Happy Wednesday! The suns is shining but there is a chance of showers today. I have dinner plans with my lady friends from bingo tonight so I hope no storms. I did go to the pool yesterday to de-stress, some days are just worse than others. Between the family situation, Babe and Bryanna, I have to remember to let it go and take care of myself. I have no control and can't fix everything and have to remember to use my program for which I am grateful.
Buzz, although hard to give up Mike's glove, think of how happy some little boy is going to be playing ball with his great granddad. I am a little to OCD to have stuff in my car, everything has to be in it's place. My cleaning girl just told me how easy my house is to clean since I don't have any clutter.
Phoebe, are you implying we are old? LOL Just kidding, it was good advice. I saw that same video with the kittens and pool table, it was adorable.
Lin, what a beautiful coloring, I think you should be framing them and selling them, they are perfect. It seems like a lot of work leasing out the farm, but you are doing a great job.
Barbie, glad to hear Jake is doing well and I hope he gets clearance to drive. I also just wear comfortable clothes around the house, mostly lightweight capri's and a t shirt.
Anne, what's the point of dressing up to walk Jilly, being comfortable is much better. I do clean up when I have places to go which seems to be often lately. I will be stuck in the house when old man winter comes so best to get out when I can.
Shirley, I hope it is not a long sail home with no pump. Is there an alternative if necessary?
Jackie, I couldn't handle all that rain. You are such a good neighbor to take care of their hens and cat. Little Kitten is starting to feel at home and being welcomed by the others is wonderful. I do hope she wasn't left in a car that would be awful. I am glad she found you, she picked the right person to adopt.
Marie, hope you are a little stronger today and can drop in and say hello.
Patsy and Marcella, hope you are doing well.
Have a great day!
Sandy

Oh SANDY and BARBIE, your capris and tops seem pretty glamorous to what I wander around in! However today I made an effort because I went to register at a new doctors office just on the cross street. I wore normal light coloured pants and a pretty brown flowered top, neither very special but such a change from my raggedy old blue gardening jeans and Tee. I'm still wearing them. Now, I just have to get a haircut and I won't look like somebody stepping out of a time machine from the Stone Age. The Bean is such a good girl today. I took a chance and left her with the full run of the house and she didn't do anything naughty. My little Jill is growing up.
By the way: Thoroughly agree about getting out and about before old man winter shows up! All those lovely long gossips with other dog owners will be a memory when the north wind blows around ones tuque! It will be "get on with it and let's gallop home"

Lin your coloring book coloring is just Lovely. If I am gaoing to be house bound much longer I may need to take up coloring book2

Hi Marie, good to hear a bit from you.
Lin0 -
Anne, I have to laugh when you say Jilly is growing up. I remember my little tiny terrier, at least two years old, literally tearing the blinds apart, and a few other things while he was at it. All because he was home and his people went out without him. At least, I think that's why he did it.
Sandy, here it is, barely August, and it feels like summer is ending. Not that it's cooler. I think it's the lack of kids around every corner, all back to school here. Hope the prayers are helping. Did Laurie manage the plane ride pain free?
Lin, you've put up with intermittent internet far too long. At least it gives you more time on your colorings.
Sorry, can't stay longer, I keep falling asleep!0 -
PHOEBE! Say it's not so, tore the blinds apart at 2 years old! Jill made a new friend today, Trouble. The sweetest little thing. I guess Trouble acquired her name when a pup! Jill WAS a good girl until we watered the parched earth this evening and the water puddled into mud under the apple tree. Jilly sat in it. She now has that distinctive doggie pong. We met Amy's mum too on walkies. Amy's mom was a bit bristly because she got talking to an elderly chap at her apartment block. The elderly chap told her he wasn't looking for a second wife! She informed him she wasn't looking for a second husband either! Honestly, why do these bow legged old chaps think they are the answer to a maidens prayer!
I shall miss all these interesting folks, kids and their dogs when winter arrives and rather than avoiding the prospect of a second wife etc, we'll be avoiding frost bite.
Nighty night all, Anne and the pongy one.1 -

Pretty day today! I feel like I wasted it however. I didn't seem to get much of anything really done. A couple of phone calls to a gallery in Lake Oswego, OR. Not sure about the collaborative show they want to do. Sounds like it might be interesting. Now the fun part...meet the gallery director and we size each other up and I show a couple of recent pieces in person...so to speak. There was a time when artists had to provide galleries with slides of their work. No more. Good Digital PDFs and a viewing of the originals. Aaaaargh!
Had a sort of catch in my throat when Anne described her friends encounter with the elderly chap. My mom was quite lovely even well into her eighties. A friend of my late father's pursued her and they began a relationship. He was a low-class jerk, if you ask me. Being the kind person that he is, John always said the companionship was probably good for both of them. I suspect the guy was after money or assets of some sort. It really doesn't matter, but I was constantly worried about her. My brothers and I guarded her like a hawk. Yet we wanted her to have fun and a social life. Mom passed away well before her boyfriend and we paid for his funeral and expenses because mom had cared for him. Soap opera of my family. If I wrote a book, who would believe this family?

I'd take the fudge drive through any day over the car wash! Though we finally got the Camry shiny clean red again and the inside practically perfect. Only problem is I gave the fellow the valet key to drive it to our car wash, and I distinctly recall that he was unable to open the trunk with it, so clicked my key and the trunk opened. From that point on, I draw a blank and I cannot find that valet key anywhere! I've hunted high and low, back out to the car, even looking under the hood, body, everywhere; inside and out...NO KEY! I called the fellow who cleaned it and he said he makes it a practise to alway return other things, and must nave returned the key, but I think we wriggled to other things and both forgot that darn key! Perhaps it's under the car and we'll see it as it gets hauled off to its new home! Like PHOEBE, I cannot keep my eyes open.

Hi - Tai Chi today with stops at the library and the convenience store on the way home. Got my fresh vegetables today and prepared some of them. Also made a small pot of soup. Made some phone calls and got caught up in starting a jigsaw puzzle. I know, a winter activity but it looked like so much fun I decided to work on it. Also starting to read "Live and Let Growl" by Laurien Berenson. Texted with friends and have been fighting email problems again. I only receive messages every few hours and then am unable to open them to read the contents. Very frustrating.
I think it is getting late and I need some zzzzzzzzz's.
Hugs.

Hi Marie - I like to see Sargent Preston of the Yukon with that beautiful dog Yukon King.
On you Husky...

Happy Thursday!! It is my meeting day so will keep it short and try to get back later.
Phoebe Laurie made it home with no problems, she is still thinking about the long plane ride to Africa. I will let you know. Keep praying, it could be a while before we know where God's Will is taking us. I should be able to let you know what we are praying for in the next few weeks. Marie Good to hear from you and Lassie used to be one of my favorites.
That's all for now.

Swimming first thing now the school galas are finished but with the holidays started the pool was soon full of screaming kids, obviously having a good time which is great BUT...... I've since been doing some weeding around the back of the cottage as well as a bit of gossiping with my neighbours' builder who's in the process of dismantling their chimney before rebuilding. A beautiful evening on the way so it's now up to the moors for a stroll with George because this morning's walk was short.
Anne and Patsy ~ The friend I walk with and I have chatted sometimes about meeting someone in our lives at our age (mid 60's) and both come to the conclusion there's going to be too much baggage on both sides and do we really want to be looking after someone when we both lead such independent lives. Selfishness comes with any struggle living on my own and I'm not afraid to admit it but love to hear of couples such as you and John and the other sneakers lucky to have enjoyed many years with a partner. Last weekend I had a brief encounter with a very friendly and amusing man in the fruit isle of Aldi who was no more than 40'ish but as he walked away with his bag of peaches that had started the conversation and me thinking hmm, he's rather nice I realised he was probably thinking I reminded him of his mother!!!
Marie ~ Lovely to see you posting. Lassie always made me cry but that was probably the movie.
Lin ~ Your stained glass colouring picture is incredible and I'm trying to work out how you would create that see-through effect? (Just had to edit initial typing error of wee-through!!) I say again, if only I had the time!
Little cat (Brady) has come within an inch of being sent on to a shelter because of his naughtiness and my rising blood pressure but when I woke this morning to find him curled up on my pillow purring in my ear I realised he's here to stay because no one has claimed him so I doubt they will now. Early next week I'll check him in at the vet's to make sure he's healthy then he's officially mine!
Buzz ~ I'm sure a new valet key can be cut by the car's new owner so don't lose sleep over it. You've already worked so hard to clean it out and hand it on in spotless condition. I'd buy a car off you any time!!
Time to walk George so I wish you all a safe and happy Thursday.

Marie - Happy you are home!
Barbie - Yeah! Jake is driving again.
Buzz- I didn't know you thinking of giving up driving. I have been trying to keep up
but it has been hard since away so much.
Sandy - No other means to pump out a toilet on a boat if the unit is broken.
One couple we know are filled to the top and can't use the boat until its pumped.
I know TMI.
We got home yesterday from boating and it took us 5 hours to get home and we are really tired today and slept in this morning. We were so tired after docking I forgot some of the food that had to be taken home. Dave has left to do some grocery shopping and throw out the leftover food on the boat. I am doing laundry and catching up. I will be watering my neighbor's flowers and garden this week while they are away.
We will be home for 3 weeks this time before taking my MIL up to the cottage for one last time. We have one more sailing cruise on Labor Day and then I am home for the long distance. That is okay by me. I like to travel but not this much, I also like being around my house. Also keeping up with watering has been a challenge since we
are in a drought zone lately.
My daughter and Isaac are coming tomorrow to go to Safari Niagara (zoo) and then back to the house. Fraser my SIL will be joing us later. I am getting my digital camara ready for pictures.
I think I will go to a retorative yoga class tonight, it will feel good to back at it. Next week nothing but appts. mostly doctor check ups.

I wrote a long post but sort of lost it. Maybe just as well!
Anne0 -

Had a great day. My youngest daughther came by and fix my supper
Barbie glad to hear Jake is getting back to normal.
Slowier we are too. Real slow

Oh fudge, lost a long post and cannot retype the whole thing! Computer is acting up, or is it MFP? Poor Mike feels his independence is being robbed because I just found out he never was given permission to leave his nursing center on the motor chair, and he cannot accept that. I could cry when I see his anguish at being "treated like a 5 year old"! I would love to have all the conditions straightened out ASAP concerning medication supplier and various charges I don't understand prior to signing any agreements. My poor head is befuddled, but my DD and DGD are arriving tomorrow and that will brighten our few days!
Just saw LIN's window; WOW! Just gorgeous!
I desperately need sleep so I must log off, but not before wishing you all my hugs and love...

Good morning - up early as my stomach seems to be doing flip flops. Hope to get a nap soon.
I am watching "Sargent Preston of the Yukon" again this morning. It is on TV here just before Lassie. Anybody watch this show? I always loved the show with stories of the Gold rush, dog sled teams, Canadian Mounties and of course that beautiful dog Yukon King.

Good morning LIN. We are sat on the sofa chewing our bone, well she is, and having a cup of tea, well I am. Very hot today with rain and thunder this afternoon hopefully blowing the humid stuff away.
Anne.1 -
Started the day with a wonderful walk taking a different route on the moors. The dogs ran and ran chasing crows which had us laughing. I've been in to a neighbour who is home after 6 months transferring from one hospital after another and back again with care homes in between after a fall and broken leg. She was so happy to see George and I've promised I'll pop in each morning after our walks to make sure she doesn't need anything although she has carers in 4 times a day. Now I'm off to the town I had my eye test last Friday to collect my new glasses which will mean a battle with holiday traffic pouring into Cornwall. I'll probably come home a different route via some back roads. Having come up with the name Brady for the kitten I'm now thinking Chase will be more appropriate for obvious reasons so will test it over the weekend!
Anne ~ Enjoy your bone!!
Happy Friday.
Jackie2 -
Brady/Chase will always be Moses to me because you found him in the rushes JACKIE. Lol. Just joking, Chase is a nice name and different. However I know where you are coming from when it comes to names that suit. Jilly started off as Chloe, became Gilly, became Jilly, became Jilly Bean or The Bean, will always be Jilly Bean with the family but I've started calling her MISS Jilly in the unrealistic hope that she eventually becomes more ladylike!
The bone is one of those that's supposed to whiten and clean teeth. Mmm. Maybe I SHOULD have a nibble. How come all this good stuff is made for dogs whilst we get boring old toothbrushes and floss.
Mikes taking me grocery and pet needs shopping soon for which I thank him profoundly in this horrible heat and humidity. I hope the storm doesn't bypass us this afternoon but gives the grass, the birds (who LOVE my bird bath) and the wild life some welcome relief. It was a real chore this morning going for walkies. The heat was like pushing through a blanket. For once I think Miss Jilly was glad to be picked up and carried the last few yards! Definitely "Hanging tongue and panting" weather. Her, I hasten to add. Not quite there yet with the tongue lolling!
Anne.1 -
Sigh, Jackie mentions Cornwall with dread of the traffic, and the name makes me swoon with wishing I was there.
Love your posts, Jackie! Moors and walks and laughter and neighbors and tea and tips and furniture and cats and, well, You!
Actually, I love all of your posts, I gobble them up!
We had to scoot with this trip to California. I didn't have time for reading anything except road signs. Now I'm caught up!
Yes, Lin, please comment on the mysterious stained glass effect. I love it!
Sandy, prayers are freely given, you needn't discuss the details.
I dreamed of my aunt last night, I'd better call her soon. It was a lunch out and shopping - her daughter, niece(she has several), and me. So, I hope it means she is happy.
Buzz, seems it would be better for everyone if they would be more accommodating of Mike's wishes. Give him a tricycle if that's what he wants! He deserves to be happy. A few bumps will likely be overlooked, and practice makes perfect! Sorry, I just hate to see it upsetting the two of you.
Anne, I hope that's what happens after the storms. I drove thru lots of them overnight and even had those LOUD warnings on my phone about severe weather, flash flooding. I saw one place where the water was just ready to spill across the freeway.
Did seem to cool things a bit.
Must sleep

Hello, nice Qigong and Tai Chi class. DVDs returned to the library. A stop at the police station to write in the memorial book for an officer who died in a car/motorcycle accident as he was returning from testifying in a court case in another county. They set up a police car by the station entrance and it is totally covered in flowers.
Anyway, okay, there are really no secrets to that coloring. The original is a gray scale. Then I just used the side of the pencil and kept rotating it. Light touch, NO pencil tip or hard pressure. So in essence all the shading is already done for you. Just add the colors you want.
The free booklet was available through Dover publications and promotes many of their coloring books (each page was a sample from a different book).
Easy!!

Thanks Lin, I Never would've figured it!0

Hi. All, don,t know where the day went but it is about gone. Busy day with the visiting nurse. Just wanted to drop in to say hello1
-
Said bye-bye to my dear red Camry as its new owner beamed in pleasure with her new / old car! Oh my, what pleasure to see my DD and her DD arrive before the car was rolled onto the carrier. I would not have recognized my DGD and she has grown into a lovely young woman as loving as can be. We had a fabulous dinner in our "fancier" dining room, and everything was exactly as I hoped. They are so concerned over Mike's condition and how chilly he is, despite warm clothing. I say little, as I really don't want to upset them any further, but he has been quite cold for some time. Nothing to do about it but pile on more fleece and drink hot drinks. Anyway, their presence is a welcome diversion! Must get some rest and get up early as our bistro closes at 9 AM!!!
Buzz0 -
Happy Friday! Busy day but wanted to say hi! Will check in tomorrow!

Me too, busy day. Enjoy it everybody,

This morning I was up and out before 8 in order to get to the Aldi store before the rush..... too late, the travelling tourists had been in yesterday evening and cleared the shelves and with so few staff on nothing was being done to restock so I returned home with only enough to get me through until Tuesday. It was quite foggy when I left home but when I drove George on to the moors for a 9.30 stroll the sun was coming out so we had a warm walk with lots of new views as we headed in yet another direction in an effort to avoid sheep because Scruff will chase. She did see a couple before my friend had a chance to pop her lead on and off she went charging into the bracken but luckily some sharp whistles and calls brought her back. Of course George tried his best to follow on, bouncing across the green but he's really not a hunter, more a bouncy toy! A group was setting up a wedding facility in the middle of the Hurlers stones with rose arch, marquee and lots of chairs set out for guests and we commented to the groom who was organising that he couldn't have picked a more beautiful setting.
The kitten is still with me and I'm having to accept no one is going to claim him so one more week of litter tray with a trail of bits through the cottage. He.s very much the baby..... eat, sleep and poo!!! The doors will be open next Saturday morning and he'll be given freedom to check the garden but hopefully no further.
Phoebe ~ My life seems terribly mundane and humdrum to me whereas reading about you and Jim travelling across the States is fascinating to me. I do thank my lucky stars for my glorious surroundings when they're not covered in nose to tail traffic and of course when that problem ceases in mid September the residents of Cornwall heave a sigh of relief but without tourists there wouldn't be much money coming into the area so it's a necessary evil.
Lin ~ You might say those pictures you colour are easy but there's an awful lot to it even with shaded areas. Has your flip-flopping tummy settled? Hopefully so!
Buzz ~ It's no surprise to the rest of us that any descendants of yours would be caring and generally gorgeous! Can they help you work your way through the paperwork regarding Mike's medication and new agreement? You probably don't tell us a half of what an affect Mike's decline in health has had on you so I'm so pleased when you mention family visits, even short ones, that might relieve the pressure just a bit. I'm glad too you had company to divert your attention as your car was taken away as well as enjoying dining in the "posh" restaurant. Little pleasures like that can make all the difference!
Anne ~ You're right of course, a name will come to me that will feel right one day soon. I've moved on to Kit Kat at the moment, Kit when he's good and Kat when naughty!!
Marie ~ Good morning sweetheart.
Must get on, goodness almost lunchtime!
