live in a nice house with good neighbors who regularly volunteer to buy us stuff if they are heading to Costco and our girls would be here in a flash with food on our doorsteps if we needed it. We are lucky in that we are retired so aren't worried about losing our jobs or sources of income. And best of all, nobody could love anyone more than we love each other.

    Ok, enough of all that.

    Buzz I was so glad to see your last post. Hope things improve for you with the new meds. Big Big hugs to you and like Jackie I'm throwing my hugs right back at you;

Sandy I loved the video you posted. So funny.

Lin Enjoying your pictures. Glad you can support your local businesses. We are trying to as well. We ordered Pizza from a local restaurant last night and a week ago hamburgers and fries from a local pub. I'd hate the pub to go under as it's been in our community for years. We rarely go there but when we do, we always enjoy it. I want the small places to be able to keep their businesses going. Big box stores and chains just don't have the charm that smaller places do.

Jackie I'm envious of your great places to walk. Unfortunately where I live too many people are walking where I used to love to go - on the ridge overlooking the city. The paths are narrow and it's hard to keep my distance and some people just don't have a clue about proper social distancing. I find I can walk around the neighborhood in areas like cut de sacs etc. and on streets that aren't main straight roads. People tend to do the long straight areas and if I go on side streets then I can slip into the middle of the road if necessary to avoid people.

I must run I have a zoom meeting in a few minutes.

Big hugs to everyone that I missed, sorry I ran out of time.

    Jeri

Happy Friday! :) Doing laundry today and then later will clean the house. (again) My grocery order yesterday was great, only one item that I ordered was unavailable and that was sugar free candy so no big deal. Other than me having to go twice do to my own mistake it was a great way to get groceries without touch. My order was supposed to be ready between 3-4 so I just went after 4 to be told it wasn't ready and they would text me when it was. They texted at 6:30 so next time I will wait for the text. I just ordered from Walmart for next Thursday and this store is closer to my house than the other. This way I don't have to bother Bryanna and she doesn't have to come in my house which I prefer if no one does.

I don't know if any of you saw Trump's update yesterday but I am really embarrassed he is our president. Again sorry if I am offending anyone but seriously when he is telling people that bleach and the hot sun should help cure Covid he is making such a fool of himself. People could die because of his stupidity. Lysol put out a warning today to not ingest or inject their product as it could kill you. I will bet dollars to donuts that he will blame someone else or say he did not say that in his update today. I know so many people that want to move to Canada if he is re-elected, sorry Anne, make room.

Nice hearing from you Jeri and hello to everyone else. I am not sure where this day went but I think I might have to clean tomorrow. Have a good day.

Ahhh!!! Just lost a long post... can't repeat it so will just say to Sandy you mustn't feel embarrassed even if the rest of the world is laughing at the latest Trump comment (taken out of context of course!) We've come to expect it but if his cohorts who stand with him as he regularly comes out with nonsense aren't prepared to disagree or try to stop him what can you do? Laugh along with the rest of us!! 😂🤣

Another lovely day, warm and sunny so this evening I visited the allotment with my neighbours and we've started to plant cabbages and sow seeds... carrots today.

You'll have to guess what the rest of my long post covered! Loved Lin's tree and little Jilly Bean and agreed with Jeri, too many walkers appearing in what were quiet areas... how dare they!

Time to close windows and the door as the temperature is falling.

    Stay safe everyone 🤗

Everyone welcome if you can put up with a less than perfect house SANDY but we are having our own problems at the moment. Unbelievable!
Trump is now saying he was being sarcastic. No he wasn't, I saw him on TV. He was deadly serious.

Maria made my pie. The pie gives 4 hefty slices and they ate the entire pie for lunch! Loved it and she thanked me profusely for an old world war 2 recipe that was made because it was so economical. I can't believe they ate an entire pie! Move over Jamie Oliver!

Your soil looks very healthy JACKIE.

Read you all tomorrow. Stay safe,
    Anne.

Strange how little things bring home the reality of how our lives have had to change. Sitting in the conservatory with my snack lunch a knock at the door announced the postman’s arrival with 2 Amazon packages but instead of waiting for me and handing them over he put them on the floor and walked quickly away as soon as I appeared. I called out thanks and take care so he said you too and rushed away. We usually have a chat but not these days which is so surreal and yet it’s happening!

Cooler today with high clouds but ideal for the few jobs I want to do in the garden. My neighbour just came round to tell me George has chewed his way into their garden and has been chasing the water from their power washer as they clean their deck. Since he’s soaked I’ve suggested he stay where he is for now!

Dearest Buzz, yes the swelling in your hand certainly does show and looks so painful. There has to be an answer to why this is happening so let the experts do their job but tell them we are all missing you and your posts so they’d better find a solution and quickly. 🥰

Another week of lockdown done friends so let’s hope, as Churchill said, it might be the end of the beginning! As for Mr T, he can only hope even his supporters wouldn’t be so stupid as to believe his latest suggestion. Just caught sight of the back of my hands through reading glasses and noticed the damage all the hand washing has done. 🥺

Happy Saturday and I hope you are all warming up and no snow or rain so even a short walk will seem inviting.

GLORIOUS SPRING MORNING HERE! I don't think I've ever been so pleased to see the dandelions and their sunny little faces on our lonesome walk. Just a runner in the distance. More good news, no flyers or junk in the mailbox!

We ARE missing you BUZZ and I echo JACKIE.

I've just made a cheque out for Mark to pay him for Aprils groceries. Enclosed receipts. Life sure is different these days. Hope he can do one more run, and then I should get the grocery delivery order on May 10th. After that, who knows!

On our walk this morning we found a notice near the mailboxes offering free veggie seeds. I've still got some over from last year so hopefully will sow those!

Hope you are ALL enjoying the sunshine and a temperature of 52F this afternoon. It was 45F on our walk.

JACKIE, ANNE, JERI, SANDY, LIN, DIANE, PATSY, plus everyone this foggy brain has omitted, thank you for your kind and precious words! My Dr is now adding an antibiotic to all the pain and swelling pills, hoping to get that crazy hand under control again! There is also a discussion of making an exception about hospital first ( since I never left my apartment), and accepting me into the nursing area Monday or Tuesday after a battery of tests. She also ordered a probiotic costing more than the antibiotic, being over the counter!
Just received my Tax Return finished and ready for signing. Accountant says to keep perfect records for next year as they become more complicated!
Haven't the strength to remain at my desk (and correct errors) so Happy Weekend , my loves!

Good morning. Where did my post from yesterday end up? Well, gone, gone, gone. At least the photos are there.

Anne, so glad you are having some good spring weather. We have some sunshine this morning but are apparently in for a period of cloudiness and rain for the next few days. We normally have rain and a wind storm when the crab apple trees are blooming, scattering blossoms everywhere. That is interesting that you received an offer for free vegetable seeds. All online sources are slammed with business, forcing people to shop in person at garden centers or do without. So that is a huge offer! Oh, and also our online grocery delivery service has apparently been able to obtain more shoppers (due to unemployment?) and more slots have become available, both quickly and a week out. That of course does not mean supplies in the grocery stores have increased as well.

Jackie, my goodness, George is quite the character. Made his way into the neighbor’s garden. What did he chew to make his way? Are they angry? As to the whole disinfectant/UV light debacle, I will say several of his rabid supporters have posted on Facebook (yes, some of them are my friends there) saying if you cannot recognize his jokes when you see them you just don’t understand him. And people who think he was serious are idiots. Really? I expect a President to be earnest in his remarks and to lead a nation not one who fights with and belittles people at will. Another change of subject, your photo of the allotment is stupendous! ❤️❤️

Sandy, glad you got your delivery. I spoke to a friend yesterday and they are getting drive-up deliveries from Walmart and say they are pleased with the quality of everything and in general get what they order. She says she even makes notes about what she prefers in bananas. They also use Instacart to shop Costco and Fresh Thyme. So I guess they are well stocked although she did say they have not been able to to get any toilet paper. With all of their orders I was surprised at that.

Buzz, oh my, your poor hand! Ouch....I am surprised you have been able to type anything at all. Sending prayers for healing ❤️❤️

Jeri, hello and thank you for the lovely update. I enjoy hearing from you. One of our popular parks with a wonderful walking/jogging/bike trail became too popular. So, they closed down the parking lot. If you want to get to that park you have to be dedicated to getting there. But I am certain people will get there and will be closer than 6’. Our state is opening up farmers markets next week but not campgrounds. I see nothing but fighting over this issue on Facebook. I hope you are finding places to walk that continue to be pleasant and not full of people.

Diane, life really has changed. Even a trip to the vet is unrecognizable. What if you have a very nervous pet? They, at one time, wanted the owner in the exam room to help calm the patient? Hummmm. As far as empty shelves, the latest explanation I have heard is that people are forced to eat at home rather than going out and they are straining the grocery system. I don’t know.

Patsy, I think I missed your latest update. Sorry your neighbor is set on ripping up and remaking nature. Little bits of natural woodlands would be worthy of saving.

I won’t repeat all my little ‘stuff’ from yesterday. I doubt it was interesting yesterday and maybe less so today. 😀😀

I did finish some cards and got them mailed. I am working on another few again today I am hoping to find a card project that grabs me to the extent I want to make a number of the same card. Keeping me happy, busy and feeling like I have a purpose these days. Although not that many people are very excited to receive a card. Too many other stresses weighing down on them I would imagine.

    Must move along. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Happy Saturday! :) Rainy day here isn't helping my mood. I did not clean yesterday so I am going to attempt to clean today, at least the bathrooms. I have been going back and forth with a bingo friend about orangeman and can't believe that she doesn't seem bothered by his remarks at all. She said he was joking and I said what kind of a leader jokes during his update about a pandemic? I think they are all brainwashed. Even the White House wants to limit his updates because he doesn't think before he talks. Sorry but when I heard him say that live on Thursday I could hardly sleep that night worrying about people who might think he was right and try something to kill themselves. I think I will be living with Anne if he gets voted in again.

Lin, very different teapot, odd but pretty. Yes, mine will be a drive up as well from Walmart. I just hope they have most of the products I requested.

Anne, finally some good weather to walk, I am happy for you. I don't think we are ever getting spring. It would be great to get out and walk again, I felt so good when I did those 2 miles.

Buzz, it sounds like it is a good idea to get on the nursing floor. No one wants to see you suffer so hopefully they can help you. We are here for you always even if it is just in spirit.

Jackie, I had ordered some adult beverages to be delivered yesterday and met the guy at the front door to put my ID on the window so he could prove I was over 21. No contact which is the new norm of our world. I know what you mean about your hands mine are the same.

Well if I am going to clean I better get to it before it is time for dinner. Have a safe day.

Hello! Cloudy and showers today but it smells wonderful out. I have the windows open but there is no problem with only gentle showers. The earth is warming up and leaves are coming on as well as a lovely flowering crab apple tree.

The hospitals here are excepting non-essential services for patients as long as they are able to keep the isolation area available for possible virus cases. That is good news for a lot of people who have been deating with serious issues without help. One small very cute coastal tourist town has a sign at the entrance, the town of Cannon Beach is closed to all visitors due to the pandemic! Yes! Life has changed. I think it will remain odd until we have a vaccine and it is supplied to most people. Might take a while. Our governor plans a slow recovery starting with just a few businesses like vets offices and the hospitals. We are all nervous and have a Cautious eye at this reopening plan.

My hands are so wrinkled and chapped they are scary. The look like something not quite human. I also bruise very easily and I have several bruises on the back of my hands. My nails have always been very short and ragged. Lovely! Just lovely!

John and laughed at the huge landscaping effort of our neighbors. It is diverting and scandalously fun to cluck and gasp at each new load of top soil and rocks that are delivered.

Buzz! I think of you constantly. Get well! You can do this! We love and miss you dearly!

So....if we don't recognize the "kings" jokes and sarcasm we are idiots? The real idiots are the people who can't understand that even if he WAS being sarcastic you do not say things like that when children or vulnerable adults could be listening and taking note. It worried the heck out of me as well SANDY. However, he WASN'T being sarcastic however much he tries to wriggle out of it. Watch the body language at the original newscast folks.
I think Biden should use Sandy's video song in his campaign!

Meanwhile whilst the majority are isolating here a bunch of idiots assembled outside the Ontario parliament today protesting isolation and shutdown. Our provincial premier was giving a TV news update at the same time and boy did he give some very scathing comments about "a bunch of yahoos" risking their own lives and the nurses and doctors lives who will end up looking after them. His MIL at 95 is suffering with this deadly virus.

I'm fed up with soup however delicious so I cooked myself a big plateful of chips this afternoon. Not French fries, those stringy things masquerading as chips, but honest to goodness real chunky English chips. And no ketchup, good old fashioned HP sauce. Feel much better!

I shall lie low for the next little while. Don't want a stroke!
    Annie.
