I like that teapot as much as the daffodil one. But then I like the wild violets that grow in the woods back home.
You asked if I still do the mystery jigsaws daily on the iPad LIN. Yes I do and some are very easy but others are a little harder. I think the finished picture will be easy to guess and then it isn't. At first I thought today's was a farmer in a field but that changed to stone so I thought it was Jackie's stone circle. It turned out to be Easter island statues when finished.

Hmm, Easter Island statues could be same era as our poor Hurlers who are stuck there forever having misbehaved on the Sabbath! 😆
Lots going on. including fighter jets screaming overhead and someone firing a gun a few fields away... perhaps we’re at war and nobody bothered to tell me! Dear George did his best to jump up at the jets to see them off!!

Golly JACKIE whatever happened to placid pastoral life in Britain. We had jets flying up and down the east coast with farmers complaining about frightened cows and chickens when I lived there and I guess nothing's changed! Let's hope it's just the boys having practice runs. I read today that the reporters and journalists are leaving China whilst Canada's two business men still languish in prison on trumped up charges. I hope the Great Wall of China isn't on anyone's vacation to do list!
Meanwhile back here we are waving goodbye to yesterday's heat wave and I've got all the lamps lit on a very dark and gloomy day. We might get snow tomorrow morning.
And grocery delivery just phoned and will be here soon one and a half hours early as usual these days. Hot cross buns hopefully!

Hello friends. I received a little grocery order today and all of my items (though quite small in number) were available. They were early today but not as early as your order Anne.
I am washing bedding today and continuing to clean things out of the basement. All available trash space will be gone soon until the next pickup day.
Also getting ready to plant my vegetable seeds indoors tomorrow. My April Fool’s Day project. Maybe not a great choice of day? I am waiting for some little labels to arrive later today so will wait until they arrive so I can keep track of variety of tomato. I also filled out a survey from a company looking for people to test grow a new variety of tomato seed this year. They apparently want in ground and container growers. I am not sure of the growing zones as I imagine I just received the request since I order tomato seeds from them. It would be fun!
We have sunshine today but it is windy and gosh, just above freezing. Waiting for warmer weather over the weekend.
I have taken a photo of my vaccine card and also made a couple of photocopies and cut each down to the size of the original card and laminated each of them. The original and one copy are with my passport. The other in my wallet. I am set, for now.

It seems once you start delving into the construction of 170 year old cottages the list of must do’s gets longer and longer. Of course the cost of renovation increases too so as I sit in late afternoon sun sipping a cuppa I can’t help but wonder what would happen to the place if I left well alone! In similar situations Granny would have said ‘too late she cried waving her wooden leg’, in other words crack on. Dave and Joe are hardworking and already have both rooms back to stone and I’m sure it will look wonderful when finished, just have to deal with underfloor damp, Rotten oak joists where they were hidden away In the ceiling behind the old plaster plus some rather worrying soggy wooden lintels. They will be back in the morning with the electrician that worked here before Christmas to make a plan.
Anne, your weather is promising to be as bad as ours over Easter... freezing winds, sleet and snow so poor dear Mother Nature will be in shock! I’m insisting the builders unwrap my multi fuel stove from its protective coat over Easter so I can at least build up some warmth in the place.
Few countries I’d want to visit these days as it seems anyone can be accused by any dictatorship of being a spy just for the fun of it. Iran’s prisons are apparently full of innocent westerners, not that I’d fancy a visit since it’s no longer Persia!! Lovely people but...
Nearly time to cook my evening meal but first I’ll check my seeds growing in the greenhouse, see if they require water. Lots of kitchen surfaces to wash down as well. 😣

Happy Wednesday!
Pajama day for me, I need a day to do nothing. It is cold here but like Lin we will hit 70 on Easter Sunday. No movie night Saturday as we will be together on Easter. My friends and I are making plans for lunch to start celebrating birthdays at the end of April when we will all be fully vaccinated. My son and DIL will also be visiting the end of April as they also are fully vaccinated and she wants to see her migraine doctor in Chicago. Life is slowly moving back to normal but still with facemasks and social distancing when out in public.
Jackie, yep, that is a problem with remodeling there is always more to do than planned. It will be worth it when it is all done so try and have patience and hopefully enough money.
Lin, I have my vaccination card in a plastic holder that Bryanna's mother gave me. I keep it in my purse with my insurance cards. Good idea to make a copy and shrink and laminate it to put in my passport, thank you.
Annsie, our weather has turned as well, but will get warmer over the weekend. What are your plans for Easter? My DIL also does puzzles on her laptop but she does so many pieces I don't know how she does them.
Patsy, hope all is well, the same for Bob.
Lisa suggested I watch Lucifer so I will start that and continue with Gloucester which I am loving. So many shows and just not enough time to watch them all.

Oh boy JACKIE, if this place was mine I wouldn't dare to start poking around. For instance I have wood panelling on the walls leading down the stairs to the basement and I suspect carpenter ants behind. Not seen any inside but I have seen a few on the outside siding once spring gets things waking up. This place will be torn down once I'm a goner. Have your neighbours cottages been renovated? I've read some horrifying accounts of various landed gentry being left crumbling stately homes in the U.K. and faced with enormous bills because it's their "duty" to pass the house on to their heirs.
Hence "open to the public for an entrance fee". My place will be 100 years old in 2024.
I do sympathize and I'm so glad winter at least is behind you and all will be cozy by this coming Christmas.
Poor Robby, quote: life is so hard! There's a Victorian poem I can't remember. It's about children playing in a graveyard and finishes up with "unaware of their fate the little victims play". Oh to be Robbys innocent age unaware of a future consisting of rotting joists and carpenter ants etc.!

Hello sunshine! It is a beautiful, if a bit chilly, day. I am in a thick heavy sweater wanting to do my exercises on the deck. Katie has only been outside 20 times this morning. She reports that we have little birds flying around the vine maple tree. Our crow hasn’t been around this spring. I hope he found a nice convenient spot to winter.
Everyone is getting their shots along with stern warnings about this doesn’t mean we can let down our guard yet. I get that! At this point I think I can hold out another couple of months. Would love to see my family, in person, face to face! Give them a real hug and kiss their cheeks.
Easter will be low key because we don’t have any little ones in the family. I will watch Easter Sunday Mass on TV, as usual. I remember sunrise mass as a kid. It was so special. We will try a zoom call with our son and daughter. Then a fish boulliouse, French bread and salad for Easter dinner. John would love Easter ham but we don’t eat red meat or pork any more. We do eat eggs and fish as a protein source. I know our personal philosophy has some missing logic.
Jackie: it must feel like that little boy with his finger in the dike. New holes are showing up and it is hard to plug all the leaks at once. Your building projects are really life’s peak moments, it is just hard to see them right now. We look back on our big remodel projects with great love and satisfaction. I learned the great ability of SOFT FOCUS! Dirt and dust? Where?
Sandy: I am happy for you and that lovely little family you are so close to. You do realize...you are the glue that keeps things together. Seriously! You are a beautiful mother/grandmother. You teach me the great joy of family togetherness.
Anne: I am not patient enough to do puzzles. I become impatient and find myself trying to force the pieces together. You agree that is a poor plan, at best. But I love games, my favorite is trivial pursuit. I also love charades, Pictionary, and other board games. However these really need lots of people and that is a problem these days.
Lin: great idea on the vaccine card. I will follow your good example, this very day. Growing tomatoes from seed takes a special skill. Few people can do it. Even starting with tiny healthy starts is a iffy proposition.

Just a quick check-in.
Woke up yesterday with a scratchy throat etc. so I skipped Blink and watched Endeavor episodes. This morning the throat feels better and now a head-cold (with lots of nose-blowing etc). So much for my 2 years without any of the normal sickness everyone gets.
Normally, I wouldn’t give “a rats U know what”( I’m not one of “those guys” when sick). BUT between Easter and my 2nd vaccine shot appt sched for next week doing all I can for a quick mend.
This morning looks like an April 1st joke --- so much for 70 degrees and grilling! LOL
Oddly enough all of this started with the absence of Patsy when her WiFi went down… perhaps there is a connection????? LOL

Sandy – You have more willpower than me – you “split” a dipped Edible Arrangement pineapple-on-a-skewer???? I would have been feigning disbelief that the company had failed to include more than one. LOL. As for vaccine (and I am not anti-vaccine per se) I think people have to do whatever is best for them and their peace of mind. My best friend of 60 yrs called yesterday and his entire family has been locked down tighter than a drum since the start – even though our area is doing pretty good overall. His “bubble” makes you look like a loose cannon (ha ha ha).
Lin – as you can see by this morning’s pic above—no 60’s today for us either – just a memory.
Well Jean just came in my “office” etc. I told her I would head down soon for an Endeavor episode / visit.

I'm all cuddled up in my thick polo neck. My polo neck had been put away for summer, lesson, don't count your chickens before they are hatched. Back to maybe six unhatched baby cockerels! JACKIE.
As we used to say in my youth "Ne'er cast a clout (clothing) before May is out".
No Aprils fool joke. Our province premier is giving a talk at lunch. Speculation is shut down for 28 days again as the hospitals overflow with our slow immunization programme. We are maybe going into the grey zone. Who knows. I'm wondering if Mike would like to stay with me if he's locked out of work again and we can form our own bubble. I think it would be better than locked away in a high rise and IF the weather warms up we have the garden to sit in.
Other than that not much going on here.
Sorry about the cold BOB. Colds are misery from what I can remember. I'm touching wood as I say that!

Hello everyone. Sunny and 17c today and I’m on my favourite swing seat sipping tea and looking at floor tile samples. Feeling happier about the list of renovation jobs and enjoyed a chat with electrician Paul who dropped in to liaise with Dave. They will be back Tuesday morning to crack on. Patsy, I love your idea of a soft focus view and have already adopted it! It will look lovely and homey when finished and I’m already contemplating exposed
granite lintels to replace the rotten oak!
So we are all heading back into Winter! Our temperatures will also fall throughout Easter and by Monday barely get above freezing. Hard to believe as I sit in warm sunshine.
When I looked this morning I noticed a couple of the new eggs had been pushed out of the nest. Wouldn’t it be great if mother hen could recognise a cockerel embryo and say no thank you. The anticipation is killing me!!
Anne, of course Jilly would love to have Mike stay assuming you are still allowed to go walkies during your impending lockdown. Looks like we Brits will be Guinnea pigs testing just how well the vaccines protect us because our infection rates are very low as we begin to stretch our legs and socialise a bit at a time.
Bob, just like Anne I touch wood as I confess I haven’t had a head cold in over 12 years. Does that show me as an unsociable creature? Will you take a test just in case it’s mild Covid? Tim Spector would ask you to if you lived in sunny England!
Oh Sandy, what a cute kid Robby is. Life is so black and white simple at that age. I wonder what happens to change us!

I’ve made quite a dent in weeding chores today and am hoping to carry on even when the Arctic blast arrives.
Enjoy Thursday everyone. My day was so traumatic yesterday as more problems were uncovered I poured myself a glass of red wine to have with the evening meal. Lots left so will enjoy another tonight but not sure how that will affect tomorrow’s weigh in... just saying!

Happy Thursday! No snow but still chilly. Meeting today but nothing else planned just maybe watching more of Lucifer and riding my bike. Can't wait for the weekend when we will hit 75 on Easter.
Annsie, cases are going up here as well, people are being lax after they get their vaccines and others just don't care.
It seems to be the younger generation which is sad. I think that is an excellent idea if you go into another shutdown.
It would be great to be together and keep each other company. Cute but sad poem, thanks for sharing.
Bob, there were more dipped pineapple skewers, I even paid extra for more, but the lady had cooking scissors so I just cut a pineapple in half. I probably shouldn't have even opened the arrangement but Joe asked me too so I could have a piece of fruit. I think he gave it to his son and his family as he really watches what he eats. Taking him to lunch so he can eat healthy, possibly next week. Sorry about the snow and your cold, get better soon.
Patsy, I love being with family especially grandchildren but I enjoy other adult company as well, thus the plans for lunch. We will be ordering food for Easter so we don't have to mess with cooking or dishwashing. It will be a great day to be outside in the sunshine.

Good day. Thursday afternoon and another cold but sunny day. I have started making phone calls for appointments and other misc errands. Second day waiting for a call back to schedule service for my Honda. This is disgusting. Not that I want in right away, I was hoping for an appointment later in the month but continually ignored is a problem for me. It was a week last time remember? And I had a problem that time.
As I suspected, the dermatologist is packed. I have an appointment in mid-May. First available.
I also have a service appointment for my air conditioning unit and the make up service on my furnace later this month.
I was able to catch up with the company that supplies my water conditioning service. I paid over the phone for some replacement filters and made an appointment for curbside pickup this morning. They didn’t answer the phone either but instead of leaving a call back number I just called until someone picked up.
I have a list of things (the list is in my head right now, I had better write it down) for my handyman. Several things are inside my house so hoping to wait a little while but not too long. 😄
There’s also the eye doctor, a trip to the lab for blood work, and maybe getting my hair trimmed.
It is probably funny or odd to most people that I have been putting off all of these things. Most people have been doing these things all along. And I haven’t even gotten to the point of going into a grocery store.
I received an email from a friend who told me she and her husband are fully vaccinated now but are not interested in expanding their activities beyond their kids and grandkids for the foreseeable future.
Other friends are interested in scheduling coffee get togethers soon. I don’t think I am ready for that.
I read an article that that an interactive quiz type deal about how risky certain activities might be. I of course had to fill it in for Mah Jongg. Indoor activity, not everyone vaccinated, ventilation unknown, people outside your normal circle, duration over 1 hour and then the kicker, I added my county of residence. I thought sirens would go off as the result was so far in the Red zone.
I have my peat pellets hydrated and ready to plant. The seedling/germination mat is plugged in. I am ready to plant this afternoon. I won’t wait just because the weather is cold today. The plants have to live indoors for a while so might as well get started.
Sandy, glad you are having a day that isn’t rushed. Easter will be here soon. I am wondering if my church will be streaming this evening’s service and the rest of the services this week. I guess I will just check and see.
April Fool’s Day jokes are difficult to come by but here’s something.
Jackie, congratulations on the weeding. Still too cold and windy for me to tackle any of the outside work. And there is a lot. I am sorry for the additional problems with your house. Very troubling to have to address them but you are making progress and your contractors are quite skilled. Did you get a heat source last night? I was concerned that you would be freezing.
Annsie, sometimes it is a very good thing to have heavier clothing available all year round. As our weather has become more erratic, probably always great to have a heavier top and a jacket as well ready to use! Well, if Mike stays with you, will there be the same issues with comfort? Wasn’t a place to sleep a problem for him? I cannot remember exactly what was wrong but it seemed he was not comfortable. Jilly will be so happy and you’re right, you will be able to sit outdoors because spring must come and stay one of these days.
Bob, oh my gosh, a cold! Horrors. Just what you do not need at this point. I need to knock on wood too as I haven’t had a cold for a very long time but I think all the aversion to colds and flu is more than balanced off by the continual sinus and allergy problems. Okay, so my friend says you must have chicken soup. No really, it is a cure she uses and recommends to all her friends. Just passing it along, I would need vegetable soup.
Patsy, very nice plans for Easter. A special meal for you and John. I remember Easter ham was the meal of choice each Easter. It was never a favorite for me. My mom cooked a huge ham and then what to do with all the leftovers? She often ground a good portion of it and made ham salad so we had sandwiches for days.
I still need to add a teapot.

Ah, the bed was short for my lanky son LIN. However his place of work isn't scheduled for shutdown alas. Just the usual, pubs, hair salons, barbers shops etc.
Well my bedding arrived and I'm absolutely delighted with it. Very summery. I've still got my much thicker duvet cover for next winter. How do you think the Bean will fit in with all the embroidered flowers!

Wow! Winter refuses to move on! I remember when we lived in Colorado and Wyoming, spring snow storms were vicious. So unwelcome when one is yearning for a warm spring day and an Easter egg hunt on green grass...not snow covered brown grass.
Our son is getting 1st shot and 2nd is scheduled at the same time. Also a boat cleanup and pot luck is scheduled with vaccine card -carrying sailors. These young people are all of the same age and they are letting each other know about places to get their shots. Damon has let everyone know they can not come onboard without a vaccine card and the appropriate waiting time. Even if it is outside, they have wear a mask. Too risky without one. I am still very worried about this. He says he will be firm about safeguards.
Our Easter will be spent on the phone to family and a couple of friends. I remember we used to watch oldie movies like “Wizard of Oz” on Easter while dinner was cooking. After church and lots of Easter eggs hunts and candy!
No candy but maybe old movies, we will see.

Lin, I will call my dermatologist next week. I changed my blood donation to next Friday. I think I am all set with the other doctors except my dental cleanings every three months.

It's good Friday and Mike will be over to sit in our "bubble" and join us for traditional homemade fish and chips. I was looking at various batter recipes and I've found out fish and chips were invented by the Portuguese! WHAT !! Mary Jo had a good laugh because her parents used to "malign" us Brits and our love for fish and chips AND peas ! Unfortunately her parents are no longer with us so I can't gloat which would be very naughty on a very holy day.
Anne. Still trying to be saintly as the name Anne would suggest. 😇. In case anyone isn't aware Jesus's poor mom was named Anne.0 -
Happy Friday/Good Friday! 50 today but 65 tomorrow and 75 for Easter. Laundry is going and will try to clean the house with my sore finger. Will stop at 3 to say a prayer in memory of Jesus's passing. Continue to ride the bike everyday and hope I keep it up when things open up.
Annsie, fish and chips sounds good to me but I will be having a lean crusine cheese pizza for dinner. I always thought fish and chips was an English thing as probably many others did. Forget the peas not a vegetable I like.
