Hi, y'all, read all your posts standing up as the restless legs are really bad tonight; can't sit, perhaps because I sat through a French(I think) movie this afternoon, mesmerized. The name was Frantz and I didn't nod off even once! My legs are letting me know I cannot sit so long. Have a lovely weekend.

Hi, Sneakers! Sorry I have been off line awhile. :( Having computer issues and have not figured out how to get into sneakers area on my phone or tablet (Kindle). Also trying to figure how to dictate to my 'Open Office Writer' because typing is a pain for me. :/

Well I have had a few Dr. appts. with a few more coming up, 1) Surgeon for Hiatal Hernia due to damage done to vocal cords, glottis and supraglottis (all found by the Anesthesiologist when had breast surgery), 2) Dermatologist to biopsy a couple suspicious spots my primary Dr. found, 3) Hematologist to follow up on “wonky” blood work.
    4) Opthalmologist to scrape off the concretions that have regrown on the inside of my eyelids (I originally scratched my eye from them).
Had the stent removed from my ureter after passed more stones and recheck scan showed no more currently...YEAH! I do P.T. 3X/week for strength and stamina ( a hoop I have to go through per Insurance). They still document low AP (pulse down to 30's - 40's) and B/P fluctuations with minimal to moderate arm / leg use. Believe me, I am well aware of these when they happen, so I stop and sit/lie down to recoupe, I do not need a therapist nor a pulse ox machine to tell me!!!! My thought is do what I can while I can or til I feel ''the drop” and take breaks as need. Just have to pace myself and take 3 – 4x longer (or more :) ) to get things done, otherwise I would not get anything done.
Got the gardens in late and still working on all of them. I have a few more veggies to go in (peppers, parsley celery, sage, more basil, etc,) and some new seed to plant (succession planting ...a couple types lettuces, spinach, baby carrots, broccoli). The yellow straight neck are prolific this year, coming fast and furious. I have had just 3 small to moderate pickings of peas and 1 small of wax and green beans so far. Shelled and snapped what I picked earlier today and cooked with a little lime basil ….Ohhh sooooo good! The lettuce was also abundant and some of it bolted, but am replanting more. I got the dinosaur kale, thinking I had the tender curly kale, and am not a fan! Pulled that because no one wanted any....even the pantry said no one took it! Have to be more careful next spring as I also got broccoli rabe vs good 'Waltham' head broccoli....oh well! I was tired and it was late when I got my seedlings and finally got them in.
Anne – sounds like you are getting results from your garden boxes. Glad your son and family are back and enjoyed their trip.
Lin - I have been away and did not catch what you did...you bought a farm?
    Sandy – nice family pic.
Patsy- I too love"oldies" as I putter doing chores in house.
Buzz - Hope this finds you well.

Oh! My son called and invited me over for 'game night' IF I would bring supper! His significant other was out of town and my grandson had asked for me; he "did extra chores and was on my best behavior so daddy would let you come!" I had a lg. cauliflower to cut up and roast, a ground meat and veggie saute all cooked, and took some brown rice. I had some fresh fruit popsicles I had made as well ... we had a good night!

Will try to do better keeping up here (sheepish grin)
Hope all is well with everyone.
    Stay Healthy and Happy!

    Mae :(

Happy Sunday! Funday! :) I did get to the pool yesterday before going to mass and then to visit Babe and Daisy. Babe has some drama going on with his son again so he is depressed.
How his children thought they could make him happy if I left just isn't working!! I really feel bad for Babe but there is nothing I can do so I have to let it go!!
I am par-boiling some baby back ribs to cook on the grill later and soon will be heading to the pool. Right after I catch up with my games. lol

Mae, so good to hear from you but my goodness you sure have been through a lot. You have a wonderful attitude and enjoy life to the best of your ability. You are a definite role model.

Buzz, sorry about your legs and hope you find some relief. Are you still eating in your own apartment?

Lin, some people try to make jokes that aren't funny but I don't think he meant it to offend you. And believe me I know the feeling when the water is not powerful enough to get shampoo out of your hair. I hope you can let this go, you are too kind to be hurt.

Anne, I got confused, did your son find the problem with the water or did you have a plumber come and check it? I don't care what wasps do, I hate them and they scare me. lol Mosquitoes are food for bats, although what good are bats? The circle of life is so confusing at times.

Patsy, 50 and 60's music is my era! Good music!! I hung around in a place like they did on Happy Days with the jukebox on the tables. Fun Times!1

Jackie must be busy, at least I hope she is and not blown away some place.

    Have a good day.

SANDY, Sandy, Sandy, there is absolutely nothing wrong with bats! It's funny you should mention them though because Trouble the dogs dad caught one n his house the other day, and its little face resembled a squirrels. He let it go of course to eat more Mosquitos! When the animals view Oriental kids firing off missiles they must wonder what good are humans. I'll take a bat any day!

Mark, who can do just about anything in the repair field when he's not working as an accountant decided my tap needs a plumber and probably new pipes. I guess he will call "Joe" on Monday.

Yes LIN, Sandy is right, poor joke, but your handyman was joking.

And I must away to phone my old friend Flo. Flo is a great chatterer on the phone, after one hour at least my ear goes numb, but this is a good time to call her before my lot show up.
    Anne.

Oh RATS! I have an eye infection and I look pretty bad! I am having a difficult time seeing as well. I look like some one poked me in the eye. It is very red and swollen. I will need to get into the DR. Tomorrow. This has been developing for a while. I can bump up the size of the writing on the iPad. That helps for a while.

Anyway...dear sneakers...don't get an eye infection! They are a bummer. We are going to be roasting here in Oregon for a week or more. Really roasting! It will be dangerously hot. All construction will stop and the fishing will stop. Special cooling stations are being set up for the homeless with clean cool water available as well as orange juice etc. and there are folks who still say global warming is a hoax!

Stay cool and positive, I will try to do the same,
    Patsy

    Hello friends.

Good to see you again Mae. You get a lot done my friend even with all the doctor visits and health problems that you have. I hope all the fall vegetable crops turn out well. It was kind of you to agree to take supper to your family so you could enjoy a game night with your grandson! And I did not purchase a farm, I just go to the seminars once a year in preparation for signing a new lease. It is best to be prepared rather than just waiting to see what the tenant has to say. They have gone out of their way to give in on several points in the lease that meant a lot to me so I hope to continue with the same operator.

Sandy, you have a very good attitude regarding the problems with Babe and his children. There is nothing that you can do to make things better. I am glad that you take care of yourself and that you are enjoying your life. I really do not understand people sometimes, well maybe more often than that.

I have a friend who is married and they wanted to re-write their wills. The attorney is just adding a codicil to the current wills but honestly I do not understand it. The will will require that if the surviving spouse wishes to re-marry at any point that a pre-nup is required. The assets also go into trust and neither can disinherit the children and grandchildren. It all sounds crazy to me. It seems like trying to control each other from beyond the grave. People have very unique notions.

Anne, okay, fine, bats are useful but not in my house. Rodents, bugs, stinging insects and other pests may also stay outdoors. Haaaaaa. But I agree, people may be the biggest menace.

Pasty, sorry about your eye. How miserable. I would be glad to take your advice and avoid any and all eye problems if I can.

Well, tomorrow is the last seminar. This one is out of town so I will need to leave earlier. It should be a nice trip.

Today after church I attended the birthday party. When I got home my garage door opener broke so I called the handyman. He came over again and put the bolt that had shot out of it back in the proper place. Good grief. If it isn't one thing it is another.

Soon, the final episode of Grantchester but I see Endeavor is coming back again. Yippee!!

    Hugs.

    Lin

Now, why did my post simply disappear as I was typing? Hope I recall what I was saying! Another weekend come and gone! They do that so much more quickly than I ever recall! I mentioned seeing a beautiful French film yesterday in our auditorium, "Frantz", and I never nodded off, not even once! There were unexpected twists and turns and an ending that was unexpected for me....My attention appears to be switching from legs to hands! My hands recently developed a condition that developed from pins and needles and "falling asleep to a terrible burning sensation, and my BioFreeze cannot ease it. The Doctor says it's neuropathy, and after tests, I do not have diabetes; so he can't figure out the cause. His best suggestion is hold an ice pack! Yes, sure, all day and night? I've discovered many people have this, and so far no one has found a way to deal with it! I spent all afternoon Googling neuropathy burning, topical pain help, and other things and the only thing I learned is buying BioFreeze retail rather than at a health or massage facility is no longer the same product! It is a weaker gel so the therapists should not lose sales! If you buy any, make certain it says "Professional" on the bottle or tube or whatever!
MAE, I cannot tell you how I admire you for staunchly enduring your medical problems! I'm happy you have your gardening to brighen your life!
SANDY, poor BABE! But he has only himself to blame! I hope he understands that not only his, but your life is totally different than planned! The way you have dealt with it is amazing! Answering your question, there are evenings I actually am relieved to bring my dinner up to my apartment and eat in my own kitchen. Mostly I eat in the Ding Rooms and once in awhile eat on the patio of our nursing floor with friends who are staying there. Reminds me of those months I ate up there with Mike (RIP)!
LIN, love, I suspect SANDY and ANNE are correct in assessing the poor social skills of that plumber! I don't believe he was so much a misogynist as a lousy joke teller! Your friends with the will "from beyond the grave" actually were given excellent advice! The prenup takes care of the survivor for life, but protects the children from losing the natural parents inheritance to a strangers progeny! Picture this: had your Dad remarried, upon his death, your inheritance might have gone to the new wife's children instead of you! Of course, then THEY would have the plumbing problems :s !
PATSY, oh no! How unfair! Hope your eyes heal very quickly! I agree totally about global warming! Florida is loaded with deniers, as is the Environmental office in D.C. these days! I don't think they doubt the warming. I believe what they are saying is mankind had nothing to do with it so don't bother trying to control it. Just keep cutting forests, burning fossil fuels and ignore anything that might cause us the slightest discomfort.
Hey, Facebook Friends, somehow I ran across some of your messages yesterday (could probably never find them again!) and I think I left remarks to you! Honestly, I'm a dinosaur on that website!!! If it weren't for Messenger video calls, I would not have rejoined, because I cannot figure anything out! I agree it was nice seeing Gayla there, and I suspect BARBIE, too. I know SANDY, LIN, and some others, but some I couldn't recognize names! Oh well!
Gotta get some sleep so I can get up early and try to make the shopping bus! Manana, dears!

Happy Monday Sneakers! A showery start for me and of course I've a washing machine full of items ready to hang out so must wait to see if the clouds lift. I won't bore everyone with one of my lectures on Mother Nature's decisions on what should exist except to say there is a thought that the natural state is preferred and best left undisturbed whatever we humans think of a buzzy wasp or incredibly unique bat.... they all have their place! ;);) For all that I've always considered slugs and snails to be a mistake especially when I discovered they've eaten half my cultivated leeks in their little pots in my greenhouse ready to be planted at the allotment but then found under a bag of hen house bedding a delightful brown toad that is probably working very hard to eat the greedy things so again, well done Mother Nature. Who eats the toad? I'm not sure!!

Mae ~ Great to see your grandson insisted on seeing you so obviously a spirited boy who won't be denied! Hopefully the door is now wide open so you can see each other whenever you both choose. You are a heroine to us all dealing with so many health issues with amazing aplomb.

Sandy ~ Poor Babe but then we all have to live with the choices we make and he made an appalling one letting you go! Your strength has seen you through to what seems a contented life with your family so you're right, let it go!

Anne ~ We should put your friend Flo on a line with my friend Geraldine who rings me every Sunday morning at 1130 and talks for an hour while I listen. Yesterday it was more like 2 hours and my head was spinning by the time I hung up!

Buzz ~ I do understand the strange pairing of McCain and Palin would have put a lot off!

Lin ~ These days I take most things people say with a pinch of salt so am rarely offended. It was a strange term your handyman used, in fact I had to read it twice to get what he thought he meant but certainly don't think he was having a dig at you. After my father was completely cut out from any inheritance of his father's estate when his stepmother left everything to her daughter he then had a will written up that left his property to my siblings and me once our stepmother dies because he feared the same could happen to us. It's often a distasteful matter to have to deal with but I suppose we all would like to think people will be fair when we depart but life isn't always like that!

Yesterday afternoon I spent time contacting an animal shelter to check if they can take in the feral cat that keeps attacking my and my neighbours' moggies if we can catch it and they've agreed to reserve a space for a couple of days. Trouble is, having placed a cage trap outside yesterday containing a bowl of food and shutting our cats in my neighbour sent a text before 7 this morning saying they had let their cats out because they were complaining! We are either going to trap this boy so he can be neutered and a home found or continue with the vets bills when ours are beaten up so I wasn't too pleased and have said just that (in a nice way!) so hopefully tonight they will cope with their cross cats!

The rain has just been hammering down so my washing will have to be hung on an airer in the conservatory rather than the washing rotary line.

    Time to be constructive!!

    Jackie

LIN, BUZZ is so right regarding the will. For example if my ex dies before his second wife, all his assets will go to the second wife and then onto her children and grandchildren from her first marriage. He's provided everything in their marriage because the second wife never worked. However, and more unlikely because of the age gap, should the second wife die first there is a chance all four offspring might get to share. His and my two sons and our two joint grandchildren have never expected to inherit anything so they won't be disappointed!
MAE, you are indeed amazing and stoic when it comes to health problems! I knew you would see your grandson soon. He's not going to let go of his grandma!
PATSY your eye sounds terribly painful. Please get well soon.
And as for SANDY you do indeed seem to have found yourself the perfect life!
One thing JACKIE and I share apart from country of birth and Canadian experience seems to be a love of all creatures great and small. Oh, and friends that talk too much on the phone! I try to do little things during our hour long conversations, put the dried dinner dishes away, or put on a load of laundry, throw Jilly's ball etc. Anything one can do with one hand. Bonus, I don't have to say too much, just the odd "oh really!" or "you don't say", because my own life is pretty unexciting to anyone but me!
    Hi JERI how's the tooth.
Anne about to wash her hair in the trickle from the hot water tap.

Happy Monday! :) Laundry day and my cleaning girl is coming. Waiting to hear if there is a volleyball game tonight for sitting with the boys. Otherwise just a Sandy Day!!

Anne, I am happy with my life especially since I have no control. There are some days when I get lonely but at least I keep myself busy so I don't get depressed. I keep my mind busy on the computer and I meet with friends at the pool or other places. I did picture my life different but didn't we all?

Jackie, eww, I agree with slugs, they are disgusting creatures. I do hope your neighbors co-operate and you can catch that cat. It would be a better life for him as well as yours.

Buzz, terrible that they can't figure out what is wrong with your hands. I agree walking around with an ice pack doesn't seem realistic. Do you think you need some kind of specialist for hands?

Lin, the world is a different place today, with so many divorces and second marriages. My advice would be to never marry a second time if there are children involved especially if there is also money to be inherited. I don't think some children care about their parents happiness only their own. (sorry do I sound bitter?)

Patsy, so sorry about your eye infection, I do hope it is better today. My son also said there is a heat wave in Portland and he and his wife hate hot weather.

I better get in the shower before my cleaning girl gets here.

    Have a great day!

Good morning sneakers! Here is one for the BOOKS! I woke up with a very swollen and red eye. I could hardly even open it. John jumped on the internet and after some hasty research, we washed my eye with a very mild soap, applied a cool wet compress while a black tea bag soaked in cold water. Then I held the tea bag on my eye for a 1/2 hour. Wow! Red is almost gone and swelling is reduced dramatically. Old home remedies are still very useful.

Buzz: have your doctors ever suggested gabapintin? Sorry about the spelling. Can't come up with the correct spelling. It is an off -use of a prescription normally used as a anti-seizure drug. It is often prescribed for stinging feet and hands for diabetics. I use it. It makes life so much better. The big side effect is feeling sleepy after you take it. It is used often when nerves are damaged. Back pain for example. Just a thought, I am no expert but I use the internet a lot. Might be worth asking your doctor about.

Take care everyone. This talk of wills has me thinking. My dad always said to be as generous as you possibly can. Don't be a burden. Plan your life as if you can only depend on yourself. Because, under most circumstances, that's the case. If our savings out last us, the kids will share what's left but they must deal with all of our junk. Sorry kids! I'll try to ditch some of it now. Our sweet Katie is in our will. There is a small account to be used for her care. Weird, I know to put the dog in our will. I just want to make sure she will live out her life with all her needs being met. I need to think of more uplifting topics. Like freezing some apple juice into popsicles for the hot days ahead. Watermelon balls and cantaloupe balls for lunches. I will freeze some strawberry yoghurt for a sort of ice cream.
Still need to have the DR. Check my eye condition.
    Patsy

When we were young and had red eyes etc our Mums used to soak a cotton wool ball in milk and gently stroke across the lids. Did it for my kids too and it always worked.
Very hot here, 30 degrees. We've just come in from sitting under the apple tree. Too hot for walkies. The window air conditioner feels soooooo
    good!

    Good evening

The meeting today was very good and the drive out and back was very interesting as well. In the last year all the towns along that stretch of highway have continued to grow into each other. It was a notable difference from last year. The place the meeting is held is outside of town on a gravel road. The surroundings are very nice and the room is not overly cold and the parking is ample. Surprisingly development has hit out there and earth movers and other heavy equipment were working today. I hate to see the havoc of ripping the earth and killing all the trees and vegetation as they work to make roads etc.

The crops in place looked excellent, the information was very good today and I was able to have a short conversation with the specialist from the university regarding cover crops. So a very good end to my season of attending meetings.

I had a number of errands and phone calls and spreadsheets to work on this afternoon. I have made a bit of progress but have lots left to do. A friend started sending me texts and had a number of items she wanted me to order from Amazon for her kids as she does not have a Prime membership. Glad to do it but I did get side-tracked. Easy for me to get de-railed! Haaaa.

Well, I will get back to it one of these days. Meanwhile, Mah Jongg tomorrow and Senior discount day at Walgreens, need to find some type of treat to take to book club tomorrow evening.

Patsy, glad your eye is better. So happy John found a remedy!!

Sandy, yes!! A Sandy day. Love it. That sounds so pleasant. Well, I don't have to worry about all of these complications of complex families. I am well and truly content with the status quo.

Jackie, I hope the feral cat is captured. It would be the best for everyone wouldn't it. And I hope your laundry dried out.

    Wishing everyone well.

    Hugs.

THANK YOU JACKIE!! I bet no body else knew that, and I bet it's cooler in Yorkshire than here! Have you a white rose in your garden to put in a bud vase for me! Remember, "she wears no fancy clothes" yep that's me and no Yorkshire rose these days - IF I ever was one of course! I'll practice a few sayings on yappity Jill!
"Tha's got a trap like dock gates" sort of thing, lol.

Aloe LIN! Interesting!!!! It's normal! LIN. No wonder I have trouble over here re. speech!

I'm cooking early because it's ruddy hot over here! I'm cooking my very own beetroot as well as Jilly's dinners. I've actually put on a pair of cotton shorts which means it really IS ruddy hot over here. Wouldn't dare wear them amongst folk my age in Yorkshire. Not in the rural parts anyway! I'm just surprised I can still wriggle into them because they are the same as me, ancient.

Thinking of the wolds and the moors and the icy North Sea.

Hi Anne, honestly, the only reason I knew about Yorkshire day was because I watched a fascinating BBC news item this morning about the Halifax Piece Halls that I didn't know existed and in fact they wouldn't have if it wasn't for one woman that I assume was a councillor voting against them being demolished for a car park..... sacrilege!! Hopefully you can read this....

Happy Tuesday! Happy Yorkshire Day! :) Well the parents won their first playoff volleyball game so they play again tomorrow. I may never get back to bingo at this rate. I am happy for them and they love it so much!! I could not fall asleep again last night and ended up taking an Unisom pill around 2AM and slept until 9:30 when Babe woke me. I haven't anything pressing today other than paying some bills but at least I got some sleep.

Anne, I can actually hear your accent reading your post. Is Yorkshire more like a Cockney accent? Do you and Jackie have different accents? Of course I know you will say that you don't have the accent and I do, but humor me. lol

Lin, thanks for sharing that link, it was an interesting read.

Jackie, thanks for sharing your link as well, the things I learn from you sneakers!!

It is already lunchtime and I still haven't showered so I better step away from my computer.

Thanks for both links JACKIE. Wonderful news about the Halifax halls, I'm so glad England is back to restoring. I watched a programme about The Flying Scotsman last night. Boy what I'd give to ride on that wonderful steam train, dine on it, and fly from Scotland down to London.

Sorry SANDY the Yorkshire accent is nowhere like the cockney accent. There are actually 40 odd different dialects in various parts of Yorkshire. It is rather guttural and came down the ages from the Vikings. Many place names in Yorkshire are Viking in origin. I don't know if you have seen the TV series "Last of the summer wine" about a bunch of OAPs living in a village? Very funny and that would give you an inkling of how I sound. We all have accents love and as soon as we open our mouths one can tell where someone originated. Jackie's voice on her tapes is posher than mine.

Well the heat here turned into one hell of a thunderstorm. I was weeding but the Bean and I scarpered in as soon as the lightning started flashing around the old apple tree. It's still rumbling away!
    Anne
