Good day. Another day of unceasing changes. Cold is the only constant today. Drizzle, wind, sun, sometimes yes sometimes no.

Got home and received an unexpected call from a lady who had helped to care for my mother a long time ago. A dear family friend and former Pastor who was kind enough to conduct my dad's funeral just passed away. We talked for a while and she wants to organize a trip down here later this spring and will bring several other ladies with her who also cared for my mother. We will see if she'll be able to manage it. The other two are not so well these days.

Big score at Trader Joe's this morning!!! So exciting.

Life is okay when I have my vegetables!!!

    Hugs to all.

Finished my Dr appt, now having a coffee killing an hour before Jim's Dr appt, then groceries.
I'm parked at a newly opened store called Ollie's Bargain Outlet. I've never heard of this one. I'm trying not to go inside! I can more easily resist when i don't know I need something.
Anne, glad you didn't have a mess to clean up.
Lin, your photo looks like a be healthy lifestyle advertisement.
    Marie is quiet these days.
    See ya later,

The news reader has just assured us that the polar vortex promised for Sunday and Monday is NOT an Aprils fool day joke. 5 cm of snow predicted. The other news at noon that got me really excited, archaeologists think they've found another Viking settlement on the west coast of Newfoundland and are surmising there could be hidden sites as far west as us and as far south as New York. I wonder what happened to them? The Vikings I mean! Probably either got wiped out with polar vortexes or scurried back to the UK to do a spot of pillaging and thus escape polar vortexes! If you are wondering why PVs are bothering me so much, I'm worried about the birds who are rushing about with twigs etc for their nests and don't watch the noon time news.

Well I had a good week with my weight loss.
    3 lbs gone.
I also won a quilt. It was raffled off and I won.
    My week is going good.

Anne - I hope the weathermen are wrong on the the amount of snow we are supposed to get. Oh well
we will just have to wait. So far, cloudy still kind of warm but will decrease as the day goes on.

Lin - Your vegetables look great! Sorry for your loss of your pastor, is this at your church?

Marcella - I hope you get some sleep tonight and take advantage of your time off at home. Relax!

We just got back from White Oakes, hotel/health club, to check out some maala(sp.)bead necklaces in the gift shop. My friend Mary Jane wanted to make one, it has 108 beads and a stone at the end of the
necklace. They are meditation beads and the cost of one was $127 Can. I was thinking about buying
one until I found out the cost, too much for me. So she will do more research on them. We had a
lovely lunch at the Play Cafe and now just got home. A spontaneous trip today which are always fun.

WHOOPIE! Turned in my taxes to our wonderful accountant who will put them in acceptable condition so I don't have to worry until this time next year! Meanwhile, I started organizing the 2016 receipts to try to make it easier! Load off my mind!
My area had a phenomenal number of lightening strikes yesterday ; over 2500! But today is sunshine lovely again.
I finally printed a bunch of thank you's to all those here who sent contributions to charities in memory of Adam. His ashes will be interred next Wednesday and I do hope his parents will heal to some degree.
I hope PHOEBE's Dr reports are good ones, and I see where I must get going for dinner. My arthritis in the feet were unbearable last night so I got up at 4 AM to take a couple of Aleve and was able to get a bit of sleep. I really think that's what it is that becomes painful when the weather changes, as everyone else seems to feel it at the same time I do! I refuse to go on heavier medication as that brings about other problems which I don't need.
Love LIN's veggie pictures and enjoyed JACKIE's and SANDY' s posts as well as SHIRLEY's about those costly beads! MARCELLA, ANNE, PATSY, you all make my day, which is fleeting by too quickly. Should be easier tomorrow with that tax load off my mind!

Happy Friday!! :) Another rainy day so stayed indoors except for when Robby left and I ran to Walmart. I wanted a reading lamp for my chair since it is a little too dark to read my Al Anon books in the morning while waiting for Robby. Also bought a few groceries so I don't have to go over the weekend. I am thinking of going to meet my friend at the casino tomorrow for a few hours but still haven't decided. If I do go I would like to be back to go to Mass and dinner with Babe. Sunday I am watching Daisy while Babe goes to a triple header soft ball game for Marisa. My granddaughter from Minnesota wants to come and visit me for a weekend so we decided on June 3-5. I will buy her a plane ticket as I am taking Bryanna to Florida in June.
I am also trying to go to Phoenix in May but have to wait and see when Lisa's parents will actually be home. Lisa said they are buying a house there to go to in the winter so they might end up staying longer than I thought. Bummer.

I put a post on Face book that I am giving up my lease and going to live with each of my four kids for three months. I asked who wanted to be first and my daughter actually said ME! ME!
My son in Arizona said there goes the neighborhood and others knew what I was doing.

Hooray a new USB keyboard has arrived and works so now all I have to do is get used to being at the end of a cable instead of below the screen but tell myself it's similar to the old desktop! If I ever find my antique dining table and chairs I'll be all set but at the moment am having to stand at the kitchen counter which encourages a rather senile cat Boris to come and shout at me for his meal because that can only be the possible reason for being in the kitchen even if he was fed this morning already!

Anne ~ The white blob may well be moving to your east coast so hang in there! Our walk this morning felt cold enough to snow although weather forecaster predicting a warm day.... she should stand on the moors for 5 minutes!

Marie ~ There's nothing worse than painful hips when you're trying to sleep, I know because mine plays up sometimes and I toss about from one side to another. So pleased to read you are out of pain and long may that last.

Lin ~ Those veggies look similar to my shopping basket contents so I bet you feel as good as me as you unpack at home and figure out what delicious meal you can concoct with it.

Patsy ~ I'm excited about your new family member if it should work out and can't wait to see photos. There are so many abandoned pets in the world just hearing about one rehoming warms the heart.

Buzz ~ Another tax year out of the way but goodness don't they come round quickly these days! I sometimes wish we did out own in the UK rather than relying on the tax office that can often get things wrong and although quick to demand any underpayment can take up to 7 years to repay monies due!

Sandy ~ As ever you are such a giving person and I hope your family appreciates what a treasure they have in you!

Phoebe ~ Enjoy your time at home even if it means lots of washing, ironing and housework!

Oh dear, nearly lunchtime already and not much achieved so I will now clear the decks in the kitchen and have a clear up before deciding what our miserable weather might allow me to do outside.... probably not a lot!

Hello, my take home groceries also look like LINS photo plus apples and bananas, so with JACKIEs the same thats three of us for a start warming the organic farmers hearts!
Question, I'm finding the iPad increasingly difficult to hold and I'm thinking a laptop in my future. I've got an old Dell computer sitting on my desk and it's still in perfect condition however it's so old I can't use the Internet with it, so I only use it for letters, recipes etc which I can print. Do you girls use laptops and are you happy with them? Can you recommend a good make to buy? Any help or tips much appreciated.
Thanks for the "moving eastwards" white blob tip JACKIE. Does that mean you will get hit! We are supposed to have flurries this afternoon, but Mike just phoned on his way to work and he says it's quite warm out.
Maybe just a storm in a teacup SHIRLEY and you will be safe visiting big boy Isaac after all. Hope so.
So......PHOEBE, MARCELLE, BUZZ, JERI, PATSY, MARIE, LAURA, CHRIS, BARBIE and anyone I've missed, being somewhat fuzzy brained in the morning, have a wonderful Saturday.
    Anne.

Good morning, by the way there are 3 apples in a bag near the back of the photo and I had a few bananas but they didn't fit in the picture!!

I was thinking about your question and I ditched my old iPad quite a while ago and went for that newer lighter sleek iPad Air. The weight is significantly less.

Cold and sunny here today. Snow bits and bobs missed us.

    Stay safe everyone.

Happy Saturday!! :) We had a snow dusting and very windy today. I think I will still take a ride to the casino for a couple of hours so I can be back in time for Mass and dinner, which means I better get moving.

I use my desktop for most things unless Robby is here, then I use my IPad. I prefer my desktop to a laptop but I think it is all a matter of choice. Most people I think might prefer a laptop for exactly what the name implies. I am not a typist so the keyboard on my desktop seems bigger than the laptop and easier for me to use. #just my opinion

Have a wonderful day and I really believe somewhere in the future it will get warm and hot and we will be complaining about the heat. I for one, just can't wait!!!!

    Good morning friends
Lin, your veggies and fruit look just like mine too.
Isn't it great to have such good choices.

Sandy, hope you won some money. We are going to go to Alaska this summer and we are taking our 16 yr old grandson. We will visit my son and his boys, haven't seen them for 10 yrs.so all 4 cousins will have a nice visit.

Buzz, so glad your taxes are done. We did ours early this year ( first time), and I was so glad . Hope you are feeling better.

Marie, yea! Your hip pain gone. Keep up your spirits as I find it helps with pain.

Phoebe, you are amazing still working. Hope all is well with you.

To everyone I forgot, stay healthy .

Things are really starting to look spring-like now. The little camellia bush in front is full of big pink blossoms and the white rhododendron is starting to bloom. That is always the early bloomer! We are getting a full yard of determined dandelions. Such hearty little nuisances.

The farm and ranch co-op store has baby chickens and ducks. It is fun to see and hear them when we go in. I would never be tempted to get any. Our life is already a challenge. But I remember a time in our life when we had our share of farm animals.

We are still "interviewing" doggies to come live with us. This is more complicated than it would seem. Doggies come with their own set of requirements and crazies. It requires the initial phone calls, filling out application forms and visits. Then a short trial home visit, say for a weekend. Adoption and adaptation are the keys here.

Anniversary tomorrow. We are having a nice dinner with cake and champagne delivered to us. Hopefully our son will be able to come. He is in the middle of a huge demanding project. There is no option but to plow relentlessly ahead until completion. We have often reorganized holidays for various unmovable deadlines. As we say...a strong life is a flexible one!
    Calla lilies are blooming also!

Loved SANDY's joke. The kids will recover. Read all the posts but no time now for comments. Glad MARIE's feeling better. Me, too. Was able to stand on my foot today so I'm sure it's arthritis and weather related.
    Back later, I hope,

    NICKNAMES

If Laura, Kate and Sarah go out for lunch, they will call each other Laura, Kate and Sarah. If Mike, Dave and John go out, they will affectionately refer to each other as Fat Boy, Bubba and Wildman.

    EATING OUT

When the bill arrives, Mike, Dave and John will each throw in $20, even though it's only for $32.50. None of them will have anything smaller and none will actually admit they want change back.

When the girls get their bill, out come the pocket calculators...YEP!!!

    MONEY

A man will pay $2 for a $1 item he needs.

A woman will pay $1 for a $2 item that she doesn't need but it's on sale.

    BATHROOMS

A man has six items in his bathroom: toothbrush and toothpaste, shaving cream, razor, a bar of soap, and a towel.

The average number of items in the typical woman's bathroom is 337. A man would not be able to identify more than 20 of these items.

    ARGUMENTS

A woman has the last word in any argument.

Anything a man says after that is the beginning of a new argument.

    FUTURE

A woman worries about the future until she gets a husband.

A man never worries about the future until he gets a wife.

    MARRIAGE

A woman marries a man expecting he will change, but he doesn't.

A man marries a woman expecting that she won't change, but she does.

    DRESSING UP

A woman will dress up to go shopping, water the plants, empty the trash, answer the phone, read a book, and get the mail.

A man will dress up for weddings and funerals.

    NATURAL

Men wake up as good-looking as they went to bed.

Women somehow deteriorate during the night.

    OFFSPRING

Ah, children. A woman knows all about her children. She knows about dentist appointments and romances, best friends, favorite foods, secret fears and hopes and dreams.

A man is vaguely aware of some short people living in the house.

    THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

A married man should forget his mistakes. There's no use in two people remembering the same thing!

SO, send this to the women who have a sense of humor and who can handle it ....

and to the men who will enjoy reading it

Anne, your region may have the only accurate weather forecast on this continent!
We didn't get much rain and hardly any thunderstorms. I check consumer reports first and CNET.com second for techie recommendations. The newest laptops will be extremely thin and flexible. This should bring the prices down on the other heavier types.
Patsy, I love the rhododendron shrub! I've tried several times to grow them but it isn't meant to be. Most of our blooms in springtime are from azaleas, which are rhododendron relatives.
Cookies to bake for Jim. Have a good night.

Thanks for the laptop tips. Son Mark says he'll look into them for me. Prices are a huge range apparently. Mark has 3 laptops, the latest the best. He needs them for his home office so I guess he'll sort me out with something reasonable.

Yes, we got oodles of snow yesterday! Most of it melted today but more promised this afternoon with -8 overnight. I expect it's a last fling! Sure hope so and the local council must believe so because they start their garden waste collection this week.

I made the most of a snowy afternoon by unhooking my laser printer from the old computer, taking it apart because of a jammed start button, dusting out the inside and putting it back together again. Much to my utter amazement it's now working! I had no idea I was actually capable of doing this so I'm feeling like the cat who stole the cream, smug! I hate asking the sons for help, they lead such busy lives!

Anyway I did all that to print a really good 1300 calorie meal plan which gives you the basics to choose from for each meal, and then gives options for accompaniments. 300 cals for each main meal and 150 cals each for 2 snacks and one 100 cals for an evening snack. This really worked for me a couple of years ago so I thought I'd go for it again to lose these last few pounds I put on over the winter.

    Morning,

Last night was a choir performance with young people showing their talents too. Some great talent
out there. I didn't realize how busy our choir director is with workshops, judications, and summer camps but these were her students entertaining us last night. We got up and did 3 songs. It was a nice
evening except when i got out to go home, a snow storm was facing all of us. A scary ride home,
I was following a car on the highway and he slid off the road in front of me. I kept on going but got
off at one of the exits and took the back roads home at least there was more lighting.

Now we are leaving shortly to see Isaac at his first birthday party. One year old today. I will be taking
my camera so I should have a picture to show you.

Happy Sunday! :) Lost at the casino but dinner with Babe was great. Robby coming at 9:30 so they can go look at houses and then going to take care of Daisy this afternoon. Full day and I am already tired. lol It is supposed to be a beautiful day with temps in the high 60's, so hopefully I can take Daisy for a walk. I have eaten so much junk food lately I have gained extra pounds and only proves to me not to buy anything that is not good for me. I have to get in shape for swimsuit season, not that anyone looks at me but I feel better about myself.

Have a great day!! Can't wait to see those pictures of Issac. Hard to believe he is one today!! Give him an extra hug from the sneakers!!

Shirley, I hope you had safe travels today. Happy birthday to sweet Isaac! A whole one year old! So fast.
Sandy, glad you're having good days, good weather, and pretty good luck!
Marie, glad to hear your pain is better. My sister in law told me that pain gets worse then better determined by the barometric pressure. The doctor told her that liquid in the knee builds pressure, thus the pain.

Welcome home Marie. Glad your family had the big Easter egg hunt.

    Shirley, travel safely.

Sandy, I hope you are able to get some rest.

Anne, good strategy to have a printed reminder close at hand.

Marcella, Good to hear from you and it sounds like you'll be making your own rule card!!

Phoebe, I hope you get some more sleep. You always seem to be on the go with so much scheduled when you are home.

Buzz, I hope you are having a bit of a restful weekend.

Just finishing the cooking of my evening meal. Then I will be spending most of my evening watching PBS. Father Brown, Call the Midwife, and Grantchester. Yippee!!!!! Looking forward to it.

    Hugs to my friends.
